Abstract

The implementation of character education in the current school environment is considered lacking. With these problems, researchers tried to solve the problem by inserting character values into the learning process. Teachers must choose and match character values through the materials to be taught, then apply them to learning. The implementation of character education in the current school environment is considered lacking. With these problems, researchers tried to solve the problem by inserting character values into the learning process. Teachers must choose and match character values through the materials to be taught, then apply them to learning. Snowball throwing is a suitable method for implementing responsibility and environmental care character education. The approach in this research is descriptive qualitative using the percentage formula. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, questionnaires, and observation. The primary data sources in this study were principals and teachers and were strengthened by student opinions as secondary data sources. The results showed an increase of 3.8% in students' understanding of the character of responsibility and care for the environment after using the snowball throwing method, with 82% in the excellent category.

Abstract

One problem that often arises in science learning is the low enthusiasm of students to take part in learning, which impacts learning outcomes. The learning method used by the teacher is still reasonably monotonous. The solution is that teachers must innovate and be creative to increase student activity and enthusiasm for learning. One solution is to use learning media that can arouse students' enthusiasm. This study aims to produce science learning media, namely the magic card box for water cycle material, to determine the feasibility of learning media and students' understanding of the water cycle material. This research is development research using a 3-D model. Learning media of the magic card box is validated by material experts, media experts, and learning practitioner assessments. The development instrument is a questionnaire consisting of thirteen indicators distributed to 25 students as respondents. Learning Media The magic card box was tested on fifth-grade students. Validation data and data on the level of understanding of students' cognitive aspects were analyzed quantitatively. Learning media Magic card boxes are produced through the stages of defining, designing, and developing. According to media experts, the learning media feasibility test results obtained a final score of 4.2 with a very good category. Then in the field trial, a score of 4.82 was obtained in the very good category. Students' understanding of the water cycle material based on cognitive aspects obtained an average score of 81.1. Shows that the Magic Card Box Media on the water cycle material is valid, practical and can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is a way to identify talents and teach according to students' different learning styles. Digital-based differentiated learning is an innovation in elementary school teaching and learning processes. This research aims to determine the use of digital-based differentiated learning models in improving science problem-solving in elementary schools because students tend to experience difficulties understanding the material taught in science subjects, and students are still lacking in developing the ability to solve science questions. This research method used quantitative research methods with the Pre-Experimental Design One Group Pretest-Posttest research model. The research sample consisted of 29 grade IV students who had a learning style of 76% visual, 14% auditory, and 10% kinesthetic. Data collection techniques used tests and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used the Z test and the Mann-Whitney U test. The research results for the Mann-Whitney test obtained a significance value of 0.001, meaning 0.001 0.05, so Ho was rejected, and Ha was accepted. Thus, the use of digital-based differentiated learning models can improve science problem-solving in elementary schools. The research findings indicate that digital-based differentiated learning models significantly enhance science problem-solving abilities.
