Abstract

This paper investigates the nexus between Islamic social finance and pesantren, focusing on its implications for the preparation of muballigh cadres. Grounded in the rich Islamic tradition, pesantren serve as pivotal institutions for molding future leaders deeply rooted in Islamic teachings. This study addresses a significant research gap by examining the specific impact of Islamic social finance within pesantren on the preparation of muballigh cadres, filling a void in the existing literature. Through qualitative analysis, it investigates how mechanisms such as waqf, zakat, and sadaqah influence the training of future Islamic preachers within these institutions. The findings highlight the role of Islamic social finance in sustaining pesantren operations, fostering community development, and shaping the ethical, social, and economic dimensions of muballigh cadres' preparation. Theoretically, this study expands the discourse on Islamic social finance by demonstrating its relevance and application in educational and leadership contexts within pesantren. It also offers practical recommendations for policymakers and practitioners to optimize these mechanisms in advancing the role of pesantren in Islamic education and community development.

Abstract

Perbedaan penetapan awal masuk bulan Dzulhijjah memberikan dampak pada ketentuan hukum terkait pelaksanaan puasa sunnah arafah, hari raya idul adha, dan hari qurban. Khususnya orang yang akan melakukan puasa arafah dan hari raya idul adha berdasarkan pada keraguan penentuan awal masuknya bulan Dzulhijjah yang berdasarkan pada kesaksian seseorang terhadap hilal Dzulhijjah namun ditolak oleh hakim dan seseorang yang yang menyaksikan hilal Dzulhijjah dan persaksiannya ditolak oleh hakim, apakah mereka boleh melaksanakan puasa arafah dan hari raya idul adha berdasarkan keraguan dan kesaksian yang tertolak ataukah mereka harus melakukan puasa arafah dan hari raya idul adha bersama dengan hakim dan kaum muslimin lainnya? Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mengetahui ketentuan hukum terhadap permasalahan tersebut berdasarkan pada risalah Ibnu Rajab Al-Hanbali dalam kitab Majmu’ Rasail tentang rukyat hilal Dzulhijjah. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis Studi Pustaka (libarary research) dengan menggunakan teknik prosedur pengumpulan data yaitu teknik pengkajian terhadap isi dari risalah Ibnu Rajab Al-Hambali tentaang rukyat hilal Dzulhijjah. Sedangkan teknis analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis isi (content analysis) terhadap kitab Majmu’ Rasail. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permasalahan yang diuraikan dalam risalah Ibnu Rajab Al-Hanbali, ulama berbeda pendapat mengenai ketentuan hukumnya. Sebagian ulama melarang untuk melakukan puasa dan hari raya idul adha dan sebagian yang lainnya membolehkan. Ulama yang membolehkan untuk melakukan puasa arafah dan hari raya idul adha seperti Ibnu Taimiyyah, memberikan syarat agar tidak melakukan sembelih qurban dikalangan kaum muslimin lainnya, akan tetapi melakukan penyembelihan qurban bersama dengan hakim dan kaum muslimin lainnya. The difference in determining the start of the month of Dzulhijjah has an impact on legal provisions related to the implementation of the sunnah fast of Arafah, the Eid al-Adha holiday and the day of sacrifice. In particular, people who are going to fast on Arafat and the Eid al-Adha holiday based on doubts about determining the beginning of the month of Dzulhijjah which is based on someone's testimony regarding the Dzulhijjah hilal but is rejected by the judge and someone who witnesses the Dzulhijjah hilal and whose testimony is rejected by the judge, are they allowed to fast? Arafah and Eid al-Adha holidays based on doubts and rejected testimony or should they observe the Arafat fast and Eid al-Adha holidays together with judges and other Muslims? Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze and find out the legal provisions regarding this problem based on Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali's treatise in the book Majmu' Rasail regarding the rukyat of the hilal of Dzulhijjah. This research is qualitative research with the type of library research using data collection procedures, namely the technique of studying the contents of Ibn Rajab Al-Hambali's treatise on the rukyat hilal of Dzulhijjah. Meanwhile, the technical data analysis used is content analysis of the book Majmu' Rasail. The results of the research show that regarding the problems described in Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali's treatise, scholars differ in their opinions regarding the legal provisions. Some scholars prohibit fasting and Eid al-Adha holidays and others allow it. Scholars who allow the fasting of Arafah and Eid al-Adha, such as Ibn Taymiyyah, provide conditions not to carry out sacrificial slaughter among other Muslims, but rather carry out sacrificial slaughter together with judges and other Muslims.

