Abstract

The aimed of this study was to determine the effectivity of pineapple essence (Ananas Comosus) as a natural reservative in chicken meat with parameters of total colony of bacteria and pH. The experimental design used completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments applied were P0 as a control, P1 (25% pineapple essence), P2 (50% pineapple essence), and P3 (100% pineapple essence). The parameters of this study were the total colony of bacteria (TPC) and pH. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the total colony of bacteria in meat were P0 = 4,2 x104, P1 = 2,0 x 104, P2 = 1,9 x 104, dan P3 = 1,2 x 104. pH in chicken meat P0 = 5,0 ± 0,17a, P1 = 4,2 ± 0,05b, P2 = 4,0 ± 0,08c, dan P3 = 3,9 ± 0,10d.. The results of this study showed significant difference in chicken meat containing pineapple essence on total colony of bacteria and pH. The most effective result was chicken meat with 100% pineapple essence.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a mixture of Moringa leaf extracts (Moringa oleifera) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus L)on the mortality of mosquito larvae Aedes aegypti. Experimental animals used in this study mosquito larvae Aedes aegypti were 625. The design used was a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The five treatments were the treatment group consisting of concentrations of 2%, 4% and 6% and the control group consisting of positive control, namely abate and negative control, namely aquades. Mosquito larvae mortality was observed every 2 hours for 12 hours. The data obtained were analyzed using one way ANOVA test and continued with Duncan's test. The results obtained in the mixed treatment of Moringa leaf extract and lemongrass 4% and 6% had high larvicidal ability and were the same as positive control themepos (abate). Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that a mixture of Moringa leaf extracts (Moringa oleifera) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus L)had larvicidal ability against mosquito larvae Aedes aegypti.

Abstract

The purpose of this research aimed to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of the methanolic extract of dragon scales leaves (Drymoglossum piloselloides) against MRSA (Methicilin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and Eschericia coli bacteria in vitro using the diffusion method. This research used a population of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli bacteria. The sample to be used is dragon scale leaf methanol extract. The method in this research used experimental with 6 treatments, namely dragon scale leaf methanol extract with concentrations of 45%, 55%, 65%, 75%, negative control (methanol) and positive control (chloramphenicol antibiotics). Data collection in this study was carried out by recording the diameter of the inhibition zone using a caliper (mm). The data obtained from the diameter of the inhibition zone of 75% extract variation resulted in an inhibition zone of 17.02 mm (in MRSA) and 8.47 mm (in E.coli). Chloramphenicol was found to be resistant to MRSA, but sensitive to E.coli. Data analysis used ANOVA test which statistically showed that there was a significant difference (P<0.05) in the diameter of the inhibition zone of the dragon scale leaf methanol extract against MRSA bacteria and there was a very significant difference (P<0.01) in the diameter Inhibition zone of dragon scale leaf methanol extract against Eschericia coli bacteria.

Abstract

A domestic cat with short hair, approximately three months old, was brought to the Tabby Pet Care clinic with complaints that the cat's owner had vomiting and diarrhea. The results of clinical examination showed a state of dehydration and swollen popliteal. Supportive examinations include hematological examinations and rapid test kits. Hematological examination results showed anemia and leukocytosis. The results of the rapid test kit examination showed a positive FPV result. Based on clinical symptoms and the results of investigations, the patient was diagnosed as positive for Feline Panleukopenia Virus. Treatment of FPV is carried out with supportive therapy. Therapy was carried out for 7 days. On the seventh day, based on the results of the hematological examination and the patient's body condition, his condition progressed and he was allowed to continue outpatient therapy.

Abstract

Indigestion is a syndrome of indigestion originating from the rumen or reticulum, characterized by decreased or lost movement of the rumen, weak tone of the two stomachs, indesgeta buried in it and accompanied by constipation. An indigestive case in a limousine cow named Beno, male, 12 months old, 400 kg body weight, brown hair color, was physically examined by inspection and palpation. The results of the physical examination by inspection were weakness and lethargy, hypersalivation, hyperlacrimation, slightly reddish conjunctiva of the eyes, slightly pale mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and ears and the earlobes felt cold, no lesions on the skin and hair, no lice, slightly dull hair. The results of palpation of the lymph nodes did not experience swelling. Palpation of the left abdomen was distended (the ventral part of the rumen/left paralumbar fossa felt tense, rumen movement was slow), a small amount of feces was found and the consistency was slightly runny, the frequency of urine was small. Normal body temperature is 41.1oC, abnormal respiratory rate is 49/minute. Treatment is in the form of drug therapy including injection of analgesics and antipyretics, anti-inflammatories, antihistamines, antibiotics, and multivitamins. Keywords: Simple indigestion, cow, inspection, palpation.
