Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the application of the guided inquiry learning model assisted by concept maps on the scientific literacy of junior high school students in the city of Mataram. The research was conducted through a pretest-posttest design with a non-randomized control group. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The sample of 90 students was divided into three classes, where the first-class applied guided inquiry learning assisted by concept maps, the second class applied inquiry learning without the help of concept maps, and the third class applied conventional learning. All classes were given a pretest and posttest scientific literacy. Data in the form of pretest and posttest scores were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with the Least Significance Difference (LSD) test at 5% alpha. The results showed that the mean score of students' scientific literacy in the class that applied the guided inquiry learning model assisted by concept maps was significantly higher than the mean score of the conventional class. The conclusion is that there is an effect of the implementation of the inquiry learning model assisted by the concept map method on students' scientific literacy

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of a project-based learning model with a science, technology, and society approach to students' mastery of class VIII concepts. This type of research is a quasi-experimental type using a non-equivalent control group design. The population of the study was students of SMP Negeri 7 Mataram for the 2021/2022 academic year with a sample consisting of 74 class VIII students. The data obtained were analyzed using the Covariate Analysis test (anacova) with reference to a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study show that the sig. (p) = 0.000 less than alpha 0.05, so it can be concluded that the project-based learning model with a science and technology community approach has a significant effect on junior high school students' conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study examines the use of creative teaching materials in building students' creative thinking skills. The research sample was 53 students of class X one of the public high schools in Mataram. Instruments for learning activities include creative teaching materials modified by the Writing to Teach approach, student books, and data collection instruments. Creative dispositions were measured using closed questionnaires on curious, persistent, imaginative, collaborative, and disciplined aspects. Students' creative thinking skills were measured using a creative thinking skills test in the form of five essay questions on viruses. The results of the study show that the use of creative teaching materials triggers creative dispositions in the five aspects of inquisitive, persistent, imaginative, collaborative, and disciplined aspects, and also improves creative thinking skills where the average score of classes using creative teaching materials is higher than the average score in classes using books student package. Students' creative thinking skills improve in all aspects of creative thinking skills (flexibility, fluency, elaboration, and originality). This shows that the use of creative teaching materials provides better conditions for the development of student's creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Given the importance of globalization and the need to train students' thinking skills and broad knowledge to prepare them to face the demands of the 21st century work, education from the start needs to look more critically at educational practices and learning methods that should be directed. This study seeks to examine the effect of applying the guided inquiry model with the Self Regulated Learning approach to students' creative dispositions and creative thinking skills in high school biology learning. To achieve this goal, a sample of 70 students at one of the State Senior High Schools in Mataram, NTB. Subjects were purposively grouped into the experimental class, namely learning using the Guided Inquiry Model with the Self Regulated Learning (IT-SRL) Approach and the control class using the Ordinary Guided Inquiry (IT) model. Data on students' creative dispositions were obtained from a creative disposition questionnaire while data on students' creative thinking skills were obtained from tests of creative thinking skills which were compiled based on indicators of creative thinking skills. Hypothesis testing in this study uses. The results of the ANCOVA test showed that students who were taught using the guided inquiry model using the self-regulated learning (IT-SRL) approach had better creative dispositions and creative thinking skills than students who were taught using the inquiry method (IT).

Abstract

At this time in the educational environment there is a lot of worrying behavior and acts of violence. One of the most frequent acts of violence is bullying behavior. Bullying often occurs caused by the character education students have. This study aims to develop an integrated inquiry e-book of character education to minimize bullying. This research is development research using a 4D development model. The technique of collecting bullying data is using a questionnaire instrument and an observation sheet. The data analysis technique used quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on the data obtained from the results of the analysis carried out, it can be concluded that the integrated inquiry e-book of character education can reduce bullying behavior in students. Most of the bullying behavior before being given treatment was in the moderate category. After being given treatment using an e-book, the perpetrator's awareness behavior can reduce/reduce intimidation. In addition, there is an increase in empathy from witnesses of bullying behavior so that it can emphasize bullying behavior. The character education integrated inquiry e-book that was developed is suitable for use in science learning and can reduce bullying among students. This is because the e-book has been facilitated with character education and actions that should not be done by students

Abstract

Practicum has been widely recognized as an effective approach to enhance science process skills. However, traditional practicums may not be sufficient in improving integrated process skills. To address this issue, the current study aimed to introduce the open inquiry practicum model and investigate its impact on basic and integrated process skills among prospective biology teacher students. The study was conducted during the odd semester of 2022-2023, where selected courses utilized practicums both in and outside of the laboratory to facilitate open inquiry learning. A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design was conducted to assess the effect of open inquiry practicum on students' science process skills. Data was collected from observing the practicum process utilizing the open inquiry learning model, as well as pretest and posttest results of science process skills. Treatment effect was analyzed through Mann-Whitney test with an alpha level of 0.05. The open inquiry practicum model consisted of experimental design preparation, practical field and laboratory work, data collection and analysis, data presentation, and uploading practical activity products in the form of posters and videos to YouTube. The results indicated a significant improvement in students' science process skills through the implementation of the open inquiry practicum.

Abstract

The development of entrepreneurial literacy is crucial for students to prepare themselves to benefit from the current development of the Mandalika Lombok Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The purpose of this study is to develop a project-based science module focusing on biopreneurship to enhance students' entrepreneurial literacy. This research is a development study that adopts the Dick and Carey model. The research data consist of a description of the development of the science module and its theoretical feasibility. The feasibility of the science module is analyzed using Aiken’s V formula. The research results indicate that the expert assessment of the feasibility of the biopreneurship-based project-based science module shows a percentage of 77.3% in the category of being suitable for use. Meanwhile, the biopreneurship project worksheets have a percentage of 73.9% in the category of being suitable for use. Additionally, the learning steps have a percentage of 80.0% in the category of being suitable for use in teaching and learning. The conclusion of this study is that the development of the project-based biopreneurship science module can be effectivelyi used to enhance students' entrepreneurial literacy.

Abstract

The biopreneurship project-based science module is teaching material designed to combine biological concepts with entrepreneurship through project-based learning. This research aims to develop a biopreneurship-based science module valid for increasing students' scientific literacy, entrepreneurial motivation, and environmental literacy in the Bagek Kembar Ecotourism Area. This research is development research using the ADDIE model, namely Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The development and validation stages of the module were carried out at the University of Mataram and SMA Negeri 1 Sekotong. The research instrument was a validation questionnaire given to science experts and teachers. The validity of the Science Module is based on the Aiken V Index. The results of the biopreneurship project-based science module validity show that the Aiken V Index for the size and appearance of the module cover, module design, module content, and language used are 0.95, 0.95, 0.93, and 0.94, respectively. Included in the valid category. This research concludes that the biopreneurship project-based science module is suitable for use in schools to increase students' scientific literacy, entrepreneurial motivation, and environmental literacy in Bagek Kembar ecotourism.
