This study aims to determine the relationship of energy intake, macro and micro nutrients to physical fitness of athletes of Dyva Taekwondo Centre Cibinong. This study used cross sectional design research. The number of respondents was 30 athletes determined by total sampling. The consumption energy and macronutrients were measured by 3x24 hour recall method, whereas intake of micronutrients data was obtained using semy FFQ. Variable relationships were tasted using Pearson Correlation. The result showed that the average age of respondents was 14±1 years, energy intake 2259±571 kkal, protein 73±15 g, fat 51,7±8,9 g, carbohydrate 259±57 g, vitamin B1 1,15±0,4 mg, vitamin C 230±81,7 mg, fe 21±4,5 mg and fitness level 35,69±7,2 kg/ml/minute. There was relationship of energy intake (p= 0,0001), carbohydrate (p=0,0001), vitamin C (p=0,0001), fe (p=0,007 and fitness level. There was no correlation between fat intake, protein, vitamin B1 and fitness level (p=0,081, p=0,497, p=0,383). Intake of energy, carbohydrate, vitamin C, and fe does relate to physical fitness of athletes of Dyva Taekwondo Centre Cibinong. Abstract

Abstract

Commercial Protein Supplements that are circulating freely nowadays are consumed not only by athletes but the wider community, especially sports activists who rely upon it to improve performance or merely for aesthetic interests. This study aims to analyze the nutritional content of the five supplements circulating freely in Indonesia to then compare it with the claims on the packaging label. We analyzed five samples of popular supplements in Indonesia obtained online and then tested in three copies for each sample. The actual total protein in the supplement sample is measured using the Kjeldahl method where the appropriate nitrogen material is converted to percentage of protein by multiplying a factor of 6.38 in duplicate. Then the research data processed and analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2016 computer programs then by Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS), consecutively. Relationships between different tests were evaluated by calculating the relevant correlation coefficients (Pearson linear correlation) (p <0.05). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the differences between products with different manufacturing processes (p <0.05). Based on the analysis results, only two of the five samples studied has a minimum of 80% compatibility with the claim on the packaging label. Several main factors including inaccurate analysis, preparation processing on products that triggers protein denaturation, inadequate storage, and regulations that have just been set so that producers are still free to write Nutrition Value Information with a fairly low level of accuracy. This research is expected to be able to help the evaluation for producers and the government (BPOM) to be able to provide correct information to consumers so that maximum physiological benefits can be obtained.

Abstract

The unhealthy Lifestyle of office employees may affect cardiovascular disease risk and other chronic illnesses. In this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there’s a decrease in physical activity and exercise intensity in-office employees, while increasing psychological stress may reduce physical fitness. One of the solutions to these problems is by implementing tele-counseling and tele-exercise technology. The purpose of this study is to test the effects of tele-exercise and tele-counseling intervention against obese employees’ fitness levels. This study uses a pre-post-test quasi-experimental design on one group without a control group, with subjects consisting of males and females with BMI 25-30 kg/m2. Subjects received tele-exercise intervention for 30 minutes per session, three sessions per week for 12 weeks, while tele-counseling was done by Zoom and WhatsApp every day. Fitness tests include 1-minute push-up and sit-up count, sit-and-reach, and bleep test. Subjects experience significant improvement on all aspects of fitness level (strength, flexibility, and cardiorespiratory fitness), with the most significant improvement being flexibility. This study proves that tele-exercise and nutrition tele-counseling is an effective program to improve obese employees’ wellness. Moreover, this method is a good alternative for substituting direct, face-to-face exercise and nutrition counseling in this pandemic time.

Abstract

Taekwondo is a fighting sport that is part of international sports competitions. The existence of a weight-based class system aims to ensure a balance of strength, body size and range of motion between athletes who will compete. The class system based on body weight causes athletes to try to achieve the appropriate weight for the competition class before the match. An extreme and not adequately monitored weight loss program can affect an athlete's performance and even endanger the athlete's health. This case study aims to see the impact of providing nutritional intervention in the PON preparation period on changes in athletes' weight. The process of standardized nutrition care to help taekwondo athletes achieve body weight according to competing classes is gradual, safe and minimizes risk. The method used in this research is a case study with several subjects, as many as one athlete. Based on the results of this case study, it is known that giving a low-calorie diet for ten days of intervention showed an effect on the weight loss of athletes. At the end of the intervention period, there was a weight loss of 1.5 kg.
