Abstract

A study on the accumulation of heavy metal by mangrove in Batam coastal waters was conducted in February 2014 by analyzing the concentration of heavy metals of Pb, Cu, and Zn in the roots, trunk, leaves and fruit of A. marina growing in the industrial and non- industrial areas. Survey method was applied at 4 stations with 3 replications each. The results showed that the highest concentration of Pb in A. marina was found in the fruit (4.47 μg/g) and the lowest was in the trunk (3.96 μg/g). The highest concentration of Cu in the roots of A. marina was 8.47 μg/g and lowest was in the leaves 7.88 μg/g. While the highest Zn concentrations in A. marina was identified in the trunk (36.69 μg/g) and the lowest was in the roots (34.99 μg/g). The concentrations of Pb, Cu and Zn in non-industrial region ware higher than that in the industrial area, but statistically they were not significantly different (p > 0.05) for Pb and Cu, it was significantly different (p < 0.05) for Zn.Keywords : Avicennia marina, heavy metals, shipbuilding industry, Batam Island

Abstract

Abstract The class of gastropods is the largest class in Phylum Molluska. One of the habitat that is inhabited by gastropod is mangrove forest. The structure of the gastropod community of phylum molluska is influenced by changes in environmental factors. This research was conducted in Sungai Rawa Village Subdistrict Siak Regency, in October 2018. The purpose of this research is to know the structure of gastropod community which includes: type, density, diversity, uniformity, dominance, distribution pattern. The characteristics of environmental as sediment type and water quality is considered important for support the research data. The research method used is the survey method where sampling using line transect method was done on 3 stations. 15 gastropods species found in mangrove areas with the value of gastropod density obtained at each research station ranged from6.333-10.667 ind/ha. The value of its diversity index ranges from 2,44-3,07. while the value of uniformity obtained is 0,81-0,86 and the dominance value ranged from 1,29 to 1,95. Characteristics of mangrove area in Sungai Rawa village is good.Kata Kunci:Gastropoda, Community structure, Characteristics

Abstract

The research on structure community of mangrove in East Moro Village District of Karimun in Riau Islands has been done in June 2014. The purpose of study was to determine the species composition and dominant species in the mangrove ecosystem of East Moro Village. The method used in the research was survey method. The stations were determined by purposive sampling in three stations. The transects were set along the 50 meters from the sea to land perpendicular coastline. The number of plots was 27 for each plot with the size of 10 x 10 m2 for tree criteria, sub-plots of 5 x 5 m2 for sapling criteria, and 2 x 2 m2 for seedlings criteria. The results of this study founded 12 species of mangrove in East Moro Village District of Karimun Riau Islands. The vegetation was dominated by species of R.apiculata with critical values ranged 125.46 to 72.29 % . The conditions of mangrove vegetation in East Moro Village was still at good condition, with the average density ranged from 3066.67 to 2922.22 Ind /ha.Keywords: East Moro village, Structure Community, Mangrove

Abstract

Abtrac Mangroves are one of the important ecosystems in coastal areas that grow in places that are still affected by tides. This research was conducted in April 2018 in Bunsur Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency. The purpose of this study is to determine the condition of the mangrove ecosystem in Bunsur Village which is seen from the density of mangroves, environmental quality indicators and the ecological index of the mangrove community. The method used in this research is survey method and the research used 3 stations. Environmental physics parameters were measured in situ, the results obtained in the research location were temperature 30-32 ° C, salinity 8-29 ‰, and pH 5-6. Data analysis was described in the form of tables and graphs of the environment including Avicennia alba, Bruguiera sp., Lumnitzera racemosa, Nypa fruticans, Rhizophora apiculata, Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum, and the density of mangrove farm 1 was 52566.67trees / hectare, station 2 was 55655.56 trees / hectare, station 3 was 22244.44 trees / hectare from the results of these densities on all mangrove stations classified as good (very dense) criteria. Indicator value of mangrove environmental quality at stations 1.2, and 3 ranged from 62.81 to 80.31% classified as high environmental quality. The value of the community ecological index sought includes diversity in which the results obtained in the three stations are 1.14-1.42 classified as low species. Uniformity index values ranged from 0.49 to 0.78, where at stations 1 and 3 are classified as balanced individual distributions and station 2 is classified as unbalanced individual distribution. Dominance index values ranged from 0.45 to 0.89, where station 1 was classified as low species dominance, station 2 was classified as medium species dominance, station 3 was classified as high species dominance. Keyword: Mangrove Vegetation Conditions, Sungai Apit

Abstract

This research aimed to find relationship between numbers of Vibrio sp in sediment and in blood cockle. This research was conducted from March until May 2017. Survey method was used in this research. The data was analyzed descriptively and statistically using simple linear regression. The highest average log number of Vibrio sp in sediment was find at sampling point 2 (7.9033 CFU/g) and the lowest was at sampling point 4 (7.3187 CFU/g). Meanwhile in blood cockle the highest Vibrio number was at sampling point 3 (7.6889 CFU/g) and the lowest was at sampling point 1 (6.3411 CFU/g). Simple linear regression indicated the r value (correlation coefficient) was 0.31, showed was low which meant that the relationship between number of Vibrio sp in sediment and in blood cockle.Key words: Relationship, Vibrio sp, Sediment, Blood Cockle, Coastal waters

Abstract

This study was conducted in March 2016 in the waters of Kuala Tanjung,BatubaraDistrict, North Sumatra Province. General objective of this study wastodetermine the general condition of the aquatic environment Kuala Tanjung, andin particular is to know the type and abundance of macrozoobenthos, then therelationship of sedimentary organic matter content with abundance ofmacrozoobenthos. The method used in this research is survey method. Analysisresult done moderate polluted water conditions through the value through thevalue of diversity index (H ') ranged from 1.67 to 2.58. Dominance index value(C) ranges from 0.19 to 0.37. Value uniformity (e) ranges from 0.39 to 0.57.Macrozoobenthos were found as many as 9 species of gastropod class, and 3species of bivalves class. Abundance obtained ranged 32- 112 ind / m². Therelationship between the sedimentary organic matter content with abundance ofmacrozoobenthos obtained regression equation y = 46.18 + 1.576x with acoefficient of determination (R2) of 0.407 and a correlation coefficient (r) of0.638. This means that the relationship between the organic matter content ofsediment with an abundance of macrozoobenthos was moderately. Keywords: OrganicMaterials, macrozoobenthos, sediments and Kuala Tanjung

Abstract

AbstractNerita lineata is one type of mollusc from the family Neritidae which has economic value. This research was conducted in Maret 2018 located at the mangrove forest of Sungai Cingam Village, Rupat Sub District, Bengkalis Regency. This research was aimed to determine the population structure N. lineata which cover density, distribution patterns and size distribution. This research used survey method and sampling location determined by purposive sampling. Measurement of water quality was done by in situ and ex situ which consist of physics and chemical parameters. Condition of N. lineata habitat was muddy sand, sandy mud and sandy. Sediment organic matter was medium and very high 2.97-30.58 %. The water quality parameters are still support for the life of the gastropods. The average density was 3.45 ind/m2. The highest density was in station II and the lowest in station I. The distribution pattern was grouping. The size of the gastropods found has a length 10-26 mm.Keyword: Population Structure, Density, Distribution Patterns, Nerita lineata.
