Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on society in the fields of policy, religion, social, culture, economy, technology and education. This activity aimed to increase the knowledge, attitude and behavior of the community regarding the COVID-19 pandemic through education information technology-based online system. This study was a quasi-experiment with one group pre-test and post-test design. The activity was carried out four months on three groups, namely children, adolescents, and adults. The planned program was about the dangers of Covid-19, increasing reading literacy and knowledge through posters, memes, and videos about Covid-19, overcoming and preventing Covid-19, providing entrepreneurial skills during the Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation method followed a number of steps: identifying potential and analyzing problems in the community, namely by conducting FGDs with related parties, program design, library research to reference material used during service, making program materials and implementing them through online and offline media by visiting the community. The findings showed that that there was an increase in the level of community knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding the COVID-19 pandemics. This study found that the community should be approached in different ways based on their developmental stage relating to their ability to receive information.

Abstract

Waste management remains a critical issue related to environmental health. Insufficient knowledge in waste management contributes to environmental degradation, including soil, water, and air pollution, and serves as a potential source of diseases. This community service initiative aimed to implement the "Benderang Sentosa" Waste Management Program to enhance community knowledge of waste management practices. The program involved health education and training sessions conducted three times over three weeks. A total of 60 school-age children and 50 health cadres participated. Community knowledge was assessed using a pre-developed questionnaire. Descriptive data were analyzed to compare pre- and post-intervention results. The main result shows that the knowledge level of health cadres about waste management increased by 76%. Similarly, 75% of school-age children demonstrated a significant improvement in their understanding of waste management. The "Benderang Sentosa" Waste Management Program effectively increased community knowledge, contributing to better waste management practices and supporting the goal of a healthier environment.

Abstract

Natural disasters produce both immediate and prolonged psychological consequences, including stress, anxiety, and depression. These effects require comprehensive interventions combining stress management strategies with the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT). This study aimed to enhance mental health cadres' capacity to support disaster resilience programs in agricultural communities, focusing on Indonesia's disaster-prone Lumajang District. The research implemented a two-phase intervention: First, 30 health cadres received training using a quantitative pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test evaluations. Second, these trained cadres conducted home visits for 80 community members, with outcomes measured using the PTSD Checklist (PCL-5). Results demonstrated significant improvements across both cadres and community members. Cadres' stress management knowledge increased substantially from an average pre-test score of 50% (poor category) to 76.6% (good category) post-intervention. Most importantly, SEFT implementation reduced PTSD symptoms among community members from 41.25% to 11.25%. The study also revealed high participant engagement, with all 30 cadres completing training and demonstrating strong knowledge retention. These findings confirm that targeted training in SEFT and stress management can effectively enhance mental health cadres' professional capabilities. By strengthening frontline responders' skills, communities gain greater capacity to address post-disaster psychosocial challenges and build long-term resilience. The research highlights the value of integrating evidence-based psychological interventions with community health worker programs, particularly in vulnerable agricultural regions facing recurrent disasters. This cadre-centered approach offers a sustainable model for improving mental health outcomes in disaster-affected populations while supporting broader disaster preparedness initiatives. Where it will also support the achievement of SDG 3.
