Abstract

Thalassemia major is a hematological single gene disorder that is inherited and can cause anemia in affected children, the impact of which in the world is a major public concern in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the countries in the thalassemia belt. In Indonesia, thalassemia major is more common and a serious health problem; about 3 – 10% of people carry the thalassemia gene due to abnormal hemoglobin production. More frequent visits to the hospital have a negative impact on children's lives in terms of physical burden, psychological burden and scholastic performance. The method used in this study is Literature review, method journal search using PICOT description and journal selection using Prism Diagram. Results of literature study in this study, the outcome as measured by PedsQL was quality of life. Questions were categorized into 4 domains: physical health, emotional health, family function and support and school and career functioning. In this study, we found that the HRQoL scores of TDT patients were higher in all dimensions compared to scores of similar studies. According to the results of several studies conducted, using the PedQL 4.0 instrument in pediatric and adolescent patients, either by distributing the instrument or by good interview technique. to patients and parents resulted in patients having a higher HRQoL in the psychosocial domain and the lowest in the education domain. This low value can be related to frequent visits to the hospital for blood transfusions or iron chelation therapy treatment so that children cannot go to school because of their perceived weakness and do not have sufficient energy to participate in school activities. So that children who do not go to school experience cognitive decline which has a negative impact on their quality of life.

Abstract

Learning motivations is a sense of enthusiasm felt by students with the characteristics of feeling and taking action to achieve a goal. The role of parents at home greatly influences the student’s learning process during distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parental support and student learning motivation during the Covid-19 pandemic in junior high schools. This type of research is quantitative with a correlative research design using design cross sectional, using a proportional random sampling technique to 100 respondents. The results of the study were respondents who had high parental support with a high level of learning motivation (65.2%), and with low learning motivation (34.8%). Meanwhile, respondents who have low parental support with a high level of motivation to learn (22,2%), and with low motivation (77,8%) with a value of p = 0.000 (p< 0,05). The results showed a positive relationship between parental support and student motivation in junior high schools. Suggestions for parents are expected to spend their time and pay more attention to children's learning, so that children will have enthusiasm for learning.

Abstract

Installation of intravenous access in pediatric patients is a challenge. The DIVA scale is one of the predictive tools for determining difficult intravenous access. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze research articles on the application of the DIVA scale to determine difficult intravenous access in the installation of intravascular access in pediatric patients. This literature search was carried out on electronic databases such as Pubmed, Proquest and Google Scholar. Articles were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inclusion criteria are articles published in 2016 – 2021, articles can be accessed in full text with the subject of the DIVA scale in pediatrics. Based on a literature review of 3 articles, it was found that the DIVA scale can be used to detect difficult veins in the installation of intravenous access in pediatric patients. Implementing the DIVA scale is beneficial in reducing the amount of effort required for the installation of intravenous access. The conclusion from this literature study is that the DIVA scale can be modified and validated according to where the DIVA scale is used. DIVA score 4 increases failure of intravenous access in the first trial in pediatric patients.

Abstract

Chronic renal failure is a progressive and irreversible renal function disorder in which the body's ability fails to maintain metabolism and fluid and electrolyte balance, causing uremia (retention of urea and other nitrogenous wastes in the blood). In Indonesia, the increase in patients with this disease has reached 20%. The data and information center of the Indonesian Hospital Association (PDPERSI) states that the number of patients with chronic kidney failure is estimated at around 50 people per one million population. Hemodialysis is very important for patients with chronic kidney failure because hemodialysis is one of the measures that can prevent death. However, hemodialysis cannot cure or restore kidney disease because it is unable to compensate for the loss of metabolic activity of kidney or endocrine diseases carried out by the kidneys and the impact of kidney failure and therapy on the patient's quality of life. Objective to determine the quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Using a literature review study method from scientific journals with keyword guidance. Scientific journals that were selected were 6 journals, each journal representing one quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. The quality of life of patients with chronic kidney failure are mostly in the good or high category with many factors affecting the quality of life of patients with chronic failure who are undergoing hemodialysis. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, it shows that the quality of life of patients with chronic failure at the good or high category level the biggest influencing factors are family support and self-efficacy.
