Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze operational activities and determinants of Kejawanan Nusantara Fishing Port (NFP) performance. This research was conducted from October 2019 to March 2020 at the Kejawanan NFP. Data analysis was performed using two methods; the first is a descriptive method which is to analyze the operational activities of Kejawanan NFP and the assessment of Kejawanan NFP Performance based on guidelines issued by General Director of Capture Fisheries Number 20/KEP-DJPT/ 2015; the second is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) method, which is to define the determinants of Kejawanan NFP performance. The results of this study indicate that the operational activities of Kejawanan NFP continue to increase. Ship visits during 2019 increased by 438 times. The production value of landed fish in 2019 was Rp 147,301,194,670. Compared to 2018, production volume in 2019 decreased as many as 16.63% with the amount of 711.9 tonnes. On the other hand, production value from 2018 to 2019 also decreased by Rp 26,408,892,685. Performance assessment on 27 criterias based on guidelines issued by General Director of Capture Fisheries in 2015 showed that performance of Kejawanan NFP ranged between 70.25 and 86.5. During period of study from October 2019 to March 2020 the port showed well performances, with the best one was shown in November 2019. Based on SEM test results, internal variables have the most influence on Kejawanan NFP performance. Keywords: : Fishing Port, Kejawanan, Performance, Structural Equation Model (SEM)

Abstract

This study aims to describe the characteristics of mini bottom trawl fishing gear and fishing season, as well as to estimate the stock density and sustainable potential of banana prawn (Penaeus merguiensis), in Rembang Regency. This study was conducted from September to October 2020, in the Northern Waters of Rembang Regency, with an area of 1409.7 km², using both primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected directly from observations, measurements, and interviews with fishermen, while secondary data, including data on the number and types of fishing gear, as well as production and production values, was obtained through a literature review. The results of the study found that banana prawn in the northern waters of Rembang Regency was caught using two types of fishing gear, and these are sotok/mini bottom trawls and trammel nets. The total length of mini bottom trawl in this study are 15.77 m, 16.5 m, 20.44 m, and 25.2 m. The fishing season for banana prawn is from June to September The average stock density value is 16.22 kg/km² (range 4.37 to 41.14 kg/km²), the Cmsy value is 2.625 kg, the Emsy value is 4.172 trips and the average utilization rate is 44% (range 23 to 82%). Keywords: Rembang, banana prawn, stock density, and MSY.

Abstract

One of fisheries development goals is to increase production and quality of catches. As one of the functional facilities, Fish Auction Place (FAP) has a very vital role in perspective of economy aspect. Therefore, FAP must be optimized by optimally utilizing facilities and providing good services. The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing conditions in the FAP and develop a strategy for developing the FAP at the Cilacap Ocean Fisheries Port. This research was conducted in October 2020 to January 2021. The research used descriptive method. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data that was obtained from OFP Cilacap. SWOT analysis utilized to analyze the factors in determining the development strategy. The result showed that the condition of the Cilacap Ocean Fishery Port FAP is good but there are some facilities that are not well maintained such as the WWTP. The development strategy obtained at FAP of OFP Cilacap is to improve the quality of FAP management in terms of service, to develop human resources through improving skills with targeted training and management programs, to maintain export quality fish such as tuna, and to carry out maintenance and care. complete FAP facilities towards excellent service

Abstract

The fisheries management based on the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) can be implemented to optimize the potential of fisheries resources. The purpose of this research is to apply EAFM indicators for analyzing surface gillnet fishing gear in Bagan Siapi-api waters, especially fish resources, fishing methods, habitats, and ecosystems. The evaluation of fishery management status was carried out using multi-criteria analysis (MCA) through the development of the composite index of each EAFM indicator. The results showed that the surface gillnet fishing gear was dominant with 1,645 tons of fish caught in 2019 by fishermen in Bagan Siapi-Api Waters. The composition of the catches was sukain fish (Eleutheronema tetradactylum), flounder fish (Pleuronectiformes), and tornfish (Bovichthyidae). Based on the analysis of the EAFM indicators, the value of the domain of fish resources, habitats, and ecosystems, as well as fishing methods has a value between 2 and 2.5. This indicated that the status of ecosystem-based area management in the waters of Bagan Siapi-api is in the medium-good category. Keywords: Bagan Siapi-api, EAFM, Fisheries Sustainability, Gill Net