Abstract

This study highlights the significant contributions of Abdullah Syafi'ie to Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly through his dual roles as a preacher (muballigh) and educator. The primary objective of this research is to explore how Abdullah Syafi'ie’s innovative da’wah practices have influenced and strengthened educational institutions. By employing a mixed-methods approach, this study integrates a comprehensive review of existing literature with empirical field research. The data sources include books, journals, scholarly works, and field observations, as well as interviews conducted with individuals knowledgeable about Abdullah Syafi'ie’s work. The analysis reveals Abdullah Syafi'ie's excellence in both preaching and education, highlighting his remarkable abilities in literary and managerial domains, which have played a crucial role in the establishment and development of educational institutions. His innovative approaches in integrating modern educational concepts with da’wah strategies, particularly through the use of media and strategic preaching, have led to the successful advancement of these institutions. This study offers valuable insights into the relationship between religious leadership and educational reform, demonstrating the profound impact of Abdullah Syafi'ie's contributions on the evolution of Islamic education in Indonesia. The findings have significant implications for future research and practice in the fields of da’wah and education.

Abstract

The problem of the independence of children with special needs when entering adulthood becomes a separate thought for parents. However, problems related to job opportunities are a problem for all graduates, both senior high and tertiary institutions. Job opportunities are limited, while the current government is still busy with unemployment and human resource development issues. Assistance to them is essential, considering that children with special needs are unique. They require a long period to interact with the environment, and sometimes, they struggle to participate fully and effectively like other citizens. The obstacles they face can be heavy, moderate, and light, depending on the characteristics or types of barriers of each individual with special needs. Even though the conditions they experience are mild and they already have several work skills, they often get social rejection in the world of work, or in some cases, these individuals with special needs have difficulty adapting, so they need assistance. This community service program is expected to help find solutions through activities that involve parents. These universities handle citizens with special needs, local governments, and people who care about children with special needs. Parental involvement and support in this program are very much needed, and the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) is the right tool to analyze their needs and get to know their potential in the future.

Abstract

The effective management of zakat institutions depends significantly on the competence of amil zakat and their alignment with da'wah professionalism to fulfill religious and operational expectations. This study investigates the role of the Pusdiklat (Training and Education Center) and the LSP (Professional Certification Institution) in advancing da'wah professionalism and enhancing the competence of amil zakat in Indonesia. This paper adopts a qualitative approach. The research gathered data through in-depth interviews and document analysis from multiple zakat institutions partnered with Pusdiklat and LSP. Findings indicate that Pusdiklat's training programs have significantly improved amil zakat knowledge, skills, and attitudes while strengthening essential aspects of da'wah professionalism. Meanwhile, certification provided by LSP has facilitated the assessment and recognition of amil zakat professional competence, bolstered public trust in zakat institutions, and improved operational efficiency. However, challenges such as financial limitations, limited awareness about the importance of certification, and the need for enhanced collaboration among Pusdiklat, LSP, and zakat institutions were identified. In conclusion, this study finds that bolstering the competence of amil zakat through LSP holds substantial potential to elevate the performance and professionalism of zakat institutions in Indonesia.

