Abstract

Fever is a condition in which the body temperature is more than 37 °C, fever can also be an early clinical manifestation of a particular infection. A person is said to have a fever when the body temperature is above normal. Soursop plant (Annona muricata L.) is one of the plants that have antipyretic effects because it contains secondary metabolite compounds, namely flavonoids that can reduce fever. The objective of the research was to simulate the Formulation and Antipyretic Activity Test of Hydrogel Plasters of Soursop Leaf Ethanol Extract (Annona muricata L.) Soursop leaf ethanol extract is made by the maceration method, formulated as a hydrogel plaster with different concentrations of 5 g, 7.5 g, and 10 g. and then testing is carried out which includes organoleptic tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, homogeneity tests, and temperature reduction tests on mice. The test data obtained was then analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for The Social Sciences) and the Anova test was then continued using the Tukey test. The results showed that the three hydrogel preparations had the same organoleptic results, namely semi-solid shape, distinctive smell and dark green brownish. The pH of the hydrogel includes 5 - 6.2, viscosity 89510 - 106530 cP and homogeneous preparations. The results of the test of the decline in body temperature of mice test animals showed that the most effective formula was hydrogel plaster with a composition of 10 g of extract in 30 g of preparations can lower the body temperature of mice in the fastest time, which is 60 minutes.

Abstract

Fever can be defined as a state of body temperature above normal more than 37.5 oC. Fever is characterized as a symptom of infectious and non-infectious diseases. One way to reduce fever with traditional medicine is the Moringa plant. Moringa plant (Moringa oleifera Lam.) which contains flavonoid compounds is known to be efficacious as a fever reducer. This study aims to determine the formulation of the ethanolic extract of Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera Lam.) in hydrogel plaster as a fever reducer. This research method includes simplicia characterization, phytochemical screening, and extraction by maceration. The extract was made in three hydrogel formulations as a fever-reducing plaster with a composition of every 30 g of preparation containing 5 g (FI), 7.5 g (FII), and 10 g (FIII) leaf extract. The tests carried out included organoleptic tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, homogeneity tests and temperature reduction tests on test animals. From the research results, the data were analyzed using SPSS with ANOVA test followed by Tukey's test. The results of the three Moringa leaf extract hydrogel formulas, namely FI, FII and FIII have the same characterization, namely semi-solid form, distinctive odor and brown color, hydrogel pH 5.0-6.5, viscosity 35380-93920 cP and homogeneous. The results of the decrease in body temperature of mice showed that FIII was the most effective in reducing the body temperature of mice with a time of 60 minutes.

Abstract

Jahe merah sebagai bahan baku obat tradisional diketahui mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan yang kuat berkhasiat menghangatkan badan, mengatasi radang tenggorokan dan meningkatkan stamina tubuh. Gula aren diketahui mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan dan tidak menaikkan gula darah secara drastis. Peneliti ingin mencoba memformulasikan jahe merah dengan gula aren sebagai minuman serbuk instan sebagai minuman kesehatan yang berkhasiat antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memformulasi dan untuk memeriksa apakah sediaan serbuk minuman jahe merah memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan  untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan aktivitas antioksidan dari variasi formula. Serta memeriksa mutu sediaan meliputi parameter organoleptis, kadar air dan uji kesukaan yang dibandingkan dengan standar mutu serbuk minuman tradisional SNI 01-4320-1996. Variasi 4 formula dibedakan oleh konsentrasi gula pasir dan aren sebagai bahan pengisi dan bahan pemanis pada sediaan yaitu F1 dengan konsentrasi gula pasir 100% b/b, F2 gula pasir dan gula aren (75%:25%), F3 gula pasir (50%:50%), dan F4 gula pasir dan gula aren (25%:75%). Selanjutnya, dilakukan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH dengan menghitung nilai IC50 dari masing-masing formula sediaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sediaan serbuk minuman jahe merah instan mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat lemah yaitu secara berturut-turut dengan IC50 tertinggi pada F1 sebesar 6.190,7071 ppm, kemudian F2 sebesar 3.399,6433 ppm, dan F3 sebesar 3.172,1301 ppm dan nilai IC50 terendah pada F4 sebesar 3.067,2530 ppm. Analisis kadar air sediaan memenuhi syarat parameter serbuk minuman tradisional yaitu ? 3%. Hasil uji kesukaan (hedonic test) menunjukkan bahwa F4 paling disukai oleh panelis dengan range skor tertinggi 4,4 - 4,8. Maka disimpulkan minuman jahe merah instan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat lemah. Terdapat perbedaan aktivitas antioksidan dari variasi formula yang dipengaruhi oleh konsentrasi gula aren. Hasil evaluasi organoleptis dan kadar air sediaan memenuhi syarat parameter serbuk minuman tradisional yang ditetapkan SNI 01-4320-1996.
