Abstract

Latar Belakang: Farmasis remaja memiliki peran dalam pembangunan kesehatan. Salah satu kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah penerapan swamedikasi. Tujuan: Pentingnya peran farmasis remaja dalam swamedikasi mendorong dilakukannya kegiatan pengabdian dengan tema pengenalan peran farmasis remaja dalam swamedikasi. Metode: Peserta diberikan pretest dan selanjutnya diberi intervensi berupa materi umum terkait swamedikasi, diskusi dan praktek swamedikasi bersama tutor. Media yang digunakan berupa materi dalam bentuk power point, modul dan alat peraga. Kegiatan diakhiri dengan melakukan posttest pada peserta yang sama. Hasil: Hasil pretest menunjukan bahwa hanya 14 peserta (20,29%) yang memiliki pengetahuan baik, sedangkan 50 peserta (72,46%) berpengetahuan cukup dan 5 peserta (7,25%) memiliki pengetahuan kurang. Nilai rata-rata hasil pretest adalah 57,10. Setelah diberi intervensi, hasil posttest menunjukan bahwa 66 peserta (95,65%) memiliki pengetahuan baik, sedangkan hanya sejumlah 3 peserta (4,35%) yang masih memiliki pengetahuan cukup. Nilai rata-rata posttes adalah 85,60. Kesimpulan: Adanya peningkatan nilai ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian intervensi dalam program pengenalan farmasis remaja dalam swamedikasi yang diberikan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa SMK Pelita Bangsa Yogyakarta tentang swamedikasi. Perlu dilakukan penelitian sejenis dengan jangka waktu antara pretest dengan posttest lebih dari 1 bulan.

Abstract

. Angka kesakitan penyakit diare meningkat dari tahun ke tahun. Penderita diare di D.I. Yogyakarta (DIY) tergolong tinggi. Dari data Laporan pelaksanaan Tugas Tahunan TA 2022, jumlah penderita diare yang ditangani sesuai standar di Kabupaten Sleman pada tahun 2022 sebanyak 24,15%, cakupan ini terbilang rendah meskipun sudah mengalami peningkatan dari tahun 2021 sebesar 12,23%. Swamedikasi merupakan salah satu tindakan dalam mengobati penyakit yang dialami dengan cara pemilihan serta penggunaan obat oleh seseorang tanpa resep dokter. Menurut Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), persentase masyarakat yang melakukan swamedikasi meningkat dari 80,68% pada tahun 2021, menjadi 82,74% pada tahun 2022. Swamedikasi yang dilakukan secara tidak tepat dan benar dapat menimbulkan berbagai masalah pengobatan, timbul penyakit baru karena efek samping obat, dan peningkatan biaya pengobatan akibat penggunaan obat yang tidak rasional. Berdasarkan hal tersebut perlu dilakukan pemberian informasi yang mendukung dalam pelaksanaan swamedikasi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat demi meningkatkan kualitas hidup untuk mencegah terjadinya komplikasi akibat penanganan diare yang kurang adekuat. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah warga Pedukuhan Rejodani, Kecamatan Ngaglik, Sleman. Evaluasi yang dilakukan melalui perbandingan nilai pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil analisisi pemberian informasi melalui kegiatan penyuluhan/sosialisasi dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat dari 86% menjadi 96,19% tentang diare dan swamedikasinya.

Abstract

Background: The decreased physiological function is influenced by age and degenerative diseases. Degenerative diseases can be caused by free radicals. Neutralization of free radicals can be done by giving antioxidants. However, synthetic antioxidants cause many side effects so that natural antioxidants are needed from natural ingredients. Celery (Apium graveolens L.) is a natural antioxidant that can be used as antioxidant because celery contains flavonoid compounds. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of different solvents of ethanol 96%, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane in the extraction of celery herbs on the free radical scavenging activity of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Method: Celery herbs were extracted using the maceration method to obtain ethanol 96%, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane extracts. The extract was then tested for its free radical scavenging activity using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The principle of the DPPH method is that a hydrogen atom binds to a free radical, causing the free radical to become a non-radical. Result: The results showed that 96% ethanol extract of celery had the highest antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 4.084 g/mL, followed by ethyl acetate 15.250 g/mL, and n-hexane 28.206 g/mL. Conclusion: which the three solvents could be categorized as very active.

Abstract

Purple cabbage (Brassica oleracea L. Var. Capitata F. Rubra) is known to have anti-inflammatory activity, so it can be used as a medicine to treat inflammation, especially in breastfeeding mothers. To make it easier to use, it is made into a gel formulation. One of the compounds in purple cabbage is anthocyanin which is in the form of glycosides bound to sugar molecules (cyanidin-3 diglucoside-5-glucoside). These compounds have important effects on the body, one of which is anti-inflammatory. To make it easier to use, it is made into a gel formulation. One of the bases used in the formulation of gels is carbomer. Carbomer has better characteristic in terms of the release of active substances compared to other gel bases. The purpose of this study was to make a gel formulation and to determine the effect of purple cabbage extract gel characteristic on the stability of the physical properties of the preparation. The gel was made using a carbomer base with various extract concentrations of 2.5%, 5% and 7.5%. The gel was tested for its physical characteristic including organoleptic, viscosity, pH, dispersionfor 21 days as well as a preference test. The analytical method used is ANOVA with a 95% confidence level and a Likert scale as a comparative test for the formulation based on the respondents' preferences. The results of the gel formulation using a carbomer base with variations in the concentration of the extract showed that the physical characteristic test of all variables showed that all the formulas met the requirements of the physical preparation, namely homogeneous, viscosity with a value below 50,000 cps, a suitable pH of less than 6, and dispersion in line with the viscosity value. The results of the preference test showed that F2 had the best acceptance and many respondents chose it. The conclusion of this study is that all formulas show results that are in accordance with the requirements of the gel preparation. The difference in extract concentration did not show a significant difference to the length of storage time

