Abstract

The research was carried out in January 2024 at the coastal waters of Padang City, West Sumatera Province. This research aims to determine the structure of the macrozoobenthos community as a bioindicator of water quality on the beaches of Padang City. Purposive sampling was used to get the sample, and then data was analyzed using FBI methods. (Family Biotic Index). The research results using FBI calculations show that Station 1 is in a good category with a score of 4.73, Station 2 is in the good category with a score of 4.71, and Station 3 is in the relatively poor category with a score of 6. Thus, the water quality based on macrozoobenthos as bioindicators of the coastal waters of Padang City, with an FBI value, was found to have an average of 5.14, which falls into the moderate category.

The survey method was used in this study. The data collected consists of primary data and secondary data; the management strategy of the Indragiri Hilir Regional Conservation Area is carried out using SWOT Analysis and AHP analysis. The study results show that the potential of the Indragiri Hilir KKD area consists of human capital, natural resources capital, artificial capital, and social and economic potential. Internal factors in the management of regional conservation areas consist of community openness in improving an area, the commitment of the Central Government, the commitment of the Riau Provincial Government, the commitment of the Regency Government, local wisdom, the availability of potential natural resources, the number of population human resources, the quality of community human resources, coordination and communication, regional development directions and policies, legal instruments, and law enforcement. External factors consist of SDGs, government programs based on natural resource conservation, corporate involvement in environmental planning, participation of community empowerment companies, research and community-based community service, sectoral ego and spatial ego attitudes, land degradation and ecosystem damage, economic liberalization and political interests, moral hazard actions of stakeholders.

Abstract

This research was conducted from February to June 2023. A sampling of Avicennia marina and Sonneratia alba mangroves was conducted in the mangrove ecosystems of Mengkapan Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency. This research aims to identify the species and test the antimicrobial activity of endophytic fungi found in the leaves and stems of A. marina and S. alba mangroves in the mangrove ecosystem of Mengkapan Village using survey and experimental methods. This research began by determining the sampling location and measuring the physical and chemical parameters of the mangrove environment. Then, sampling and preparation of A. marina and S. alba mangrove samples were carried out to isolate the endophytic fungi. After isolation, macroscopic and microscopic characterization was done to identify endophytic fungi. The diameter increase of the endophytic fungi was measured and calculated, and the antagonism activity test of the endophytic fungi was carried out. The antimicrobial index of endophytic fungi was measured against the pathogenic bacteria Vibrio sp and E. coli. This research obtained that 12 endophytic fungi were isolated from the mangroves A. marina and S. alba: two genera Rosellinia, two genera Pythium, four genera Hansfordia, and four genera Aspergillus. Based on the test results, all genera found in this research inhibited the growth of E. coli with inhibitions of 75.99% (Rosellinia sp), 87.70% (Pythium sp), 73.42% (Hansfordia sp) and 86.88% (Aspergillus sp). However, only three genera inhibited the growth of Vibrio sp by more than 50%, with inhibitions of 85.23% (Rosellinia sp), 87.87% (Hansfordia sp), and 86.07% (Aspergillus sp).

Abstract

Growth, mortality, exploitation rate, and recruitment of Anadara granosa cockle in Rangsang Barat coastal waters were studied from July to October 2019. The objective of this research was to study the growth, mortality, exploitation rate, and recruitment of A.granosa cockle. Sampling was done monthly at three main stations. The cockle collected from plot 1 x 1 m2 on quadrat transect. The result showed that the asymptotic length (L∞) of A.granosa was 30.45 mm, the annual growth coefficient (K) was 0.83 per year, the total mortality (Z) was 4.46 per year, natural mortalities (M) were 1.60 per year, and fishing mortalities (F) was 2.86 per year. The rate of exploitation (E = 0.64) of blood clams in Rangsang Barat waters has begun to threaten sustainability. The recruitment occurred every month, the peaks occurred in July (13.83 %), and August (13.08 %).

Abstract

Morphometrics is a field that deals with variations and changes in the form (size and shape) of an organism or object. Anthropogenic is a human activity not only limited to the use or utilization of coastal resources, but also can be restorative and protective, thus causing complex disruption. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphometric differences of the flowers and fruits of R.apiculata mangroves in two regions with different anthropogenic activities in the mangrove ecosystem of Dumai City. This research was carried out in September 2019. From the results of the study it was found that in areas polluted by anthropogenic activity the average morphometrics of fruit (length and width) and leaves (length, width and length of the stems) Rhizophora apiculata were lower than those in the area not polluted by anthropogenic activity. At station I the oil content ranged from 0,0975 to 0,1251 ppm classified as polluted and at station II ranged from 0,072 to 0,111 ppm classified as not polluted.

Abstract

Mangrove forest vegetation is spread across several islands in Indonesia, including Rupat Island. Rupat Island is the outermost island in Riau Province, close to Malaysia, and directly faces international waters, namely the Malacca Strait. Rupat Island has two sub-districts, namely Rupat District and North Rupat District. Rupat Island has a very extensive mangrove forest and has a significant contribution. Monitoring changes in mangrove forests is one way of controlling the mangrove forest ecosystem. This research aims to analyze changes in mangrove vegetation area and mangrove density using the MVI algorithm in 2013 and 2023 on Rupat Island, Bengkalis Regency. This research was conducted in the mangrove forest ecosystem on Rupat Island, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The method used in this research is a survey method with observation and field data collection (ground check). Based on image processing results, the area of mangrove vegetation was 13903.03 ha (2013) to 11748.66 ha (2023) and experienced a reduction of 2154.37 ha. Classification based on MVI in sparse density has an area of 5872.46 ha (2013), decreasing to 3422.05 ha (2023); medium density has an area of 2188.84 ha (2013), increasing to 3334.64 ha (2023), and dense density has an area of 5841.73 ha (2013) reduced to 4991.97 ha. Over 10 years, the density of mangrove vegetation has increased in the medium class and tends to decrease in the sparse and dense classes. Based on calculations, the density of mangroves on Rupat Island falls into the tree category, ranging from 1150.00 ind/ha to 1450.00 ind/ha, which is considered good, and the sapling category ranges from 366.67 ind/ha to 1050.00 ind/ha, which is classified as good.
