Abstract

Language maintenance is a person’s effort to maintain and preserve their language when interacting with others. This study aims to describe the use of the language Gorontalo in society, the factors that influence the maintenance of the Gorontalo language, and strategies for maintaining the Gorontalo language carried out in Kayu Kelor village, Ratolindo subdistrict, Tojo Una-una Regency. The research uses qualitative decriptive research methods. The findddings indicate that (1) language use in the family domain predominantly follows the BG+BM, in the neighborhood domain, the BG+BM, in the employment domain the BM+BI, in the religious domain, the BM+BG. The preservatioan of the Gorontalo language influeced by family, social interactions, communication intesity, activies, and personal desire. The strategies preservation Gorontalo language using the Gorontalo language as a means of communication and intergrating language and culture.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the need for innovation in teaching methods to improve students' ability to identify information in descriptive texts. At MTs Al-Ikhlas Bilungala, conventional teaching approaches often failed to motivate students, resulting in their low understanding of the material. The Scramble learning model was chosen because it is considered capable of creating an interactive, collaborative, and enjoyable learning atmosphere to address these challenges. This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, results, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in using the Scramble model for teaching the identification of information in descriptive texts in Grade VII at MTs Al-Ikhlas Bilungala. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. The findings reveal that the lesson planning was designed for two meetings, its implementation followed the prepared lesson plans (RPP), and the results showed an increase in students' scores from an average of 65 in the pre-test to 80 in the post-test, with 80% of students meeting the minimum mastery criteria. The supporting factors in the learning process include interactivity, collaboration, and the use of diverse roles, while the inhibiting factors involve varying levels of student participation and difficulties in understanding texts. Overall, the Scramble model proved effective in improving students' understanding, despite some challenges that need to be addressed.

Abstract

This study was conducted to address the challenges of enhancing student motivation and engagement in news text analysis learning at SMPN 1 Telaga by utilizing gamification through the Genial.ly platform. The study describes the implementation of gamification in news text analysis learning using the Genial.ly platform in class VII at SMPN 1 Telaga, as well as students' responses to this approach. The method used is qualitative descriptive, with data obtained from observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that 85.71% of students achieved learning mastery. The implementation of interactive quizzes and a points system successfully created a dynamic learning environment, improving student motivation, participation, and understanding. Although there were technical challenges, the implementation was effective in increasing engagement. Adjustments to the method based on student feedback are necessary for more optimal learning outcomes in the future.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengulas bagaimana perempuan penulis dari Sulawesi menyorot ragam persoalan keperempuan. Persoalan dituliskan dengan menempatkan paradigma gender, lokalitas, biologi, popular culture, hingga ekologi untuk menopang jalannya rangkaian peristiwa. Pertanyaan penelitian ialah bagaimana perempuan memandang serta mendekonstruksi diri di tengah gempuran ideologi toxic masculinity? Metode deskripsi kualitatif digunakan untuk menemukan jawaban pertanyaan. Teori feminisme digunakan demi melihat toxic masculinity bekerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan cara dominasi toxic masculinity mereporoduksi gagasan opresi terhadap perempuan serta kerasnya perjuangan perempuan penulis untuk memenangkan gagasan kebebasan dan eksistensi dengan cara melawan dominasi toxic masculinity. The research aims to review how women writers from Sulawesi highlight various female issues. Issues are written by placing the paradigms of gender, locality, biology, popular culture, to ecology to support the course of a series of events. The research question is how do women perceive and deconstruct themselves in the midst of the onslaught of the ideology of toxic masculinity? Qualitative description method is used to find answers to questions. Feminism theory is used to see toxic masculinity at work. The results show how the domination of toxic masculinity reproduces the idea of ​​oppression against women and the hard struggle of women writers to win the idea of ​​freedom and existence by fighting the domination of toxic masculinity.