Abstract

Background: Bacteria are one of the organisms that cause infectious diseases. One of the bacteria that can cause infection is Staphylococcus aureus. Treatment of bacterial infections is by using antibiotics, but using the antibiotics for a long term can cause resistance. It is necessary looking for alternative compounds that can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle is a plant that has antibacterial compound, that compounds are flavonoids and tannins.Objective: To determine the antibacterial activity of Cymbopogon nardus ethanol extract against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 using the well method.Method: Cymbopogon nardus is extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. A phytochemical screening test was carried out and continued with an antibacterial activity test using the well method with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%.Results: Phytochemical screening show that Cymbopogon nardus ethanol extract contains saponins, flavonoids, steroids and tannins. The results of the antibacterial test showed that the average inhibitory zone value of Cymbopogon nardus ethanol extract at concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% was 23.00; 23.77; 24.96 mm, whereas at concentration of 5% it did not show an inhibition zone for the Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 259323 bacteria.Conclusion: Cymbopogon nardus ethanol extract has antibacterial activity against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 259323 with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) which is able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 259323 at concentration of 10%, for concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% it has an inhibitory power of very strong category.

Abstract

Background: The breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis (Park) Fosberg.) is an Indonesian herbal plant that has long been used as a traditional medicine by the community, especially the leaves. Breadfruit leaves treat various diseases such as canker sores, hepatitis, inflammation, skin diseases, hypertension, asthma, fever, and aches and pains. Breadfruit leaves have various pharmacological properties, such as antiseptic, antibacterial, and antioxidant. This activity is related to the content of flavonoid compounds in breadfruit leaves. These flavonoid compounds can be obtained by extraction using conventional methods, namely maceration and non-conventional methods, namely Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction (UAE). The choice of extraction method is an important factor in producing secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of extraction methods on total flavonoid levels in breadfruit leaves. Method: Breadfruit leaves were extracted using the maceration and UAE methods with 96% ethanol solvent at a ratio of 1:10 b/v. Qualitative tests were carried out using organoleptic tests and thin-layer chromatography (TLC) tests. Quantitative test by measuring the total flavonoid content of macerated and UAE breadfruit leaf extract using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The qualitative data obtained were then analyzed statistically using SPSS with Independent Samples T-Test with a confidence level of 95%. Results: The yield value of the maceration method was 11.8976% and the UAE method was 11.0854%. The results of the TLC test of breadfruit leaf extract produced an Rf value of 0.812 which was the same as the standard Rf value of quercetin, namely Rf 0.812 and the total flavonoid content produced by the UAE method was 44.689 ± 0.1764 mg QE / g extract, and the maceration method 42.3322 ± 0.3792 mg QE / g extract which was significantly different (p <0.05) Conclusion:  The extraction method influences the total flavonoid content in breadfruit leaves, whereas the UAE extraction method produces higher flavonoid levels than the maceration method.

Abstract

Daun kayu bulan (Pisonia alba Span.) merupakan tanaman hias yang diketahui memiliki kemanfaatan sebagai antioksidan yang diperankan oleh metabolit sekunder antara lain flavonoid dan fenolik. Kedua senyawa tersebut dapat diperoleh dengan cara ekstraksi salah satunya dengan metode Ultrasound Assisted Extraction (UAE). Untuk mendapatkan senyawa yang diinginkan secara maksimal, diperlukan adanya suatu optimasi salah satunya terhadap waktu. Pada penelitian ini, ekstraksi sampel dilakukan dengan metode UAE menggunakan pelarut etanol 70% dengan variasi 6 waktu ekstraksi yaitu 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 dan 90 menit. Hasil ekstrak diuji terhadap kandungan flavonoid dan fenolik dengan metode KLT dan spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Berdasarkan analisa kualitatif dengan KLT diperoleh pada seluruh ekstrak mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan fenolik dengan nilai Rf 0,5875 dan 0,6375 secara berurutan. Pada analisa kuantitatif, adanya perbedaan pada kadar flavonoid dan fenolik dengan adanya perbedaan waktu ekstraksi. Waktu ekstraksi yang menghasilkan kadar tertinggi baik pada flavonoid maupun fenolik adalah 45 menit dengan kadar berturut-turut 6,345 ± 0,009 mg QE/gram dan 15,6438 ± 0,0199 mg GAE/gram. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa 45 menit merupakan waktu ekstraksi optimum ekstraksi daun kayu bulan dengan metode UAE.
