Abstract

Background: Hypothermia is a post-anesthesia complication commonly found in the recovery room after general and regional anesthesia. Patients undergoing surgery are at risk of hypothermia. Hypothermia can be defined as a body temperature of less than 36oC. Objective: to identify the relationship between age and length of surgery with the incidence of post-anesthesia hypothermia at Hospital dr.R.Goeteng Taroenadibrata Methods: This research method uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 86 post-anesthesia respondents with a purposive sampling technique and chi-square test to analyze the data. Results: This study shows a relationship between age and the incidence of hypothermia with a chi-square value with a probability value of 0.001 <0.05. This study also shows a connection between the length of surgery and the incidence of hypothermia at 69% with an X2 value with a probability value of p = 0.001. Conclusion: We confirmed that age and duration of surgery significantly affect patients' thermoregulation after general anaesthesia and regional anaesthesia, resulting in various signs and symptoms.

Abstract

Basic Health Research (2017) stated that around 50% of men aged 50 years in Indonesia suffered from BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia). One of the treatments for BPH is TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate) using spinal anesthesia. A high degree of blockade (≥ T5) and elderly are the two main factors of complication causing changes in MAP (Mean Arterial Pressure) values after spinal anesthesia, which is about 15.3 to 33%. MAP monitoring is very important because MAP describes the status of cerebral perfusion. The research purpose was to determine the comparison of MAP in each age group of the elderly undergoing TURP at Bajarnegara Islamic Hospital. The researcher applied a comparative analytic method with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted in March 2023 with 31 respondents. The samples were taken by using convenience sampling technique. The independent sample t test results showed (p = 0,870). Therefore, there were no significant differences of MAP in each age group of the elderly undergoing TURP at Bajarnegara Islamic Hospital.

Abstract

Spinal anesthesia is a type of regional anesthesia performed by injecting local anesthetic drugs into the subarachnoid space which can cause hypotension with an incidence of 16% - 33%. Hypotension is a drop in systolic blood pressure below 90mmHg. Risk factors that can increase the incidence of hypotension in spinal anesthesia include age. In young adults, hypotension is usually less severe than the elderly with the same high spinal anesthesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the picture of hypotension events in the elderly who received spinal anesthesia techniques at the Central Surgical Installation of Cilacap Hospital. The design of this study is quantitative descriptive with sampling using convenience sampling techniques. The study was conducted in June 2023. The sample of this study was elderly >60 years old totaling 52 respondents. The results of this study showed the incidence of hypotension as many as 38 respondents (67.3%) and not hypotension 17 respondents (32.7%). This study shows that the elderly are one of the factors in the incidence of post-spinal anesthesia hypotension.

Abstract

Spinal anesthesia has been established as the most effective and safest procedure for Sectio Caesarea. One of the most common side effects of spinal anesthesia is operative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) or Nausea vomiting, which typically occurs within the first 24 hours after surgery. This study seeks to determine the description of Operative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) based on age, surgery duration, and fasting duration in patients undergoing Caesarean section at RSI Fatimah Cilacap under spinal anesthesia. This research method employs quantitative analytic observation with a cross-sectional design and convenience sampling. The results revealed that the majority of respondents were between the ages of 20 and 35 (90.6%), with an incidence of PONV of 58.6%; the duration of surgery was between one and two hours (90.6%), with an incidence of 51.7%; and fasting duration was less than six hours (50%) with an incidence of 87.7%. This study found that 53.1% of participants experienced Operative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV).
