Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects children's physical growth and cognitive development. The main cause of stunting is a lack of adequate nutritional intake from pregnancy to the age of two. This community service activity aims to increase mothers' knowledge about stunting and the importance of providing nutritious food in preventing it. This activity was carried out in Binjai Serbangan Village, Air Joman District, targeting mothers who have toddlers. The method used was counseling and demonstration of providing nutritious food using local food ingredients. A total of 45 mothers participated in this activity. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants' knowledge by 78% after the counseling. This activity succeeded in increasing mothers' understanding of the importance of a healthy diet and balanced nutrition for children. It is hoped that this activity can contribute to reducing stunting rates in the area. Active community involvement and cross-sectoral cooperation are very important in efforts to prevent stunting sustainably.

Abstract

Unintended pregnancy (KTD) is a serious problem in the world of reproductive health, including among health workers. This study aims to identify factors that contribute to the occurrence of KTD in health workers at RSU Ibu Kartini Kisaran in February 2023. This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through a questionnaire from 30 respondents who experienced KTD. The results showed that most health workers who experienced KTD were 20–30 years old, unmarried, and had limited knowledge about contraception. The main causal factors were lack of access to contraception, partner pressure, and social stigma against the use of contraception among health workers. These results indicate the need for educational interventions and internal hospital policies that support the reproductive health of health workers. This study is expected to be the basis for developing health promotion programs and reproductive counseling in the hospital environment.

Abstract

Anemia is one of the health problems that often occurs in adolescents, both boys and girls, and has a significant impact on academic achievement, physical activity, and growth and development. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of students of SMA Negeri 1 Kisaran regarding the dangers of anemia and the importance of early prevention. The method used is health education through interactive counseling and distribution of educational leaflets in August 2023. A total of 80 students from grades X and XI participated. The pre-test results showed that only 35% of students had sufficient knowledge about anemia, while after intervention through education, this figure increased to 87.5%. This activity proves that school-based education is very effective in increasing student awareness of anemia. It is hoped that similar activities can be carried out periodically as part of the UKS and promotive-preventive programs in schools.
