Abstract

This study examines the application of journalism-based learning media in social studies education to enhance the communication skills of eighth-grade students (class VIII-D) at MTsN 1 Medan. It focuses on developing students’ abilities to convey messages effectively through oral and written forms, as well as managing news content. A qualitative research design with a descriptive analytical approach was employed. The study involved direct engagement between researchers and participants (students and teachers) to collect in-depth data on the implementation and outcomes of journalism-based learning activities. The findings demonstrate that journalism-based learning media, such as school wall magazines and digital magazines, significantly improved students’ communication skills. Participants showed enhanced ability to articulate messages, write news, and manage media content, fostering a more interactive and engaging learning process. This study introduces an innovative approach to social studies education by integrating journalism techniques into classroom learning, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical communication skills. The results suggest that incorporating journalism-based media in curricula can revitalize traditional teaching methods. Educators are encouraged to adopt such creative tools to promote active learning and student participation. The research contributes to pedagogical strategies by highlighting the effectiveness of journalism-based media in nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and communication competencies among students, offering a replicable model for similar educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Social Studies teachers in building student character through the Problem-Based E-Learning (PBeL) approach in Grade IX at Budisatrya Junior High School, Medan. PBeL was selected as an innovative learning strategy that integrates contextual problem-solving with the use of digital technology in character education. This research employed a qualitative case study method, with data collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that Social Studies teachers serve as facilitators, motivators, and moral guides throughout the online learning process. Through the implementation of PBeL, students are encouraged to analyze real-life social problems and present solutions collaboratively. Character values such as responsibility, tolerance, empathy, cooperation, and digital discipline developed significantly during the learning activities. Despite challenges such as limited digital literacy and technological infrastructure, teachers were able to adapt instructional strategies to remain effective in fostering character values. These findings highlight the potential of PBeL to integrate character education into digital learning while contributing to the development of a 21st-century learning model that is both humanistic and contextual. The study recommends teacher training and the strengthening of digital infrastructure to support the sustainable implementation of PBeL in secondary school character education.

Abstract

This study investigates the values of local wisdom embodied in the Marpangir tradition practiced by the community of Kota Natal as they prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, with a particular focus on its potential integration into Social Studies learning. Rooted in cultural and religious practices, Marpangir serves not only as a ritual of physical and spiritual purification but also as a medium for transmitting values such as cleanliness, piety, solidarity, and communal cooperation. These values are essential in shaping students' character and fostering cultural awareness through contextual learning. Employing a qualitative research approach with ethnographic methods, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the Marpangir tradition represents a rich educational resource that can be meaningfully incorporated into Social Studies curricula to enhance students' understanding of local culture and strengthen their social and moral values. This study concludes that integrating local cultural traditions into educational content not only preserves heritage but also enriches pedagogical practices in multicultural contexts.

Abstract

Assemblr Studio is a learning media application that is currently being developed for educational purposes in creating or designing 3D animations that are fun and interactive. With the help of this 3D technology, it can encourage students to learn and understand learning. Learning outcomes are an important point that should not be missed in the learning and teaching process because it is the most visible indicator of learning achievement. This study uses a quantitative research approach method with the type of True Experimental Design research (experimental design) and the form of Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research, namely experiments carried out in two groups with a quantitative approach. The purpose of this study is to find out how the learning outcomes of students taught using Assemblr Studio Learning Media affect student learning outcomes in the Social Studies subject of class VIII SMP Sinar Husni and whether there is an influence of Assemblr Studio learning media on student learning outcomes in the Social Studies subject of class VIII SMP Sinar Husni. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26. The results of the analysis concluded that there is a significant influence of Assemblr Studio learning media on learning outcomes in the Social Studies subject of class VIII SMP Sinar Husni.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the philosophy contained in the Patuaekkon tradition, which is one of the important stages in the Mandailing wedding procession, while also reflecting the values of local wisdom that can be integrated as a contextual learning resource in Social Studies (IPS) subjects. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation techniques, involving traditional leaders, the bride and groom's families, and cultural actors directly involved in the Patuaekkon procession in the Mandailing region. The results of the study indicate that the philosophy in Patuaekkon not only functions in the socio-cultural order, but also holds strong educational potential. This tradition teaches the importance of social harmony, collective responsibility, and respect for local values and norms as a foundation in community life. The integration of these values in IPS learning not only enriches the teaching material but also fosters students' awareness of cultural identity and strengthens local cultural resilience amidst the flow of globalization that tends to homogenize. Thus, Patuaekkon can be used as an alternative learning resource that is contextual, applicable, and relevant to shape a young generation with character, culture, and a strong understanding of history and society. This research recommends the need for synergy between educators, traditional leaders, and educational institutions to revive local heritage as part of a culture-based learning transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of the Bahal Portibi Temple as a source of Social Science (IPS) learning at SMP Negeri 1 Halongonan, North Padang Lawas Regency. The Bahal Temple is a historical heritage site with high educational value and great potential for integration into the contextual learning process. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include observation, interviews, and documentation. The study's results demonstrate that the Bahal Temple possesses historical, cultural, and architectural values that are highly relevant to support social studies learning, particularly in aspects of local history and culture. However, its use is still limited due to limited infrastructure, low teacher awareness, and a lack of support from educational institutions. Therefore, an integrative and collaborative strategy is needed between schools, the community, and the government to optimize the use of local historical sites as an effective and meaningful learning medium.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter menjadi dimensi krusial dalam sistem pendidikan modern, terutama dalam membentuk nilai-nilai dasar seperti kejujuran dan tanggung jawab. Salah satu wahana potensial yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam penanaman nilai tersebut adalah koperasi siswa, yang memberi ruang praktik nyata bagi siswa dalam mengelola tanggung jawab dan membangun integritas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran koperasi siswa dalam membentuk karakter jujur dan tanggung jawab peserta didik di SMP Negeri 4 Sei Rampah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi, dengan subjek penelitian terdiri atas kepala sekolah, satu guru pembina koperasi, dan enam siswa aktif yang bertugas sebagai pengelola koperasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa koperasi siswa berkontribusi dalam membentuk karakter jujur melalui praktik transaksi yang transparan, pelaporan keuangan harian, serta pengembalian uang dan barang sesuai ketentuan. Nilai tanggung jawab terbentuk melalui pelaksanaan tugas yang konsisten, inisiatif siswa dalam bekerja tanpa diperintah, serta pembagian kerja yang mendorong kedisiplinan. Namun, penelitian juga menemukan kendala berupa terbatasnya pengawasan dari guru karena keterbatasan waktu dan sistem monitoring yang belum optimal. Simpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa koperasi siswa tidak hanya berperan sebagai wadah kewirausahaan, tetapi juga sebagai instrumen pendidikan karakter yang efektif jika didukung sistem pembinaan dan pengawasan yang terstruktur. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi pengembangan program koperasi siswa yang terintegrasi dengan pendidikan karakter, serta kontribusi teoretis dalam mendukung pendekatan experiential learning sebagai strategi pendidikan moral berbasis aktivitas nyata di sekolah menengah pertama.

