Abstract

Gambier (Uncaria gambir Roxb.) is one of the alternatives used as a natural colouring agent in foods and drinks. The aim of this research was to develop extract gambier as a hair dye. Gambier extract was obtained by macerated with water in base condition (pH 8-10). The resulting extract was evaluated for hair adhesion, organoleptic, physical, chemical and irritation test to rabbit’s skin. Viscous gambier extract has 0HUE value of 338.73 ± 0.116 (purple), can be processed into permanent hair colour cream with 0HUE value of 42.167 ± 0.231 (red), pH 8, ammoniac odor, produce red yellowish hair with 0HUE value of 53.43 ± 0.060, fulfil requitment for microbiology, not iritant to rabbit's skin has density of 0.903 0.006 g/L and viscosity of 13,100 ± 0.000 cP.

Abstract

Averrhoa bilimbi L. fruits and Kalanchoe pinnata (Lam.) Per. leaves are useful as anti bacterial. The extracts containing the compound bufadienolides have the potential to be used as an anti bacterial. The purpose of this study to fi nd the best formula of the preparation facial wash gel with the active substance from the combination of extracts. Search methods extract concentration using the agar diff usion to obtain regional Diameter Inhibition (DDH) of each extract and the combinations. Research conducted with 3 forrmula containing extracts with diff erent concentrations. The results of the evaluation of the preparation at room temperature storage does not change the color, shape and scent. Retrieved best formula is the formula I containing a concentration of 0.7% resulting extract preparations light green and scented perfume. The results of the evaluation of the formula I at room temperature after 3 month storage include: high foam in hard water 17 mL, high foam in distilled water >25 mL, the specifi c gravity 1.0386 g/cm3, surface tension 19, 3627 dyne/cm, viscosity 853,33-1103,33 cPs, pseudoplastis fl ow properties, pH 5.16, anti bacterial test results using Diameter test Inhibitory Region shows constraints on Staphylococcus aureus by 5,0±0 mm.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is defined as giving breast milk to a baby without any additional drink, food or beverages during the first 6 months after birth. Today there is a decline in exclusive breastfeeding, and among others, one reason is the increase in the participation of mothers in the workforce, especially in urban areas. Many factors that affect the regularity of exclusive breastfeeding by working mothers, one of which, is the demographic factor. This study aims to obtain profile data of exclusive breastfeeding by working mothers and statistical modelling of exclusive breastfeeding by working mothers based on demographic factor, by conducting a survey on 384 respondents. This research uses descriptive analysis and logistic regression analysis with SPSS software version 15.0. Descriptive analysis showed that most mothers working in Jakarta (61.2%) did not give exclusive breastfeeding. Logistic regression statistical analysis showed that age, occupation, distance to work, and travel time to the workplace of working mothers are dominant factors that influence exclusive breastfeedings, with the p-value is smaller than the p value (Sig) = 0.05.
