Abstract

This research was conducted because of the low critical thinking skills of students caused by the inappropriate use of learning models. POGIL and GI learning model is used as a learning model in accordance with the curriculum 2013. Where is aims to determine whether or not there is a difference application oflearning model Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) with Guided Inquiry (GI) learning model in students critical thinking skills on chemical equilibrium material. This research was conducted at SMAN 101 West Jakarta. The research method used in this research is experimental method, with research design the static group pretest-posttest design. The samples were taken by sampling purposive and divided into two experimental groups that is POGIL experimental group and GI experimental group. The technique of collecting data obtained through test instrument in essay form as many as 15 item which then analyzed by using t-test. The result of t-test is obtained by sig. 2-tailed = 0.000 and significant level (a) = 0.05. So that sig. 2-tailed smaller than significant (a) (0.000 <0.05) then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. This shows that there are significant differences in the application of learning model Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) with learning model Guided Inquiry (GI) in students critical thinking skills. The results of this study can be used as a recommendation of innovative learning models in teaching and learning activities in the classroom. Abstract

Student misconception is one of the important concerns in educational research because it is disturbing students to understand the scientific concepts in learning. Misconceptions often occur in Chemistry learning, one of them on the concept of Buffer Solution. This study aims to identify students' misconception on the concept of Buffer Solution using Four-Tier Multiple-Choice (4TMC) test instrument in SMA Negeri South of Tangerang. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The study was conducted on 07 August to 05 September 2019. The subjects of this study are the students of XII grade MIPA program in SMA Negeri South of Tangerang academic year 2019/2020 with the number of samples 134 students taken from four classes using the technique of Cluster Random Sampling. The research data was obtained from the students' answers on the 4TMC test questions. The data is processed based on the pattern of student answers are then grouped into the category of student understanding that is misconception, lack of knowledge, error, and understand the concept. The results showed that there was a misconception with a percentage (48,51%), and significant misconceptions identified in 2 of 5 subconcepts of Buffer Solution investigated, they are the subconcept of Buffer Solution Calculation (14.92%), The Role Of Buffer Solutions In The Body Of Living Things (15.67%). The result of the identification of student misconception is expected to identify misconceptions that occur in the students to be handled more quickly so as not to impede the students in learning. Abstract

This study aimed to determine student’s knowledge and science competence based on socio-scientific issues (SSI) of colloidal system material. A total of 313 class XII students in four schools representing South Tangerang City High School participated in this study. Sampling was done using cluster random sampling technique. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method with survey research. The instruments used were 22 essay questions. The obtained quantitative data were analyzed by scoring and converted into percentages. Based on the results of the study, it showed that the scientific literacy ability of students on aspects of science knowledge and competence is in quite good category with the percentage of achievement obtained respectively at 58.39% and 57.89%.
