Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical connection ability in solving story problems in terms of self-concept. This research is a qualitative descriptive method. The form of this research is a case study. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Marau. The subjects of this research are students of class VIII C who have studied statistics material. The subjects to be interviewed consisted of 6 students based on high, medium, and low self-concept categories. The subjects of this study were determined using purposive sampling technique. The purposive sampling technique is sampling using certain considerations in accordance with the desired criteria. The instruments used in this research are questionnaires, written tests and interview guidelines. The results showed that students with high category self-concept were able to fulfill all indicators of mathematical connection ability, namely understanding relationships between topics, finding equivalent representations of the same concepts and procedures, and using mathematics in other fields of study or everyday life. This is because students with high self-concept are always optimistic and do not give up easily in solving the problems they face. Students with moderate self-concept category are able to fulfill 2 indicators from 3 indicators of mathematical connection ability, namely finding equivalent representations of the same concepts and procedures, and using mathematics in other fields of study or everyday life. While students with low self-concept are able to fulfill 1 indicator from 3 indicators of mathematical connection ability, namely using mathematics in other fields of study or everyday life. This is because students with low self-concept also tend to hesitate and give up easily in dealing with the problems they face.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of differentiated learning implementation on mathematical communication skills of high school students, especially in terms of their level of learning independence. The research method used was quasi-experiment with pre-test-post-test design. The research sample was high school students. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in the mathematical communication skills of students in the experimental group. In addition, a positive correlation was found between students' learning independence and the improvement of their mathematical communication skills. The implication of this study is that differentiated learning can be an effective alternative to improve students' mathematical communication skills, especially for students with a high level of learning independence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between students' mathematical self-efficacy and mathematical creative thinking ability on circle material at junior high school level. This research is a qualitative research and the method used in this research is descriptive method. The form of research used in this research is a case study. The setting of this research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap. The subjects of this research were students of class VIII C SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap who had studied circle material. The interviewed subjects consisted of 9 students based on high, medium, and low self-efficacy categories. The instruments used were self-efficacy questionnaire, mathematical creative thinking ability test, and interview. The data were analyzed qualitatively with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. From the results of this study, it is concluded that students with high self-efficacy category have been able to solve the circle story problems appropriately and in accordance with the indicators of mathematical creative thinking ability. Students with moderate self-efficacy category are able to solve the circle story problems less precisely and correctly so that they have not been able to fulfill the three indicators of mathematical creative thinking ability. Students with low self-efficacy category are only able to provide one correct and appropriate answer in solving the Circle story problem, while other indicators of mathematical creative thinking ability cannot be completed correctly.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a teaching module based on differentiated learning in statistics material to enhance problem-solving skills that can achieve levels of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) study using the ADDIE development model. The instruments used to collect data are the validation sheet for learning devices, the validation sheet for LKPD, the teacher response questionnaire, the student response questionnaire, and the post-test. Based on the first research results, the calculation of the validation sheet for the learning device (teaching module) is 82.42% and the LKPD is 85.19%, each with very valid criteria. The average calculation of the validation sheet results is 83.81%, which indicates a very valid criterion. The second practicality score, based on the teacher response questionnaire and the student response questionnaire, with an average value of 85.51%, falls into the very practical category. As for the third aspect, the effectiveness of the differentiated learning-based teaching module in statistics on the problem-solving abilities of junior high school students reached 67.24%, which falls into the effective category, based on the posttest assessment results.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a difference in the auditory intellectually repetition learning model on mathematical problem solving abilities in terms of gender differences in the material of arithmetic sequences and series in high school students. This study is a quantitative study of the Quasy Experimental type. Data were obtained from a mathematical problem solving ability test given to students. The data analysis technique used a two-way ANOVA test and further testing using a multiple comparison test with the Sheffe method. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of the research data, the results showed that the Auditory Intellectually Repetition learning model has better mathematical problem solving abilities than the direct learning model. Female students have better mathematical problem solving abilities than male students. in the category of the Auditory Intellectually Repetition model and the direct learning model, female students have better mathematical problem solving abilities than male students. In the category of female and male students, the Auditory Intellectually Repetition model has better mathematical problem solving abilities than the direct learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to produce H5P-based instructional media incorporating heuristic strategies that achieve validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities on algebraic expressions in Grade VII at SMPN 10 Sungai Kakap. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The research subjects consisted of 23 seventh-grade students. The instruments used in this study included expert validation sheets, teacher response questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and a post-test. The results showed that the validity level of the instructional media, based on expert assessments, obtained an average percentage of 86.67%, categorized as very valid. The practicality level, based on teacher and student response questionnaires, obtained an average percentage of 91.25%, categorized as very practical. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the media based on students’ post-test results showed a classical completeness rate of 85.71%, categorized as effective. Thus, the H5P-based instructional media with heuristic strategies is declared feasible and effective for use in the mathematics learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to develop learning media in the form of interactive educational games assisted by Kahoot integrated with the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model to improve mathematical problem-solving skills in the circle material of class VIII students of MTs Mujahidin Pontianak. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model consisting of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects in this study were 14 class VIII students. The instruments used included expert validation sheets to assess product validity, teacher and student response questionnaires to measure practicality, and learning outcome tests (posttests) to assess media effectiveness. The results showed that the media developed had a very high level of validity, with an average percentage of 95.23%. The practicality of the media based on the results of the teacher and student response questionnaires reached an average of 82.85%, which was categorized as very practical. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the media based on the results of the student posttest showed classical learning completion of 86, so it was included in the effective category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the interactive educational game media assisted by Kahoot based on the Team Games Tournament model is worthy of being used as an alternative learning media that is valid, practical, and effective to improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, especially in circle material.
