Abstract

In Christian tradition, the call to be the salt and light of the world is a well-known teaching, yet its profound meaning is often overlooked. This study aims to explore the significance and application of Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5:13-16, where He commands His followers to function as salt that enhances flavor and light that dispels darkness in the world. The research methodology used is a hermeneutical textual analysis, focusing on the historical and social context in which this text was delivered. This study discusses the distinct functions of salt and light and their relevance in the everyday life of Christians. The findings highlight that salt and light are not merely roles but are essential identities of a Christian that should be reflected in their lives. A key insight from this study is the understanding that while salt works invisibly, it has a significant impact, while light must be visible to drive out darkness. The research confirms the importance of Christians as agents of change through lives that reflect Christ's love and truth. In conclusion, being the salt and light of the world requires sacrifice and the willingness to live according to Christ's teachings, bringing positive impact to one's surroundings and glorifying God.

Abstract

The real man was created in a likeness to God the Creator -who created the universe with the words of his word, so that man could be a representation of god in this world. Yet, from time to time, it has often been a disregard for the power of the words of god that have been placed in his mouth and heart (Deuteronomy 30: 14). Problems arise when man uses his words without understanding of the truth and is not based on an attitude of respect and respect for the divine power embodied in them. The purpose of this study is to describe the effects of humans as bearers of God’s word based on Genesis 1:3.26 as applied in Genesis 2:19 and Numbers 14:22-23. In this study, the methods used are descriptive qualitively with an approach to an understanding and understanding of the God reflected in each human.

Abstract

Dance is strongly connected to life, freedom, salvation, restoration and victory over the enemies. The Bible uses the word dance for the first time in the verse when Miriam took her tambourine and led the Israelites in a victorious dance after they had been set free from the Egyptians, who chased them into the red sea. God gave them salvation, victory, deliverance, and life. Miriam’s dance was a respond and expression of victory over the enemies (Ex. 15:20). Dance or body movement is a language of communication equal to words, music, or other expressed art. For this reason, when a dance is communicating the word of God, for certain people or in certain situations then it could becalled a prophetic dance. To be a dancer is a great calling. A calling to bring back what has been taken from heaven, a calling to love God more and more, a calling to make a new covenant between men and God. Prophetic dance is a way to serve God through dance. In this way a dancer is not an artist who chooses to be served rather than to serve. But the principle is when one is appointed to be a leader, the more is his responsibility to serve his brethrens. Every movement is a body language to communicate the messages. Within the context of dance, every movement should carry a message in a way that people would understand the meaning when they see the dance.

Abstract

This research focuses on the importance of Mandarin language proficiency for active students of Sekolah Tinggi Teologi (STT) Kerusso in the context of global evangelism missions. The urgency of this study lies in the growing role of foreign languages, particularly Mandarin, in reaching unreached communities across different parts of the world. With a large number of Mandarin speakers worldwide, proficiency in this language is essential for those involved in evangelism missions to establish effective communication and expand the mission's reach. The primary objective of this research is to demonstrate the importance of foreign language proficiency, especially Mandarin, for active STT Kerusso students involved in global evangelism missions. This study aims to provide insights for theological education institutions in designing curricula that better support foreign language acquisition as an integral part of mission preparation. This research employs a qualitative method with an approach that includes in-depth interviews, literature review, and participatory observation. Interviews were conducted with active students and alumni of STT Kerusso who have been involved in evangelism missions in Mandarin-speaking communities. The collected data were analyzed descriptively to identify key themes related to the role of foreign languages in evangelism. The findings of this study are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the urgency of foreign language proficiency in global evangelism missions and offer strategic recommendations for STT Kerusso in preparing its students to face future challenges in evangelism.
