Abstract

Diarrhea is one of the most common diseases affecting children throughout the world. Diarrheal disease is still a public health problem in developing countries like Indonesia, because of its high morbidity and mortality. To find out the Relationship between Mother's Knowledge and Personal Hygiene with the Incidence of Diarrhea in Toddlers in Pudun Julu Village, Padangsidimpuan Batunadua District in 2018. The type of research used in this research is descriptive analytic using cross sectional design. Population and Samples of all mothers who have toddlers are 48 mothers, with a total sampling. Bivariate analysis is carried out to find out between the independent variable and the dependent variable. To find out that the test carried out is the square test (chi-square) and the calculation of odd ratio (OR) so that it can be known there is no statistically significant relationship with a significance level of 0.005 or a = 5%. Statistical test results obtained p value (0.019) <α (0.05) so that Ha is accepted. This means it can be seen that there is a relationship between respondent's personal hygiene with the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers in Pudun Julu Village in 2019. It is expected that mothers of toddlers to further improve and maintain personal hygiene, around the house and the environment because of environmental hygiene, one of which is to prevent infectious diseases, especially diarrhea.

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a disorder in the blood vessels that causes the supply of oxygen and nutrients carried by the blood to be blocked to the body's tissues that need it. The prevalence of hypertension in the world according to WHO in 2017, 1 billion people in the world suffer from hyperlension, two-thirds of whom are in developing countries with low to moderate incomes. This research is an analytic study with a descriptive approach. This type of research design is cross-sectional. The population in this study is all the elderly in the Simataniari Health Center with a total sample of 76 elderly. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-square test α = 95%. The results showed the majority of the elderly have hypertension, the majority there is a genetic history, the majority of women and the majority with more nutritional status, and there is a relationship between genetic history and nutritional status with hypertension in the elderly, while there is no gender relationship with hypertension in the elderly. It is expected that the elderly carry out routine blood pressure checks at least 2 times a week and pay attention to genetic and maintain nutritional status.

Abstract

Plants that contain secondary metabolite compounds are Muntingia calabura L. or so-called cherry plants. Cherry plants are neotropic plants. This plant originated from the Philippines and was reported to enter Indonesia at the end of the 19th century. According to Arum et al. (2012), cherry leaves contain a group of compounds including flavonoids, triterpenoids, and saponins. Khrisnaveni (2014) reported the content of cherry leaves consisting of alkaloids, flavonoids, and anthraquinone. The content of compounds owned by cherry leaves is thought to have anticancer bioactive compounds, so it needs preliminary tests through cytotoxic tests. Cytotoxic test is one of the development methods to predict the presence of toxic compounds in cells (Kurnijasanti et al., 2008). One method to determine the toxic nature of natural ingredients is the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. BSLT method is one of the toxicity test methods used in tracing toxic bioactive compounds from natural materials. This method was chosen because it is cheap, fast, and easy to do. BSLT is used as a preliminary test in the search for anticancer compounds, which if positive results can be continued testing on human cancer cells.

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a chronic condition characterized by increased pressure on the walls of arteries. The results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) 2018 showed that the prevalence of hypertension increased compared to Riskesdas 2013, which rose from 25.8% to 34.1%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education by using leaflet media to increase the knowledge of hypertension patients in outpatients at South Tapanuli District Hospital. The research method used was Quasy Experiment with One group pre-post test design in one group design. The sample in this study amounted to 31 people. The data obtained were processed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results showed that there was an influence of health education on increasing knowledge of patients with hypertension in outpatients in South Tapanuli District Hospital, where before being given health education, respondents had 7 knowledge worth 9 people(29,0%), and after being given health education respondents had 10 knowledge totaling 10 people (32,3%). Based on the Wilcoxon statistical test results obtained p-value = 0,000 <0.005. Suggestions of this research can be used as a new source in increasing the knowledge of hypertension sufferers, and further researchers can use the slide show method or lecture method.
