Abstract

The dry season often causing hundreds of hectares of rice fields suffer from drought, coupled with reduced discharge of irrigation water sources. This problem can be experienced by  the farmers in various areas, including in the District of  South Payakumbuh. As an alternative to solving the problem if there is such a thing is to build a small dam that is used to store water for the rainy season and used for the dry season. This paper will discuss about availability of water, irrigation water requirements, analyze capacity small dam, operating time opening the sluicegate,  rice area  which can be irrigated  and calculate the  dimensions  of the  spillway. From the calculation of available water discharge approximately 159.33 l / dt, maximum irrigation water requirement of 1.204 l/sec/ha,  the maximum reservoir for irrigation around 12577.177 m3. Rice area which can be  irrigated calculated every hour on each opening  the sluicegate as high as 0.1 m, 0.15 m, 0.20 m, 0.25 m, and 0.30 m for 10 hours and a maximum rice area which can be irrigated successively measuring 195.424 ha, 284.876 ha, 368.494 ha, 445.991 ha and 517.042 ha in the first hour. Furthermore, at the tenth hour rice area which can be irrigated successively an area of 182.966 ha, 237.896 ha, 268.727 ha, 276.084 ha and 261.411 ha. Spillway using Ogee type summit with a summit height of 7.94 m and 1 m high surveillance. Keywords: small dam, water requirements, storage capacity

Abstract

Crib is a structure that used to adjust the direction of flow of the river to protect riverbanks from direct flow. Laboratory model used to demonstrate the phenomenon of flow patterns that occur in the river’s turn around the crib. Crib models that will be used in this study is a crib with a permeable type with dimensions 0.15 m length, 0.03 m width and 0.15 m height. Materials to be used in permeable crib is a plain iron with 10 mm diameter. The variable in this study is flow rate and distance between the crib. The flow rate varies 0.00134 m³/sec, 0.00298 m³/sec and 0.0056 m³/sec. The distance between crib varies between 30 cm, 40 cm and 50 cm from the beginning of the turn of the river entrance. The flow velocity that occurs around the crib shrink in every variety test. The flow patterns on every variation of the distance between crib with 0.00134 m³/sec of flow rate, the vortex of flow occurs in the early part of the crib. The flow patterns on every variation of the distance between crib with 0.00298 m³/sec of flow rate, the vortex of flow occurs in the early part of the crib. The flow patterns on every variation of the distance between crib with 0.0056 m³/sec of flow rate, the vortex of flow occurs on the side of the crib end. The length of the vortex occurs differently in each variation of the distance between crib at 30 cm, the length of the vortex is relatively short. At a distance of 40 cm, the length of the vortex is relatively long and at a distance of 50 cm, the length of the vortex is quite long.Key word : flow pattern, river’s turn, permeable crib

Abstract

This study examines variations in the initial time of observation based on the Hijri calendar which aims to determine the most accurate time to make observations in the field. The analysis of this research used the Admiralty method with hourly observation data for 15 days. The data uses tide data in Kotabaru waters and simulated against two hundred and forty-three time variations. The results of the data analysis show that the smallest average root mean square error (RMSE) resulting from the 15-day tide prediction is 16.68 cm, which is the prediction of the start date of the 16 Hijri calendar. So that the most appropriate time to make tidal observations in the field for tidal predictions in Kotabaru waters is on the 16th of each Hijri month or during the fourth moon phase (humpback month). The value of the formzhal number obtained is 0.66, so the tidal type in the study location is included in the semi-diurnal tide type classification.Key words: beginning time, admiralty method, RMSE.

Abstract

The sluice gate is a hydraulic structure that used for controlling the discharge on dam or irrigation canal. Their discharge coefficient depends on geometric and hydraulic parameters. Swamee (1992) presents two formulas for calculating the discharge coefficient (Cd) for free flow and submerged flow based on Henry’s Curve (1950). Laboratory models used to find out the flow phenomenon that was formed due to a difference in the edge shape of the sluice gate and increased gate base. The simulation done by varying the height of the gate opening (a) and the discharge (Q). The results of the study obtained the length of water jumps (Lj) formed on the sluice gate with edge 450 is longer than the sluice gate with edge 900. The discharge coefficient (Cd) value on the sluice gate with edge 450 is higher than the discharge coefficient (Cd) value on the gate with edge 900. The energy loss trendline (ΔE) obtained shows the value of ΔE increases with increasing h2/h1. The value of the critical flow coefficient range (Ckr) on the sluice gate with edge 450 and 900 increases with the increase in base height. The results of this study also add to the long trendline of previous research that has been done by Klaas (2009).Keywords: Discharge Coefficient, Energy Loss, Hydraulic Jump, Sluice Gate

Abstract

Drought disaster is caused by the decreasing of rainfall from normal condition and the duration of dry season. And the effect is show the reducing of water availability. Based on the drought disaster risk index map by National Disaster Management Agency, can be seen that 40-60 % Riau Province got drought. Therefore, it is necessary to anticipate to reduce the impact of drought by calculate the drought index using Run Theory. Drought index can be used to indicate the longest and the greatest number of drought. The rain data who used for the calculation of the drought index is satellite rainfall data in the last 8 years from 2009 to 2016 for every district in Riau Province. The rainfall data is divided into 2 groups, 15 days for daily rainfall data and 30 days for monthly rainfall data. For 15 daily rainfall data, the longest drought duration is 7.5 months and the greatest number of drought is 494.943 mm. While for monthly rainfall data, the longest drought duration is 12 months and the greatest number of drought is 508.6 mm. based on calculation classification level of drought for dryness criteria 15 daily rainfall data from Indragiri Hilir as many as 5 times incident. For monthly rainfall data is Rokan Hilir, Pelalawan, and Kuantan Singingi as many as 3 times incident. Abstract

Canal blocking is closure or insulation of trenches, rivers, or canals permanent or non-permanent that serve to keep the water system and elevation water level stable. With the canal blocking it will affect the flow profile in the channel. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of debit coefficient on canal blocking and the influence of bolt and shear force on the stability of canal blocking so as to produce optimal design. The study was conducted in the laboratory by testing the physical model of the blocking canal door. Canal blocking model is made in such a way resembles canal blocking in the field with a scale of 1: 7. Test method is done by variation of the discharge, permeable or unpermeable flow properties, tube arrangement, material weight, and canal blocking of one unit or not a single unit. The results showed that blocking canals have good stability, high efficiency, and economical influenced by several factors, there are type of material, the arrangement and the weight of the material content, the strength of the coefficient of friction (locking / recognition of canal blocking), and the design of permeable or unpermeable.Keywords: canal blocking model, permeable, unpermeable
