Abstract

Introduction: A cesarean section is a risky operation that could make some people anxious. Failure to alleviate patient anxiety during a cesarean section might compromise the patient's ability to undergo the procedure since it affects their circulatory, gastrointestinal, respiratory, and muscular systems. Rose aromatherapy is one of the non-pharmacological methods that may be used to manage anxiety prior to surgery. Objective: Patients undergoing spinal anesthesia for a caesarean section might benefit from this community service project's non-pharmacological methods of anxiety reduction, which included the use of rose aromatherapy. Method: As a community service project, we inhale rose aromatherapy for four minutes after placing a cotton ball about two centimeters from the patient's nose and adding six drops of rose aromatherapy to it. Result: According to the findings of this community service project, thirteen participants (43.3%) reported moderate anxiety and seventeen (56.7%) reported severe anxiety prior to the use of rose aromatherapy. A total of 11 subjects (36.7%) reported mild anxiety, 18 reported moderate anxiety (60%) and 1 reported severe anxiety (3.3%) after receiving rose aromatherapy. Conclusion: Based on the results of this Community Service activity, it can be concluded that rose aromatherapy can reduce preoperative anxiety in patients who will perform sectio caesarea.

Abstract

Introduction: As a kind of therapy, surgery involves cutting into the patient in order to reach the targeted location of the body. The risk of hypothermia is a potential consequence of anesthesia. A dangerous drop in core temperature, below 36 degrees Celsius, causes hypothermia. One way to alleviate cold symptoms is using a warm compress. An alternative to using hot packs to raise core temperature is a warm compress. Hot packs have many advantages over buli-buli, the most notable of which is that they can be reused and never run out of steam. Objective: This community service activity is to implement hot packs on hypothermic patients. Method: As part of their community service, volunteers take patients' temperatures using electronic thermometers. Including thirty individuals who were found to have hypothermia. Result: Impact of Volunteer Work Hypothermia after administration of a hot pack, with a pre-package average temperature of 35.20 degrees Celsius Average core temperature before administration of the hot pack: 36.50 °C Body temperature values ranged from 34.10C before implementation to 36.70C thereafter, with a low value of 35.10C and a high value of 35.90C before and after, respectively. Conclusion: This proves that there is an increase in body temperature in hypothermic patients after implementing Hot packs.

Abstract

Introduction:. Anxiety is a frequent psychological reaction in patients before surgery. Patients should psychologically prepare for the operation since they will likely be afraid of needles, the pain that will accompany the incisions, the anaesthesia, and the potential complications that might arise, such as permanent impairment or even death. Objective: Efforts to improve the knowledge and skills of preoperative sectio caesarea patients about autogenic therapy techniques to reduce anxiety at the Banjarnegara Islamic Hospital. Method: Methods carried out Identifying the anxiety scale of activity participants before autogenic therapy using the APAIS anxiety measuring instrument, identifying the level of knowledge of participants before education related to autogenic therapy by filling out a questionnaire. provide education related to autogeni Result: After being given education, the majority of participants' knowledge level was in the high knowledge category of 20 participants (87%). Community Service participants education and implementation of autogenic therapy through audio visual media at Banjarnegara Islamic Hospital showed that before implementation, the majority of participants' anxiety was in the category of severe anxiety as many as 13 participants (56.5%) While after the implementation was given, the majority of participants' anxiety category was in the mild anxiety category as many as 13 participants (56.5%). Conclusion: The findings of this activity show that patients' anxiety levels go down after receiving autogenic treatment and their knowledge goes up after receiving instruction.

Abstract

Introduction: A caesarean section is a surgical delivery technique in which the infant is removed through incisions in the mother's abdomen and uterus. Each delivery procedure might exert psychological effects on the mother, especially with anxiety. A non-pharmacological approach to mitigate anxiety involves educating patients about spinal anaesthesia with audiovisual materials. Objective: This community service project aims to provide education through audiovisual means to reduce tension and lower anxiety in pre-operative caesarean section patients undergoing spinal anesthesia. Method: The method involved delivering a 10-minute audiovisual education session to 30 participants and measuring anxiety using the APAIS tool in the labor ward. Result: The results show that the level of anxiety before the education was categorized as mild anxiety for 6 participants (20.0%), moderate anxiety for 15 participants (50.0%), severe anxiety for 6 participants (20.0%), and very severe anxiety for 3 participants (10.0%). After the education, the majority of participants reported mild anxiety at 17 (56.7%), moderate anxiety at 10 (33.7%), severe anxiety at 2 (6.7%), with no participants reporting very severe anxiety (0%), and 1 participant (3.3%) reported no anxiety. Conclusion: The conclusion of this community service project is that education on spinal anesthesia using audiovisual media is quite effective in reducing anxiety in pre-caesarean section patients

Abstract

Introduction: Choking in young children occurs when a foreign object enters the airway and blocks the flow of oxygen. This condition is dangerous because it can cause hypoxia and even death. One effective treatment is first aid using the Heimlich maneuver technique. Objective: This community service program aims to determine the level of knowledge and skills of mothers in managing airway obstruction caused by foreign objects in children aged 2–5 years using the Heimlich maneuver in Randegan Village, Wangon District. Method: This community service program was conducted through education using audiovisual media, distribution of leaflets, and pre-tests and post-tests to measure the participants' level of knowledge. The activity was attended by 30 mothers who had children aged 2–5 years in Randegan Village, Wangon District. Result: The results showed that before the education, the majority of participants had insufficient knowledge (14 participants or 46.7%) and unskilled skills (20 participants or 66.7%). After the education, good knowledge increased to 23 participants (76.7%) and skilled skills to 25 participants (83.3%). Statistical analysis showed that the increase in knowledge and skills was significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Education has been proven to improve mothers' knowledge and skills in handling airway obstruction in toddlers using the Heimlich maneuver technique.
