Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of the integration of cooperative learning model type STAD with the talking stick toward motivation and cognitive learning outcomes of VIII grade student of SMPN 1 Janapria in the academic year 2016/2017. This research is a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study the whole class of VIII grade in SMPN 1 Janapria. The sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling. The instrument used to motivate using a questionnaire sheet, and learning outcomes using multiple-choice tests. Data were analyzed descriptively motivated by the results of the data motivation experimental class with an average score of 63.5 with a very high category and grade control with an average score of 58.5 with the high category. Cognitive learning outcomes were analyzed by t-test using SPSS for Windows 16 with the results of Ha 0.04 ≤ 0.05 at significance level of 5%. It was concluded that the integration of cooperative learning model type STAD with the talking stick significantly affect the cognitive learning outcomes of  VIII grade student of SMPN 1 Janapria in academic year 2016/2017. It was concluded that the motivation to learn at SMPN 1 Janapria the experimental class has an average of 63.5 in the category of very high motivation to learn, higher than the control class with an average of 58.5 in the high category.

Abstract

LKS which has been applied in schools has made students less developed scientific abilities. Worksheets that are used seem monotonous, use a colorless image, so it looks less attractive. Student worksheets are only given to be done by students, without having to guide students in solving problems contained in worksheets, and the worksheet does not contain what students have to do such as observing, analyzing, synthesizing, solving problems because there is no guidance to conduct experiments and scientific attitudes . So that makes students less able to think scientifically in learning, for that applied Experiment Based Biology Worksheet where Experiment Based Biology Worksheet can increase student activity. The purpose of this study is to apply biological worksheets to improve students' scientific abilities. This research includes Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of 2 cycles, each cycle has 4 stages including; planning, implementing, observing, evaluating, and reflecting. The instruments in this study were the learning implementation observation sheet (RPP) and the scientific ability test sheet. Research data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study showed that the results of the implementation of the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) in cycle 1 reached 75% in the good category and in cycle 2 it reached 90% in the very good category, while the students' scientific ability data in the first cycle reached 49.06 with the less scientific category , increased in second cycle reached 79.57 with the scientific category. The results of the study concluded that the application of experiment-based worksheet could improve students' scientific abilities.

Abstract

Water is an essential material in life and none of the creatures in this world who do not need and do not contain water. In line with the progress and improvement of  living standards, the City of Mataram have water supplies are slowly getting polluted. This study aims to: 1) To Know the value MPN Coliform, value MPN Coliform fecal and the number of colonies of Escherichia coli in the well water community in Mataram. This study is a survey research with a quantitative descriptive design. Results of this study are (1) Water wells containing Mataram City community MPN Coliform most value lower by 20 cells/100 ml, while the highest is at ≥24.000 cells/100ml; MPN Coliform fecal values were lowest at 14 cells/100 ml, while the highest is at ≥24.000 cells/100ml; while the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria positive in all samples of well water; (2) Water wells Mataram City community Based MPN Coliform indicator value is known by 75% is not suitable for consumption; indicators of MPN Coliform fecal is not worth as much as 70.8% of consumption; indicator bacteria Escherichia coli as much as 100% unfit for consumption.
