Abstract

The use of plastic is widely known in everyday life, with a variety of advantages (light but strong, transparent, waterproof, low price). But besides having advantages, conventional plastics also have disadvantages, namely that they are difficult to decompose and pollute the environment when they burn. The need to reduce the use of conventional plastics and replace them with the use of bioplastics in the community is still often socialized, one of which is to students at SMA Nasional Malang. The aim of training and socializing environmentally friendly bioplastics is so that students can reduce the use of conventional plastics and switch to using environmentally friendly products, as well as being able to make bioplastic products. The result of the bioplastic making training is that students are able to make eating and drinking utensils made from bioplastics with various models they like. Through socialization, students began to change their lifestyle by reducing the use of conventional plastics and switching to using environmentally friendly products. To better understand the dangers of conventional plastics to the environment, students compared the biodegradability of conventional plastics and bioplastics. The result is that bioplastics break down faster than conventional plastics. Knowledge of bioplastics and their raw materials is new to them. From the questionnaire, it was found that Malang National Senior High School students were very interested in the training provided, some wanted to make various bioplastic product creations independently and hoped that there would be other training to help students develop their knowledge and creativity.

Abstract

Sumberdem Village in Wonosari Subdistrict, Malang Regency, has agricultural products in the form of medicinal plants, one example is African leaves. This plant is used as a tea product for consumption by diabetics. SMKN 1 Wonosari is a partner that produces African leaf tea. To make African leaf tea products, use a dryer. The drying machine owned by SMKN 1 Wonosari was not optimal due to several problems when we used it. There were 3 problems when the team used the partner's dryer, namely the location of the heating element was not optimal so that the drying of the African leaves was not evenly distributed, the sharp edges of the racks could cause work accidents and the wheels on the drying mat were not strong enough to withstand the load. The solution to the problem used is repairing the dryer. There are 3 methods in community service activities carried out to achieve the outcome, namely the approach method, the reverse engineering method and on the job training. The result of this activity is an African leaf drying machine using a heating element on each shelf. This drying machine with 1450 watts of power has the advantage that the results of drying African leaves can be evenly distributed, drying time is faster and safer to use. The use of this drying machine partners can save production costs of Rp. 7,403 for every 4kg of wet African leaves.

Abstract

UMKM Arwati merupakan UMKM yang bergerak dibidang homestay dan dormitory. Usaha ini telah berdiri sejak tahun 2016 dengan ruang kamar saat itu sebanyak 20 kamar di satu lokasi. Seiring waktu, melalui pelatihan manajemen pengelolaan usaha menjadi semakin berkembang dari yang awalnya 20 kamar menjadi 100 kamar pada tahun 2018. Peningkatan usaha ini perlu penanganan serius untuk mempertahankan income pelaku usaha, dengan cara menerapkan 5R pada lokasi usaha. Berdasarkan pengamatan tim abdimas, permasalahan 5R merupakan hal yang penting sebab sekalipun peminat homestay dan dormitory banyak dan terdapat karyawan yang dipekerjakan di tempat usaha, namun masih minim pengetahuan akan 5R. Kondisi yang tidak teratur rapi dan kurang bersih di tempat usaha ditengarai akan menurunkan minat pengguna UMKM Arwati Homestay dan Dormitory maupun investor. Oleh karena itu dilakukan sosialisasi mengenai 5R kepada pelaku usaha, karyawan serta pengguna homestay dan dormitory. Hasil yang diperoleh setelah menjalankan 5R selama beberapa bulan yaitu lokasi usaha menjadi semakin rapi, bersih, teratur. Karyawan semakin terbiasa dalam menjalankan 5R yang akhirnya juga diikuti oleh pengguna homestay dan dormitory. Perluasan usaha UMKM dengan menarik investor untuk menambah kamar homestay dan dormitory tercapai, sehingga saat ini total kamar yang dimiliki sebanyak 130, dan income pelaku usaha meningkat.
