Abstract

Adherence to treatment is a big challenge for thalassemia patients. Iron chelation is one of treatment that must be carried out by thalassemia patients for preventing complications due to iron accumulation in the body's organs. Most of the deaths in thalassemia patients are caused by complications due to accumulation of iron from blood transfusions. Adherence to iron chelation treatment is a protective factor for thalassemia mortality. The objective of the study is to analyze the reIationship between knowledge and social support with adherence score to iron cheIation treatment in thaIassemia patients. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectionalI approach, the data obtained were 84 respondents. Primary data was collected by interview using a questionnaire. The statistical test used was Pearson correlation. The resuIts of bivariate anaIysis show that age knowledge about thalassemia (p=0,000;r=0,491-0,554), knowIedge about  iron cheIation (p=0,000;r=0,554), famiIy support (p=0,000;r=0,570), and health workers support (p=0,000; r=0,468). It can be concluded that knowledge about thaIassemia, knowIedge about iron cheIation, famiIy support, heaIth workers support, have a significant relationship with adherence score to taking iron chelation in thaIassemia patient. Keywords: adherence, iron chelation, thalassemia

Abstract

Based on Indonesian Health Ministry regulation No. 492/ MENKES/PER/ IV/2010, the MPN coliform dan E.coli of drinking water should be 0 of 100 mL sample. A previous research showed that 95% of samples did not require the microbiological contamination. The research aimed to analyze the correlation between microbiological quality of raw water and hygiene sanitation with microbiological contamination of refilled drinking water. The type of this research is analytic with cross sectional approach. The samples are 47 depots and 55 workers. The results showed that 85.1% of samples did not require the microbiological contamination. Using by Chi-square test analysis (α=5%)  indicates that the personal hygiene has p=0.035 (OR=10,000 and CI=1.095 to 91.309). It means personal hygiene have a correlations with microbiological contamination of refilled drinking water. While the microbiological quality of the raw water (p=0.188), the conditions of depots sanitary (p=0.999), the conditions of equipment sanitary (p=0.410) were not associated with the contamination of refilled drinking water. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the sanitary inspection and testing the sampels frequently. Also, socialization for depot’s workers is needed to increase the hygiene sanitation.

After being separated for calculating the level of accuracy is maintained until the pupa turns into adult mosquitoes seen contamination in cage. The results is 600 males pupae and 600 females pupae were identified. Based on the calculation of the accuracy of each colony male and female pupa is 99.83% with a 0.17% contamination. Concluded that the level of accuracy of separation based on body size pupa pupa is quite high at 99.83%. Advice given to the researcher that can be checked again to pupa which have been separated so that no contamination in the colony pupae

Abstract

According to WHO, filariasis is one of the tropical diseases that can be eliminated through mass drug administration (MDA). Pekalongan City has started MDA since 2011. Through an evaluation in 2016, it was known that microfilaria rate (Mf rate) remained 1%. The purpose of this study was to describe the mass drug administration compliance in filariasis endemic area of Pekalongan City. This study used a rapid survey method. A two-stages random sampling was used in this study. The first stage was selected 25 clusters randomly from 10 villages based on proportionate to population size (PPS) method using C-Survey application. The second stage was selected 10 subjects randomly from each cluster. The sample of this research was 250 people. The results showed that the compliance to MDA was 76%. The characteristics of respondents as age, sex, occupation, knowledge of filariasis POMP, perceived of severity, place of getting information and frequency of getting information significantly had no relation with compliance to MDA (p> 0,050). Recent education, knowledge of filariasis, perceived of susceptibility, perceived of benefits, perceived of barriers, internal cues to action, external cues to action, source  of MDA information and TPE support were significantly related to MDA compliance (p <0.050). Therefore, socialization that reach all levels of society was needed. Increasing the role of TPE in doing follow-up after giving the drug also needed to increase the compliance to MDA.
