Abstract

Telah dilakukan pembuatan dan karakterisasi komposit polimer UHMWPE dengan filler Na2B4O7.5H2O sebagai bahan perisai radiasi neutron termal.  Pembuatan bahan dilakukan dengan menggabungkan UHMWPE dan Na2B4O7.5H2O menggunakan metode blending untuk menghasilkan komposit yang homogen, dan proses kompaksi untuk meminimalkan jarak antar partikel penyusun bahan.  Persentase penambahan Na2B4O7.5H2O yang digunakan bervariasi dari 0% hingga 52%. Bahan dasar dan filler di-blending pada suhu 165°C selama 15 menit, selanjutnya dikompaksi dengan pembebanan 10 ton.  Hasil analisis EDS menunjukkan persentase massa filler di permukaan bahan meningkat dengan penambahan Na2B4O7.5H2O hingga konsentrasi 40% dan menurun di 52%.  Hasil karakterisasi SEM menunjukkan persentase filler optimum pada 40%.  Dengan demikian metode blending dan kompaksi sesuai digunakan untuk mencampurkan UHMWPE dan Na2B4O7.5H2O menjadi bahan perisai neutron termal dengan perbandingan komposisi (60:40)%. Kata kunci :  Perisai radiasi, neutron termal, UHMWPE, Na2B4O7.5H2O, filler, blending, kompaksi

Abstract

Radiasi merupakan pancaran energi melalui suatu materi atau ruang dalam bentuk energi, panas, partikel atau gelombang yang dapat diserap oleh bahan lain. Beberapa radiasi dapat mengionisasi bahan yang dilaluinya salah satunya radiasi neutron karena memiliki daya tembus yang tinggi sehingga sangat diperlukan perisai radiasi. Adapun kriteria dari perisai radiasi neutron harus memiliki kandungan hidrogen yang tinggi, memiliki nilai tampang lintang yang baik dan tidak bersifat korosi. Bahan UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethyene) memiliki kandungan hidrogen yang tinggi dan tidak mudah korosi dan bahan Gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) sangat baik menyerap neutron karena mempunyai tampang lintang serapan neutron yang tinggi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka dibuat komposit UHMWPE-Gd2O3 dengan tujuan dapat meningkatkan nilai serapan neutron sehingga dalam aplikasinya bisa lebih efektif untuk memperlambat bahkan menahan radiasi neutron. Telah dilakukan karakterisasi bahan perisai radiasi neutron yang dibuat sendiri dengan teknik radiografi neutron. Bahan perisai radiasi dibuat dengan bahan utama UHMWPE dan penambahan filler Gadolinium Oxide (Gd2O3) dengan kompoisisi 70% : 30% massa menggunakan metode blending dan kompaksi. Bahan dibuat dengan ketebalan yang bervariasi dari 0,5 cm hingga 2 cm. Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan tidak terbentuk senyawa kimia antara kedua bahan dan karakterisasi menggunakan SEM terlihat hasil distribusi unsur yang terkandung dalam filler Gd2O3 merata pada bahan dasar polimer. Pengujian serapan neutron menggunakan teknik radiografi neutron dengan metode film. Dengan penambahan variasi ketebalan meningkatkan daya serap bahan dari 58,78% menjadi 67,89% dan nilai koefisien atenuasi diperoleh sebesar 1,025.Kata kunci: perisai radiasi, UHMWPE,Gd2O3, radiografi neutron, daya serap dan koefisien  atenuasi.

Abstract

A study of the core criticality during the draining process of liquid fuel salt on Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR) was done. Two accident scenario that causes the draining process were loss of freeze valve coolant and loss of secondary coolant. This study used basic design of the MSFR with the salt fuel compositions of LiF (77.5%) – ThF4 (19.985%) – 233UF4 (2.515%). The criticality calculation has been analyzed from the value of the effective multiplication factor obtained from Open MC (Monte Carlo base) calculation. The effective multiplication factor was calculated with a variation on the number of freeze valves open; 1, 8, and 16 valves. The calculation has resulted in the value of effective multiplication factor decreasing exponentially during the draining process. Results from this study could be used as basic for the future study of the accident condition in MSFR, since there are still many MSRs accident scenarios that still haven't been taken into account.

Abstract

Dosimetry verification of anisotropic analytical (AAA) algorithms based on variations of the multileaf collimator has been investigated using the Eclipse Treatment Planning System. This study used a 0.6cc ionization chamber farmer detector and Linac Clinical CX variant equipped with TPS Eclipse with AAA. This study used 6 MV energy and 2 Gy dose. The multileaf collimator was varied into six groups with the size (A, B, C, D, E, F) of the irradiation field used 20 cm x 20 cm. The measurement results were a dose deviation value or a dose ratio presentation in each irradiation area. The dose deviation of the multileaf collimator variation was A 0.86% for each group. Group B had 6.8%, Group C had -0.43%, Group D had 0.73%, Group E had 1.11%, and Group F had 0.84%. The mean dose deviation value for all multileaf collimator forms was 1.67%, where this value is within the tolerance value recommended by ICRU, namely 3-5%. The p-value in the Analysis of variance (ANOVA) for the entire group was 0.00. This data shows that there is no effect of variation in the multileaf collimator on the dose given.

Abstract

A research study was conducted to estimate and visualize 2D vectors of blood flow in the heart using image processing algorithms to determine Doppler velocity at each point. The study used secondary data from ten patients who provided informed consent, encompassing healthy and unhealthy hearts. ECD image data were collected using a Philips epiq 7C machine in DICOM format. The image processing tasks, including area segmentation, flow velocity analysis, and area smoothing, were carried out using MATLAB R2016b software. These processes aimed to eliminate noise and other disturbances, enhancing the accuracy of blood flow velocity estimation in the heart. The study's findings included estimations and 2D vector visualizations representing the average blood flow velocity at each point within the heart. These achievements were made possible using image processing techniques to correct the acquired images, ensuring precise measurement of blood flow speed. Among the collected data, one patient exhibited indications of a healthy heart, with an average blood flow velocity of 40.2513 cm/s, a maximum speed of 68.5807 cm/s, and a minimum speed of 33.6971 cm/s. Deviations from the normal range of blood flow speeds were considered as potential abnormalities in heart health.