Abstract

Integrating digital technology in education has revolutionized learning across diverse fields, including religious education. This study explores how Islamic da'wah leverages digital platforms to enhance digital learning in the context of spreading da'wah in society, addressing challenges such as information accuracy, language barriers, and the balance between traditional and digital methods. Through a literature review and qualitative research, the study identifies and analyzes strategies employed by preachers to promote digital learning. The findings underscore the significant role of online platforms, mobile applications, online courses, e-learning, digital resources, virtual communities, and discussion forums in spreading Islamic da'wah in Indonesia. The substantial engagement with digital da'wah content from various Islamic teams highlights its impact. This research deepens understanding of the influence of digital learning on Islamic education, emphasizing its value as a complement to traditional face-to-face preaching. The study provides insights for Islamic preachers and educators, urging the refinement of digital learning initiatives to enhance the impact of Islamic education in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to investigate the optimization of social media for da'wah among students enrolled in the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting at the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta. Method - Employing qualitative methods, particularly in-depth interviews, this research selects students aged 18–24 within the early adulthood category. Through a comprehensive analysis, it seeks to understand the nuances of privacy management in the process of personal disclosure on Instagram and examines the influence of satire and sarcasm on students' confidence levels. Result  -  The results of this study reveal that, overall, KPI-UMJ students exhibit effective privacy management during personal disclosure on Instagram. However, the prevalence of satire and sarcasm on the platform negatively impacts the confidence of students in sharing private narratives. Additionally, the research highlights the diverse views and motivations of students in optimizing Instagram for da'wah. Implication – The findings hold implications for both academia and practitioners involved in da'wah efforts on social media. Understanding the impact of satire and sarcasm on student confidence provides insights for educators and policymakers to develop strategies that foster a more conducive environment for private disclosures. Originality - This study contributes to the existing literature by offering nuanced insights into the challenges faced by KPI-UMJ students in optimizing Instagram for da'wah. The study's focus on the diverse motivations and perspectives of students in this context enhances the originality and depth of the research. *** Tujuan - Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui optimalisasi media sosial untuk dakwah di kalangan mahasiswa yang terdaftar di Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam di Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. Metode - Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, khususnya wawancara mendalam, penelitian ini memilih mahasiswa berusia 18-24 tahun yang termasuk dalam kategori dewasa awal. Melalui analisis yang komprehensif, penelitian ini berusaha untuk memahami nuansa manajemen privasi dalam proses pengungkapan diri di Instagram dan meneliti pengaruh sindiran dan sarkasme terhadap tingkat kepercayaan diri mahasiswa. Hasil - Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa, secara keseluruhan, mahasiswa KPI-UMJ menunjukkan manajemen privasi yang efektif selama pengungkapan diri di Instagram. Namun, prevalensi sindiran dan sarkasme di platform berdampak negatif pada kepercayaan diri mahasiswa dalam berbagi narasi pribadi. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menyoroti beragamnya pandangan dan motivasi mahasiswa dalam mengoptimalkan Instagram untuk dakwah. Implikasi - Temuan penelitian ini memiliki implikasi bagi akademisi dan praktisi yang terlibat dalam upaya dakwah di media sosial. Memahami dampak sindiran dan sarkasme terhadap kepercayaan diri mahasiswa memberikan wawasan bagi para pendidik dan pembuat kebijakan untuk mengembangkan strategi yang mendorong lingkungan yang lebih kondusif untuk pengungkapan pribadi. Orisinalitas/Value - Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada literatur yang ada dengan menawarkan wawasan yang bernuansa tentang tantangan yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa KPI-UMJ dalam mengoptimalkan Instagram untuk dakwah. Fokus penelitian ini pada motivasi dan perspektif mahasiswa yang beragam dalam konteks ini meningkatkan orisinalitas dan kedalaman penelitian.

Abstract

This study examines the evolution of research related to Islamic da’wah in Indonesia, sourced from reputable Scopus-indexed journals from 1995 to 2023. It explores author productivity and related keywords that depict Islamic da’wah’s development in Indonesia. This research employs bibliometric analysis techniques and descriptive statistical approaches, utilizing the biblioshiny tool and R program to identify recommended research keywords with significant potential for future development. The research findings indicate that “social media” emerges as a frequently occurring keyword in studies on Islamic da’wah in Indonesia. Furthermore, two research paths emerge as recommendations for future development: the authority of Islamic da’wah in Indonesia and Islamic da’wah in the digital era. This investigation holds significant importance for stakeholders, including government authorities, Muslim preachers (da’i), and Muslim scholars, as it provides fundamental insights into the development of Islamic da’wah literature in Indonesia, thus offering prospective research directions.

Abstract

Zakat, a core pillar of Islam, serves as an essential tool for wealth redistribution and socio-economic welfare. Despite Indonesia being home to the largest Muslim population globally, research on its zakat potential remains underdeveloped. This study aims to map the zakat potential across 510 cities and districts in Indonesia and propose strategies for optimizing zakat collection. Using the Indicators for Zakat Potential Mapping (IPPZ) framework developed by PUSKAS BAZNAS in 2019, secondary data from various official sources were aggregated to estimate zakat potential by province and zakat object. The results show that DKI Jakarta has the highest potential, totaling IDR 64.5 trillion, followed by East Java and West Java. Zakat on agricultural products, livestock, cash, corporate zakat, and professional income are the key contributors to this potential, with regional variations. The study's novelty lies in its detailed local-level zakat mapping, offering fresh insights into regional zakat potential. Additionally, it presents innovative strategies for enhancing zakat collection through decentralized efforts at the village, sub-district, and city levels, contributing to more effective zakat management and socio-economic development in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article examines Shaikh Muhammad al-Ghazali's preaching thoughts regarding the concepts and principles of da'wah. Apart from exploring the character of Shaikh Muhammad al-Ghazali and his work in the field of Islamic da'wah, this article analyzes several issues related to the concept and principles of da'wah. In both books, he discusses in detail the meaning of preaching, the theme of preaching, the approach to preaching and the media of preaching. This research found that Muhammad al-Ghazali was an accomplished world-class preacher. His various theories and ideas related to da'wah are very brilliant in the context of advancing contemporary da'wah, both related to the provisions of preachers, the approach and also the media for implementing da'wah as well as the problems of da'wah and solutions that can be used by preachers in the future
