Abstract

This action research-based writing training is a component of the community service initiative organized by social studies lecturers at the Teacher Training Faculty of Tanjungpura University. The training adopted an action research approach, which involved some cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. This approach was chosen to encourage participants to share their insights to improve the training quality. The research goal was to gather teachers' perceptions and recommendations for enhancing the quality of action research-based academic writing training. The study involved 33 secondary school Social Studies teachers taking place at SMK 2 Singkawang. To collect data, an open-ended questionnaire was utilized. The results revealed that teachers faced challenges in accessing internet resources and suggested extending the duration of the training. They also recommended providing more comprehensive information and examples for each section of the research article. Lastly, the teachers expressed a positive view of the training.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the influence of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model on the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students in the subject of Social Science. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design method, involving both a control group (lecture-based teaching model) and an experimental group (TGT cooperative learning model). The research yielded results indicating that there was no significant influence of the conventional learning model on learning outcomes, as evidenced by the asymptotic significance (2-tailed) value of 0.053 which means that is higher than 0.05. Furthermore, the study demonstrated a significant influence of the TGT learning model with an asymptotic significance (2-tailed) value of 0.000 which is lower than 0.05. The research findings indicate that the TGT model has a significantly greater impact on students’ social science learning outcomes compared to the conventional learning model, with an effect size of 0.368, which falls into the medium category

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the influence of the discovery learning teaching model on the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students in the subject of Social Studies. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving both a control group (lecture-based teaching model) and an experimental group (discovery learning model). The research yielded results that indicated no significant influence of the lecture-based learning model on learning outcomes, as evidenced by the paired sample t-test with a two-tailed significance value of 8.728, which is higher than 0.05. Furthermore, the study demonstrated a significant influence of the discovery learning teaching model on students' learning outcomes, as confirmed by the Wilcoxon test, which showed a two-tailed significance value of 0.016, lower than 0.05. This research finding also indicated a significant impact of the discovery Learning teaching model on learning outcomes, with an effect size of 0.977, categorizing it as a medium effect

Abstract

There is a perspective if intellectual intelligence is the only factor in achieve learning achievement so that efforts to develop emotional intelligence do not noticed. This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on social science learning achievement in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Ambawang. This research using quantitative methods with a population of 112 from class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Ambawang. Sampling using the simple random sampling technique, so obtained a sample of 88. Data collection using a questionnaire and social science value data as research instrument, then to look for the effect of emotional intelligence on achievement study social science using a simple linear regression test using SPSS 24. From the results of data collection known if there are 47 samples that have high emotional intelligence and 41 with a level moderate, then from the Social science final exam scores there were 76 samples who passed and 12 people did not complete. It was found that the R square value was 0.616, this result is significant if emotional intelligence affect social science learning achievement by 61.6%. From the value of R square it can be concluded if intelligence emotional has an influence on social science learning achievement in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Ambawang.

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether there is a difference in the way males and females encounter conflict to find a resolution in friendship relationships among Social Studies Education students. The research employs a quantitative approach with a survey method using purposive sampling, involving a total of 91 participants who have experienced conflicts, consisting of 26 male students and 65 female students. Data collection utilizes a questionnaire adapted from Johnson, and data analysis employs descriptive statistics. The results indicate that 1) conflict management strategies employed by male and female students in friendship relationships within Social Studies Education predominantly involve collaboration, with an average percentage score of 21.38 for male students and 21.45 for female students, and 2) the research findings based on gender differences show (p > 0.05 = 0.67 > 0.05, t = 0.42, df = 89), indicating no significant difference in conflict management between male and female students.
