Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of second grade students of SD Bawakaraeng in mathematics subjects, one of which is in learning math story problems. The problem that arises is what are the mistakes and causes of student errors in solving math story problems based on Newman's procedure at SD Bawakaraeng. The purpose of this study was to describe students' mistakes in solving math story problems and describe the causes of students' errors in solving math story problems based on Newman's procedure at SD Bawakaraeng. The student error analysis procedure used is the Newman procedure. This type of research is qualitative research. Data was collected by using test and interview techniques with 5 students as research subjects. The data analysis technique used Milles and Huberman model analysis. Test the validity of the data is done by triangulation technique. The results showed that the data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, correlation analysis The conclusion was obtained, students tried to implement the Newman procedure when working on math problems. However, due to lack of familiarity, there are often steps that are not taken, namely at the step of understanding the problem, transformation and process skills. As for the 5 steps of the Newman procedure, the results obtained are step 1) reading errors, none of the students made any type of reading errors; step 2) misunderstanding, new mistakes made by students when understanding the problem as many as 4 students; step 3) transformation, on the transformation error of students who make mistakes as much as 1 student; Step 4) process skills, all students make mistakes; and step 5) writing answers, as many as 4 students who made mistakes. There are 3 factors that cause students to make mistakes, namely: 1) difficulty understanding the problem; 2) do not understand the concept and operation of division; 3) and for forgetting and not being careful. The solution offered to minimize student errors in solving story problems is to increase the practice of working on story questions and make story questions in a more communicative language.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the CPS Type Problem Based Learning learning model on solving math problems for fifth-grade students at Bawakaraeng Makassar State Elementary School. The research design used is The One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, which is a research design carried out with an initial test and a final test. The sampling model used is a non-random sampling technique using sampling technique. The population is fifth-grade students of Bawakaraeng Makassar State Elementary School with a research sample of 20 students in class fifth-grade. The research was carried out for 4 meetings. Data collection techniques used were learning outcomes tests to measure students' problem-solving skills before and after participating in learning using the Problem Based Learning CPS learning model, and student activity observation sheets to observe student activities during the learning process. So the results of the study showed that the average score of the pretest (Pretest) was 63 and there were 10 students (50%) who completed it. While the average score of the final test (Posttest) for students' Mathematics learning outcomes is 83.25 and there are 16 students (80%) in the complete category. Based on the results of the study, the application of the CPS Type Problem Based Learning learning model affects solving mathematical problems in fifth-grade students of Bawakaraeng Makassar State Elementary School.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of Geometry grade IV students at SD Bawakaraeng 1 with the application of quartet game media. Using the Descriptive Analysis method of classroom action research, namely studies used to collect, process, analyze, interpret and conclude data so that a systematic picture is obtained in increasing activity and learning outcomes. The subjects in this study were all 24 students of grade IV. The instruments used were test sheets and student activity observation sheets. Data collection techniques are tests and observations. There was a significant increase after applying the quartet game media in learning geometry. The average percentage of positive activity was in the good category, namely 73.95%, while in cycle 2 it was in the very good category, namely 85.39%. For the percentage of negative activity in cycle 1 of 12.5% and cycle 2 of 4.1%, this means that positive activity has increased and negative activity has decreased. And there was an increase in the number of students who had completed or reached KKM, namely as many as 11 students or 45.83% in cycle 1 and as many as 21 students who completed or 87.5% in cycle 2. There was an increase in student learning outcomes from cycle 1 to cycle 2 percentage of 41.67%. This shows that the application of quartet game media on geometry material can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes at SD Bawakaraeng 1 Makassar city.