Abstract

Abstrak Usaha kecil dan UMKM penghasil kerupuk pasir diwilayah Dsn.Sumbergayu, Ds.Klurahan, kec.Ngronggot kab.Nganjuk saat ini masih banyak menggunakan metode penggorengan manual dengan menggunakan tenaga manusia sebagai andalan utama. Sistem penggorengan manual yang menggunakan tenaga manusia masih menggunakan bahan bakar kayu yang dimasukkan ke dalam tungku dan membuat temperature di ruang penggorengan menjadi sangat panas sehingga membuat pekerja menjadi cepat lelah dengan keadaan tersebut dan dianggap kurang efisien. Salah satu solusi untuk menambah efisiensi dan produktifitas yaitu dengan melakukan modifikasi mesin penggoreng kerupuk menjadi semi-otomatis dengan bahan bakar gas elpiji yang dilengkapi pengatur suhu. Modifikasi mesin penggoreng kerupuk  pasir semi otomatis ini bertujuan agar proses produktivitas pada penggorengan kerupuk pasir lebih optimal sehingga tidak dibutuhkan tenaga kerja tambahan dan temperatur di sekitar penggorengan lebih stabil. Modifikasi mesin penggoreng ini dimulai dari melakukan survei lapangan sehingga diperoleh gambaran mesin penggorengan yang ada sekarang, pengerjaan dibagi menjadi dua komponen utama sehingga dalam proses manufaktur lebih mudah pengerjaannya. Komponen pertama adalah sistem mekanis dan yang kedua sistem elektrik, sistem mekanis terdiri dari chasis, drum penggorengan, gear box, pully dan motor listrik sedangkan sistem  elektrik terdiri dari panel dan elektrik mikrokontroller ATMEGA. Pada dasarnya mesin ini nantinya bisa digerakkan dengan menggunakan semi-otomatis dan juga bisa dengan penggerak manual. Kata Kunci: Krupuk Pasir, Penggorengan, Produktivitas

Abstract

Kerupuk pasir merupakan hasil produksi UMKM daerah Nganjuk yang telah lama dikenal masayarakat. Peningkatan efisiensi dalam produksi telah menjadi keharusan bagi pelaku bisnis untuk tetap mampu mempertahankan daya saingnya, tidak terkecuali UMKM. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dilapangan pada studi sebelumnya, teridentifikasi beberapa permasalahan terkait peningkatan produktifitas proses produksi. Modifikasi mesin penggorengan merupakan Langkah solusi yang diusulkan. Penelitian ini membahas modifikasi mesin penggorengan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas kerupuk pasir. Ujicoba dilakukan dengan tiga kondisi yang berbeda. Hasil peneltian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan 60%  hingga 75% efektifitasi mesin yang telah dimodifikasi. Spesifikasi alat untuk modifikasi mesin penggorengan disajikan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi berharga bagi peningkatan produktifitas UMKM krupuk pasir secara umum.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai kebersihan lingkungan agar tercipta lingkungan yang bersih, indah, dan nyaman bebas dari penumpukan sampah. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dalam bentuk sosialisasi yang difokuskan kepada masyarakat yang ada di Desa Naman. Hasi dari Pengabdian Masyarakat ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan masyarakat tentang kebersihan lingkungan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari gotong royong atau kerja bakti yang dilaksanakan oleh aparat desa bersama warga untuk membersihkan lingkungan yang terlihat kotor di Desa Naman.
