Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of grade XI F4 students in Sociology at Adabiah 2 High School, Padang. The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes using the Teaching at the Right Level (TARL) learning approach. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) formulated by Ari Kunto, which consists of four components: (1) Planning, (2) Action, (3) Observation, (4) Reflection, using a mixed methods approach. The research data consisted of information about the results of the actions obtained from observations of teacher activities and student learning outcome tests. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results of the first cycle of research showed that the average student learning outcome score remained around 70.6, with only 39.5% completing tasks and 59.9% not completing tasks. In the second cycle, student learning outcomes increased to an average of 84.8, with 83.5% completing tasks and a decrease of 16.6% not completing tasks. This indicates an improvement in learning outcomes, as seen in the second cycle, with an increase in average student scores. This demonstrates that learning outcomes improve with the use of the TaRL approach in sociology.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of student discipline at Adabiah 2 High School in Padang, characterized by lateness to school, incomplete attributes, truancy, and unexcused absences (alpha). This indiscipline negatively impacts student academic achievement, the learning process, and the classroom atmosphere. The purpose of this study is to analyze the behavior of eleventh-grade students, particularly in grades XI Phase 4 and XI Phase 9, in relation to forms of school discipline violations. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and document studies. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of homeroom teachers, guidance counselors, and students. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that student tardiness was generally influenced by internal factors such as the habit of playing with gadgets until late at night and lack of parental control. Incomplete attributes were caused by low awareness of school rules, while truancy and alpha behavior were related to low learning motivation and the influence of the social environment. The impact of this behavior not only decreases learning outcomes but also disrupts the effectiveness of learning and the classroom atmosphere. This research emphasizes the important role of teachers, parents, and schools in instilling discipline and creating a conducive learning environment. Abstract

This research was motivated by the low student learning outcomes in Sociology at Adabiah 2 High School, particularly in grade XII F8, despite teachers using the Kahoot educational game. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the Kahoot educational game in Sociology lessons for grade XII. The theory used was Jean Piaget's cognitive theory, which explains mental processes such as thinking, understanding, and remembering in learning. This study employed a qualitative, descriptive approach. The informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, consisting of one Sociology teacher and six grade XII F8 students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of Kahoot in Sociology lessons took place through three main stages. In the planning stage, teachers prepared teaching modules, questions, and supporting materials. During the implementation stage, students demonstrated enthusiasm, actively competed, and were motivated to answer questions quickly and accurately, despite internet network constraints. During the evaluation phase, teachers can directly view student learning outcomes through scores and rankings, which can stimulate student motivation and engagement. Thus, the use of Kahoot has proven effective in creating a fun learning environment, increasing motivation, and helping students better understand the subject matter.
