Abstract

Plantation commodities have an important role in the country's foreign exchange earnings due to the high performance of its leading commodity exports. This study aims to analyze the trend in the volume and value of plantation commodity exports (palm oil, rubber, cocoa) in Indonesia during the period 2019-2023. The coverage area in this study is Indonesian data. The type of data used is secondary data of annual time series in the period 2019 to 2023. The main data sources were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Ministry of Agriculture. The data analysis used linear trend analysis with the ordinary least square method. The results of this study indicate that the trend in the volume of palm oil commodity exports in Indonesia during the period 2019-2023 has a downward trend of 562.17 million tons per year, while in the same period the trend in the value of palm oil exports has an increasing value of up to 2,586.2 million US$ per year. The trend of rubber commodity export volume in Indonesia during that period has a tendency to decrease by 223.18 million tons per year, while the trend of rubber export value has a tendency to decrease to reach 224.49 million US$ per year. The trend of cocoa commodity export volume in Indonesia during the last five years has a tendency to decrease by 19.17 million tons per year, while the trend of cocoa export value has a tendency to decrease to reach 8.12 million US$ per year.

Abstract

This study compares the economic welfare of farmers in the capture and aquaculture fisheries sectors in South Sulawesi Province through an analysis of Fisherman’s Exchange Rate (NTP) as an indicator of purchasing power and economic stability. Secondary data from the South Sulawesi Central Statistics Agency (BPS) were used to examine the development of farmers' exchange rates in both sectors between 2018 and 2022. Statistical analysis shows that the NTP in the capture fisheries sector is higher than in aquaculture, indicating relatively better welfare in the capture sector. Results from a paired sample t-test reveal a significant difference between the two sectors (p < 0.001), with a more stable average NTP in the capture sector. This study recommends technological and infrastructure support for the aquaculture sector to improve economic stability. The study has implications for more adaptive and sustainable fishery management policies to enhance the welfare of fishery farmers in South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Corn is an agricultural commodity that has an important role as food and feed. The demand for corn which continues to increase in line with the continued development of the food and feed industry indicates the large role of corn in the growth of the food crops subsector. This study aims to determine the structure, conduct, and performance of the corn commodity market in Madapangga District, Bima Regency. The technique of determining the sample using snowball sampling. The number of respondents included 5 corn farmers, 7 collectors, and 4 wholesalers. Data analysis techniques used quantitative descriptive analysis namely CR 4 (Concentration Ratio for The Bighest Four) analysis, Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI), marketing margins, farmer's share, Minimum Efficiency Scale (MES), and profit and cost ratios. The results showed that the corn commodity market structure at the farm level was perfect competition (CR4=16.77%, HHI=0.005), the collector trader level was oligopoly (CR4=62.99%, HHI=0.14), and the trader level was large is an oligopoly (CR4=65.67%, HHI=0.27). The corn commodity market has entry and exit barriers, with an MES value of 15 percent. Farmers' conduct in developing the market value of corn commodities focuses on increasing the productivity and quality of corn. Collector trader conduct concentrates on direct purchases by visiting farmers, while wholesalers prioritize the quality of corn commodities. The performance of the corn commodity market is determined by a marketing margin of IDR 250.00 per kilogram, farmer's share of farmers and traders respectively reaching 97.8 percent and 96.8 percent, while the value of the profit and cost ratio is 0.93.

Abstract

Horticultural commodities are commodities that have the potential to have increasing economic value and have the potential to continue to be developed. In developing farming with high-value horticultural commodities, one of them is to increase farmer production, namely by developing shallot farming. This study aims to (1) determine private and social benefits and transfer effects using PAM Analysis on shallot farming patterns in Bima Regency; (2) to determine the competitiveness of shallot farming patterns in Bima Regency. The data analysis method used is the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) model. The PAM matrix is a policy analysis matrix that functions to measure the efficiency of input use, comparative and competitive advantages and the level of government intervention or interference in an economic activity. The results of this study indicate that shallots in the rainy season have a level of private profit, social profit and transfer effect has a positive value level. This shows that shallots in the rainy season have good efficiency at the price level, so they are worthy of being developed. Meanwhile, shallot farming in the dry season has a positive private profit level, positive social profit and negative transfer effect. This shows that there is no additional producer surplus caused by government policies applied to input and output. Bima Regency in the rainy season and dry season both have comparative advantage and competitive advantage. This shows that shallots in Bima Regency are good to be developed to become superior commodities.
