Abstract

The development of digital technology in the world of education is currently growing very rapidly, one of which is digital books. Digital books become more interesting if they can present the real environment around students in a virtual form. One technology that can present the real world environment into digital objects and can interact is Mixed Reality. The purpose of this research is to produce a Mixed Reality-based Digital Book on algebra material that is valid and feasible to use in improving students' numeracy literacy skills so that it can support learning. This study uses the Borg and Gall research and development pattern method. Data is taken through expert validation and readability tests for product testing. In the media expert validation which includes general aspects, aspects of learning presentation, aspects of language feasibility, aspects of graphics meet the valid criteria with an average value of five validators 89.2%. In the material expert validation which includes general aspects, aspects of material substance, learning aspects, aspects of usefulness meet the valid criteria with an average score of five validators 92.6%. In the readability test, teachers and lecturers obtained an average of 86% and the readability test on students obtained an average of 80%. Based on the results of media and material validation along with the Mixed Reality-based Digital Book readability test on algebra material, it is concluded that it is valid and feasible to use. The implication of this research is that it makes it easier for students to learn by using digital books to support learning in the classroom so that they can improve their achievement.

Abstract

Creative thinking is the cognitive activities that process the received information to produce new representations. Therefore, it is necessary to develop creative thinking and represent a problem. This study aims to investigate the students' creative thinking processes based on representation in solving mathematical problems reviewed from cognitive style. Qualitative research was used as a procedure of the study. The data was collected through MFFT questionnaires, mathematics problem tests, and interviews. This research involved 31 eighth-grade students at one of junior high school in Kendal regency, Central Java. Those two subjects represented the reflective and impulsive cognitive styles that have been selected based on their mathematical abilities. The data was analyzed through iterative method. The results of the study showed that both subjects demonstrated a different performance in solving problem. In term of fluency, both subjects used visual representations in interpreting information. On the originality, the reflective subject used symbolic representations. while the impulsive one used symbolic and verbal representations in constructing the mathematical expressions. However, both of them have not yet created new ideas in solving problems. Moreover, on the flexibility, these both subjects used visual and symbolic representations that could solve the problems by utilizing the environment objects towards the interpret problems into mathematical expressions. However, the reflective subject made a mistake in elaborating the formula as well as the impulsive subject can do it. These results indicated that both subjects have used the representation of each indicator of creative thinking in solving problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this research in general is to develop statistics teaching materials in the form of e-modules by applying Microsoft excel in it. The implementation of the use of statistics teaching materials in lectures is still not optimal. This research offers solutions for the use of teaching materials in the form of e-books that are easy to understand in statistics courses to increase student learning independence. This activity emphasizes more on measuring the achievement of e-modules clearly in their application and implementation in learning. This research usesĀ  the Borg & Gall research and development pattern methodĀ  with 10 steps. The results showed that the assessment of media aspects in the form of E-books by media expert validators covering general aspects, aspects of material substance, aspects of language feasibility, and aspects of graphic feasibility obtained a percentage of 88.7% were in very good qualifications. Assessment on the material aspect found that the percentage of product feasibility of 95% was in very good qualification. From the assessment of media experts and material experts, the products in this study are feasible or valid to use. In the readability test by students, the average percentage is 80.6%, meaning that it is very easy to understand.
