Abstract

Background: Adolescent girls are particularly vulnerable to iron-deficiency anemia due to increased nutritional demands during growth, regular iron loss through menstruation, and inadequate dietary intake. This condition negatively affects concentration, physical development, and overall productivity. Objective: This community engagement initiative aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge and awareness of anemia prevention through school-based health education and iron supplementation. Methods: A school-based health promotion activity was conducted on June 17, 2025, at SMPN 11 Samarinda, involving 15 participants. The intervention included a pre-test, interactive educational session, post-test, and distribution of iron supplement tablets. Evaluation was carried out using the Wilcoxon test and participatory observation. Results: The intervention led to a statistically significant improvement in participants’ knowledge of anemia prevention (Z = -3.457; p < 0.001), with median scores increasing from 7 to 9 and interquartile range narrowing from 2 to 1, indicating more consistent understanding. Conclusion: This school-based educational initiative effectively enhanced health literacy among adolescent girls regarding anemia prevention and supports broader promotive-preventive health strategies aligned with national and global health agendas.

This community service aims to provide elementary school students with an understanding of the importance of saving. It is also hoped that it can contribute to educating the younger generation with an awareness of saving from an early age. By saving, every child will learn to be independent and not depend on their parents. Saving habits will be better if they get encouragement and motivation from parents. The method of implementing community service is carried out through 'socialization'. Partners in this activity are SDN 027 Kota Bangun, Kota Bangun III Village, Kota Bangun Darat District, Kutai Kartanegara. The number of students who took part in the activity was 30 people, namely those from class IV. Abstract

The era of digitalization gives complete freedom to individuals, both parents and children, especially regarding access to all the information disseminated on social media. Of course, the number of gadgets is increasing among children, which has positive and negative effects. Therefore, this service activity aims to socialize digital parenting as a parental strategy to educate their children to use gadgets in a more targeted and time-bound way to reduce the negative impact of gadget use among children. The approach that will be taken is to provide learning or knowledge about the importance of understanding digital education, having the ability to use mobile phones, being critical of the media, and giving understanding through good delivery. At Mulawarman University's community service activities in Jenebora Village with the Digital Parenting Socialisation Work Programme, we delivered educational material about the importance of parents in educating children in today's digital age, which both parents and children attended. It is hoped that through this socialization, parents will increase their supervision of their children. Parents also hoped that this socialization in educating children in the digital era would be the first step in avoiding the harmful effects of mobile phone use on children.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of a daily home-based learning program implemented in Rumah Pintar, Pantai Lango. The program aimed to improve the academic skills of children aged 3-12 years who were experiencing learning difficulties. The intervention, conducted from July 12 to August 2, 2024, provided a structured learning environment outside of school hours. Participants were divided into groups based on their academic levels, addressing needs ranging from basic literacy and numeracy to English language learning. Results indicated that the program was successful in enhancing participants' abilities in reading, writing, and mathematics. However, challenges such as fluctuating daily attendance, attributed to a lack of parental awareness about the importance of home learning, were encountered. Despite these challenges, the program demonstrated the potential of non-formal, home-based learning initiatives in addressing the educational needs of children in underserved areas.
