Abstract

This research aims to analyze the performance improvement of circulation service librarians at the Library and Archives Service of Solok City through the implementation of matrix codes. The methodology used is descriptive quantitative research by distributing questionnaires to 99 respondents consisting of librarians and library visitors. The results show that 45.45% of respondents strongly agree, 54.54% agree, and no respondents disagree or strongly disagree with the use of matrix codes in circulation services. More specifically, it was found that 54.54% of respondents agree that matrix codes simplify and accelerate librarians' work in entering new library members' biodata. The implementation of matrix codes allows visitors to register as library members independently by simply scanning the matrix code and filling out personal data through a digital form. This reduces queues at circulation services and increases time efficiency for librarians in serving other visitors. Additionally, the application of matrix codes also helps reduce paper usage and minimize the risk of errors in recording new member data. This research demonstrates that the implementation of matrix code technology has had a positive impact on improving the performance of circulation service librarians at the Library and Archives Service of Solok City by simplifying and accelerating the registration process for new library members.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the management of inactive archives at the Padang City Fisheries and Food Service. Inactive archives are archives that are rarely used but still have administrative, legal, and financial use value, so they must be stored systematically. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results showed that the management of inactive archives in the agency has not run optimally. The problems found include the absence of standard operating procedures (SOPs), low competence of human resources, limited storage facilities and infrastructure, and the absence of a digitalbased archival information system. In addition, the archive classification process has not yet referred to the Office Manuscript and the selection of inactive archives is not carried out based on the analysis of the use value of the archives. The organization of archives is also not systematic and not in accordance with ideal archival principles. Therefore, strategic efforts are needed in the form of drafting internal policies, training human resources, procuring supporting facilities, and implementing information technology to support professional and accountable archive management according to national standards.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed various aspects of life, including the provision and utilization of information sources in higher education institutions. Libraries, as centers of learning resources, are required to adapt to these changes, one of which is through the provision of electronic resources (e-resources). This study aims to analyze how the utilization of e-resources services at the University of Andalas Library contributes to increasing students' reading interest. Using a quantitative descriptive method, the research involved a sample of 100 respondents from various faculties. The results show that e-resources such as e-journals and e-books are the most frequently accessed types of digital collections by students. There is a significant positive correlation (r = 0.631, p = 0.000) between the frequency of e-resources usage and students' reading interest. However, challenges such as limited digital literacy and lack of training still hinder optimal usage. The findings highlight the strategic role of university libraries in promoting academic literacy by enhancing access, conducting information literacy training, and adopting user-centered service strategies.
