Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of Problem Based Learning model to improve student learning outcomes on surface area and volume of thebeam material in VIIIA SMP Negeri 11 Palu class. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with reference to the research design Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, ie 1) planning, 2) implementation of action and observation, and 3) reflection. This study was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this research is the students of class VIII ASMP Negeri 11 Palu hammer registered in the academic year 2018/2019 which amounted to 23 students, 14 female students and 9 male students. Data collection techniques are observation, test, interview, and field notes. In cycle I the number of complete students ie 13 students with a percentage mastery of 56,52% and in cycle II many students who completed the 19 students with 82,6% complete percentage. The results of this study show that the application of Problem Based Learnig (PBL) model can improve student learning outcomes of VIII A SMP Negeri 11 Palu by following PBL phases: 1) student orientation on the material problem cubes and beam especially surface area and volume of the beam 2) organize students to learn by forming cooperative learning groups, 3) developing independent student and group research, 4) developing and presenting the work, and 5) analyzing and evaluating problem solving.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain a description of the analysis of the argumentation abilities of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 6 Palu on function. This type of research is descriptive research type. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were three students in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 6 Palu for the 2021/2022 academic year. Students at a high level of mathematical ability have good argumentation skills because they are able to state what information is in the problem and at each step of completion (Data), are able to provide statements to solve a problem (Claim), are able to show data as well as provide evidence that is able to support statement put forward (Warrant), and able to reject the statement and explain the conditions under which the statement is not valid (Disclaimer). Students at the moderate level of mathematical ability have fairly good argumentation skills because they are able to provide statements to solve a problem (Claim), are able to show data as well as provide evidence that is able to support the statements put forward (Warrant). Students at low ability levels have less argumentation skills because they have not provided enough information about what is in the problem and at each step of completion (Data), have not been able to provide statements to solve a problem (Claim), have not been able to provide evidence capable of supporting statements made stated (Warrant), and also has not been able to provide an explanation of the conditions under which the statement is not valid (Rebuttal).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes by using the Discovery Learning learning model assisted by learning videos on building material for grade VII students of Palu Catholic Junior High School. This research is Classroom Action Research using a quantitative & quality approach. The subjects of this study were class VIIIA students totaling 23 students consisting of 13 male students and 10 female students with diverse abilities. This research was carried out in two cycles. The application of the Discovery Learning learning model with the help of learning videos that can improve the learning outcomes of grade students of Palu Catholic Junior High School. This is shown from the completeness of individual students in the first cycle as many as 17 out of 23 students with a class average score of 79.34 and a classical percentage of 73.91%, who took the test increased to 20 out of 23 students with a class average score of 90.21 and the classical percentage is 86.95%, who took the test in cycle II, so that the success indicators set have been achieved and have reached the KKM standard that has been set at Palu Catholic Junior High School, which is 80.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of student errors in the results of the mathematics final exams for the 2022/2023 school year based on the Newman Procedure. This type of research is qualitative. The research subjects used in this study were 29 students of class IX B MTs Hi Hayyun Salumpaga. The results of this study are in the form of descriptions of student errors and the causes of errors made by class IX B MTs Hi Hayyun Salumpaga. Based on the research results, it has been found that the most dominant errors are process errors with a percentage of 77%, transformation errors with a percentage of 82%, errors in understanding the problem with a percentage of 75%, and errors in writing the final answer with a percentage of 72%. The mistakes made in (1) the error in understanding the problem is where students do not write down what is known and what is asked, (2) transformation errors that occur, namely students misunderstand the meaning or concept to be used, (3) the process error made was not being able to carry out the process correctly and not being thorough, (4) errors in writing the final answer, namely the student made a mistake in writing the final answer and got an incorrect answer.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information related to whether there are differences in students' mathematics learning outcomes between offline and online learning at SMP Negeri 1 Palu. The research method used in this study is the comparative method. The population in this study were all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Palu with a total of 352 students. The research sample was grade VII students who carried out offline and online learning, with different samples but had the same level of academic ability. The sampling technique in this study was Purposive Sampling. The researcher took 32 class A students and 32 class B students, so the number of samples taken was 64 people. The data collection technique in this study was by taking mid-semester test scores on the material Linear Equations and Inequalities of One Variable in the 2021/2022 Academic Year obtained by students during online learning and mid-semester test scores on Linear Equations and Inequalities of One Variable in the 2022/2023 Academic Year obtained by students during offline learning. On condition that the material taught is equivalent during offline and online learning and students have the same level of academic ability. The collected data is then processed using t-test statistical analysis. Based on the data analysis obtained: (1). The results of learning mathematics during online learning obtained an average value of 71.94; (2). The results of learning mathematics during offline learning obtained an average value of 58.56; (3). Sig. value. (2-tailed) 0.00 <0.05. This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So the results of the study show that there is a difference in the results of learning mathematics of students taught with offline learning and online learning.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain a description of the use of mathematics in the activities of carpenters and masons in the process of building a house. The subjects of this research were two builders who were carrying out construction in the village of Tokala Atas. The two craftsmen chosen as research subjects consisted of a masons and a carpenter. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive type of research carried out in the village of Tokala Atas. The data collection techniques used were observation and interviews. Observations were made while the builders were building the house. Interview techniques were used to explore the data that had been obtained when the observations were made. The results of the research show that carpenters and masons use mathematical concepts in building houses, namely the Pythagorean concept when forming foundation angles and measuring the sloping sides of roofs. The concept of alignment when measuring foundation bow plank strings, measuring brick laying benchmark strings and measuring frame heights. The concept of comparison is used when measuring into the foundation and when determining the distance between floor girders. The concept of flat construction is used when making sloping reinforcement frames, making piles and forming wooden joints. The concept of perpendicular lines is used when adjusting the straightness of poles, sills and roof posts. Arithmetic concepts are used when calculating zinc and teal requirements. The mathematical concepts contained in house buildings made by carpenters are roof shape: roof shape, rice wrapper and wall shape: betel stacking shape, plate stacking and lengthwise.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the guided discovery learning model with the Scaffolding technique in improving the students' abilities of class X MIA 4 MAN 1 Palu in the function material. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) and the design uses the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, with its stages namely planning, action and observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were 17 students of class X MIA 4 MAN 1 Palu who were registered in the 2019/2020 school year and three students were selected as informants. This research was conducted in two cycles. Based on the results of the final action test, the percentage of students 'classical learning completeness in the first cycle was 73.33% and the percentage of students' classical learning completeness in the second cycle was 93.75%, while the results of teacher and student observations in the first cycle were in the good category and at cycle II is in the very good category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that learning by applying the guided discovery learning model can improve the ability of class X MAN 1 Palu students on the function material by following the stages (1) stimulation: providing an explanation to students about the inverse function material contained in the LKPD. (2) problem formulation: directing students to find their own inverse function material by asking students to observe and identify the problems contained in the LKPD and make hypotheses. (3) data collection: students are asked to find references related to the inverse function material, then write down the information contained in the given problem carefully. (4) data processing: students process the data that has been collected by discussing the process used to find problems in the LKPD. (5) verification: students are asked to formulate conclusions and then match them with the formulation of the problem given whether the formulation of the conclusions made answers the given problem and whether the results obtained are in accordance with the hypotheses made have been proven or not. and (6) generalization: involving students in class discussions and concluding the material that has been studied.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the guided discovery learning model in improving the learning outcomes of class VII D students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu on triangle material.Based on the results of the final action test, the percentage of students 'classical learning completeness in cycle I was 64.28% and the percentage of students' classical learning completeness in cycle II was 92.59%, while the results of teacher and student observations in cycle I were in the good category and at cycle II is in the very good category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that learning by applying the guided discovery learning model can improve the learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu in triangular material by following the steps (1) stimulation: giving students an explanation of the triangular material contained in LKPD. (2) problem formulation: directing students to find their own triangle material by asking students to observe and identify the problems contained in the LKPD and make hypotheses. (3) data collection: students are asked to look for references related to triangular material, then write down the information contained in the given problem carefully. (4) data processing: after data collection, further data processing is required, students process the data that has been collected by discussing the process used to find problems in the LKPD. (5) verification: students are asked to formulate conclusions and then match them with the formulation of the problem given whether the formulation of the conclusions made answers the given problem and whether the results obtained are in accordance with the hypotheses made have been proven or not. and (6) generalization: involving students in class discussions and concluding the material that has been studied.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the application of the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) cooperative learning model which can improve learning outcomes on matrix count operations in class XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Parigi Utara. This research is a collaborative classroom action research which refers to the research design of Kemmis and MC. Taggart, namely (1) planning, (2) implementation of action, (3) observation and (4) reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Parigi Utara. This research was conducted by following the steps of the think pair share (TPS) cooperative learning model, namely 1) giving students' perceptions and motivation, 2) dividing students into small groups of students consisting of 2 people per group, 3) presenting information and ask questions, (4) think individually (think), (5) discuss with group friends (pairs), (6) share the results of discussions with group friends (share), (7) draw conclusions, (8) evaluate. The results showed that learning by applying the think-pair-share type of cooperative learning model could improve students 'mathematical understanding skills as indicated by the change in students' knowledge in cycle I for the better in cycle II. Changes in student knowledge can be seen from the results of the final test analysis of students' actions in the first cycle of 43.75% and an increase in the second cycle of 90.91%.

Abstract

This research aimed to obtain a description the implementation of cooperative learning model of two stay two stray (TSTS) which can improve student learning outcomes in solving questions of three variable linear equation system in the tenth grade SMK Negeri 5 Palu. This type of research is classroom action research that refers to the research design of Kemmis and Mc.Taggart, namely (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) observation and (4) reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles. This research was carried out by following the steps of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) type of cooperative learning model, namely (1) presenting information, (2) organizing students into study groups, (3) providing LKPD and guiding study groups, (4) two members of each group visit other groups, (5) group members who stay to share information with guests, (6) the two visiting members return to their respective groups and present the results of their visit, (7) one of the groups presents their answers, (8) guide students to conclude learning, (9) give awards. The results showed that the application of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) type of cooperative learning model can improve the learning outcomes of class X TSM A SMK Negeri 5 Palu on the material of three variable linear equation system which is indicated by changes that can be seen based on the final action test, classical learning completeness students experienced an increase from the first cycle of 55% and 75% in the second cycle. The results of the observation of teacher and student activities in cycle I were better in cycle II.
