Abstract

The nutrition content of seaweed in the form of agar, carrageenan, and algin caused seaweed had an important meaning in industry. One type of seaweed that can be used as food ingredients was the type of seaweed Eucheuma cottonii (Aslan, 1991 in Khasanah, 2013). E. cottonii seaweed can be used as a source of nutrition because it generally contains carbohydrates, protein, a little fat and ash which are mostly salt compounds such as sodium and calcium. Seaweed can grow well and got high quality if cultivated at the appropriated depth location. This study aims to determined the effect of hanging raft placement at different depths on the nutrient content of seaweed Eucheuma cottonii. The material used in this study was Eucheuma cottonii seaweed obtained from seaweed farmers in the waters of Doda Bahari Village, Sangia Wambulu District, Central Buton Regency. The raft used is 4 x 2 meters in size. The experimental design used in this study was Randomized Design Group (RAK). Grouping was done based on the distance from the lowest low tide coastline with different depth treatments, namely Group I: Location (Starting from the lowest receding coastline) with depth (A) 0.5 m, (B) 1 m, and (C) 2 m. Group II: Location (100 meters from lowest ebb) with depth (A) 0.5 m, (B) 1 m, (C) 2 m. Group III: Location (100 meters from Group 2) with depth 0.5 m (A), (B) 1 m, (C) 2 m. To find out the difference number of Eucheuma cottonii nutritional performed statistical tests Of Variant analysis (ANOVA) was performed used the SPSS application. If it was significantly different, proceed with the Smallest Significant Difference test (BNT) (Steel and Torrie, 1993). Whereas water quality supporting data such as temperature, salinity, brightness, current speed, pH, nitrate and phosphate were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the nutrient content of seaweed (Protein, Fat and Carbohydrate content had no significant effect on the hanging raft placement at a depth of 0.5 meters, 1 meter and 2 meters. Water quality during the study was still in a reasonable range.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the dose of the amino acid methionine in the feed on the growth of red tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Tilapia measuring 5-7 cm were stocked in plastic drum containers with a diameter of 180 cm and a height of 60 cm with a density of 20 fish per container. The test feed is PIU (General Fish Feed) with 20-22% protein. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The research treatments were: 1) Methionine 0%, 2) Methionine 0.25%, 3) Methionine 0.50%, and 4) Methionine 0.75%. The results showed that the addition of methionine to a commercial feed of 0.75% showed the highest growth rate and good feed conversion compared to other treatments (P<0.05). The water quality measurement values obtained in this study are still within the range that supports the growth of tilapia.

Abstract

The study aims to find out and increase knowledge about the reproduction broodstock of vaname shrimp in PT. Esaputlii Prakarsa Utama. The data analysis methods used are descriptive and quantitative analysis. Vaname shrimp broodstock management techniques activities start from water procurement, tub/pond preparation, broodstock procurement, acclimatization, eye abalation, maturation and maintenance including feed management and water quality, spawning, hatching eggs to harvesting. The results showed that the amount of feeding ranged from 500 grams/tub for squid feed, 1 kg/tub for sea worm feed. Broodstock who are able to spawn have an average of 41-42 /day from an average number of 333 shrimp. The percentage of female vanames that spawn ranges from 84%/day. The number of eggs produced by vaname shrimp reached 100,250–261,923 eggs in one month, the average egg that was fertilized was 9,668,333 and produced naupli as many as 8,955,000. The water quality parameters obtained during the research were still in a good range for vannamei shrimp.

Abstract

The success of the aquaculture business is closely related to the optimum environmental conditions for the survival and growth of the fish being reared, so it is necessary to improve the aquatic environment. One of the filters that can be used to purify water is by utilizing activated carbon from kapok banana peels. Banana peels contain pectin and cellulose. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of various uses of activated carbon from kapok banana skin (Musa acuminate L.) with different doses as a filter in a recirculation system on ammonia concentrations in tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) aquaculture. The fish-rearing containers used were basins with a diameter of 50 cm and a height of 30 cm, totaling 12 pieces, while the filter containers in the form of PVC with a diameter of 3” were 12 pieces. 120 test organisms were used with a size of 5-7 cm. Feeding with a protein content of 25-30% is carried out 2 times a day at 08.00 and 16.00 WITA with a dose of 5% of body weight. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely Treatment A (Usual Filtration), Treatment B (Filtration using activated carbon of kapok banana peels as much as 5 g), Treatment C (Filtration using activated carbon of kapok banana peels as much as 10 g) and Treatment D (Filtration using 15g of kapok banana skin activated carbon). The use of activated carbon in kapok banana peels can reduce ammonia levels and increase the survival rate in tilapia cultivation when compared to without the use of activated carbon in kapok banana peels.
