The objective of this was to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of rosella leaves and the optimum concentration that can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi bacteria. The antibacterial activity test was carried out by the well method with the treatment groups of ethanol extract of rosella leaves at concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%. The results of this study showed that the ethanol extract of rosella leaves with concentrations of 20%; 40%; 60%; 80% and 100% had antibacterial activity against S. aureus with the mean diameters respectively 8.23, 10.45, 10.48, 13.20, 15.45 mm and S. The typhi are 9.63, 10.67, 10.77, 12.78, 13.97 mm. The optimum concentration that can inhibit the activity of S. aureus and S. typhi bacteria is at a concentration of 100%.
