Abstract

Every human is a problem solver. Humans always have to deal with different kinds of problems that needs to be resolved. We have our own way to solve our problem even if they face the same one. This is because humans have different cognitive style. How a person sees and solves his/her problems shows their cognitive style. The way we solve a problem is also can be an indicator of how creative a person is. Kirton’s Adaption-Innovation (KAI) Inventory was created to measure creativity style. This research was dedicated to adapt into Indonesian version of KAI Inventory. We used convenience sampling method and got 164 participants. We did measurement model for the conirmatory factor analysis. Then the psychometric tests have been done to ensure its reliability and validity. Based on the results of Inter-item Correlation, Correlation With Another Tests method, and Factor Analysis showed that Indonesian version of KAI Inventory was reliable but still needs some revision on its items to increase its validity.

Abstract

Currently, Indonesia is entering the era of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), a golden opportunity and a challenge to be able to identify the potential of the nation in order to become an important player in the ASEAN region and even the world. A solution to face this challenge is through the trustworthy and reliable psychological tests. Unfortunately in Indonesia, the realization becomes hard as the given attention and effort for the test development in the Indonesian context are little. The version of available tests are very far behind from the original version, in both content and standardization. In addition, the test questions have been leaked and relatively accessible to public. As the result, the scores obtained from these tests become questionable, mainly in terms of the validity. One of the efforts to renew the tests is through test adaptation. In order to ensure the validity of the test adaptation results, International Test Commission has issued guidance on the adaptation process of the test. The intention is for the adapted test to be as beneficial as its original version. The other effort is by making novel tests according to the context and needs on the practice area. Good cooperation between the different occupation should also be prioritized and strengthened in order to provide the availability of valid and reliable tests.

Abstract

Apart from the noise and spark of the city, loneliness is often still engulfing teenagers. Previous research found that relationships with peers and parents were predictors of loneliness experienced by adolescents. However, no study has specifically examined parental involvement, especially father involvement. This study also aims to reveal the participation of fathers in parenting with loneliness in adolescents. This research is a quantitative study using a measurement tool adaptation from the UCLA Loneliness Scale and Father Involvement Scale. The sample size of this study was 189 adolescents by convenience sampling technique. The results showed that most teenagers felt lonely but were not related to father involvement in their lives. Discussion of the study tried to elaborate on the factors of location for data collection, developmental stages, and habits of adolescents. The results of the additional analysis showed that female adolescents tended to experience loneliness compared to male adolescents. Suggestions for research are given to get a more comprehensive picture of the phenomenon of loneliness in adolescents. Also, practical advice is also given to reduce loneliness in young women.

Abstract

The formation of faith in adolescents and young people is rooted in their interaction with parents, both father, and mother, as well as friends. Adolescence and young adulthood are periods of seeking faith in various aspects of life. However, there has not been a measurement of the extent to which adolescents and young people regard parents and friends as role models of their faith. This study was aimed to the Perceived Faith Support - Parents and Friends Scale to be the Scale of Faith Support. The study was conducted through convenience sampling, involving 1,390 participants from three major islands in Indonesia. The results of this adaptation proved to be reliable with internal consistency methods, especially Cronbach's Alpha and to be valid with factor analysis methods. Validation with age criteria is proven by the support of faith from the father and mother, but not with friends. The Faith Support Scale is argued to be fit for both theoretical and practical purposes. The development and application of this scale are further discussed.

Abstract

Self-compassion is a healthy attitude toward oneself which positively associated to an individual’s mental health. Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) is a common instrument to measure levels of self-compassion However, to date, there is no study that evaluates the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of SCS. This study aims to adapt the SCS into Indonesian language and to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of SCS. Participants in this study were 329 college students enrolled in universities in Jakarta and surrounding areas and were recruited through convenience sampling. Instrument used in this research is the Indonesian version of SCS, which we named Skala Welas Diri (SWD). The result of psychometric evaluation using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), construct validity, and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient showed good validity and reliability of SWD. The study suggested that SWD have a similar theoretical model as SCS. The study concludes that SWD could be used as an adequate measurement of self-compassion.
