Abstract

Social criticism is a means of communication in conveying an idea to create a social change. The research with the title Social Criticism in the Text "Life is Jerk and I'm Forced to Enjoy It" is motivated by the researcher's curiosity about social criticism contained in the text. The purpose of this research is to understand the meaning of signifier and signified, connotation, denotation and myth of social criticism contained in the text. This research uses the semiotic analysis method of Roland Barthes. And using the theory of social criticism which is divided into several aspects, namely: politics, economics, law, culture and defense and security. The results of data analysis from this study are, forms of criticism of various social problems and our attitude in responding to social problems that occur. The myth in the text "Life is a jerk and I am forced to enjoy it" is that apathy towards social problems that occur will only perpetuate these problems.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of exposure to the TikTok account @vmuliana on knowledge about the career world for followers. The theory used is the theory of S.O.R (Stimulus, Organism, Response). This theory is related to the message that is conveyed and the response that is raised. The type of research used is quantitative research with descriptive analysis method. By using a questionnaire in data collection. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique. The population for this study are followers of the TikTok account @vmuliana and the sample taken is 100 respondents. Based on the research that has been done, the researchers conclude that there is a significant influence between TikTok @vmuliana content on career knowledge for followers. Associated with the influence of knowledge about the career world with a trend of influence of 73.1% and has a strong correlation of 0.855 and the coefficient of determination of 0.731.

Abstract

Facebook social media has become an important part of people's lives, including for mothers in Indonesia. During this pandemic, a lot of misinformation about Covid-19 is growing through social media Facebook. Facebook is the place where the most hoax news cases are found, especially regarding Covid-19. As the number of misinformation increases, it becomes increasingly problematic to distinguish fake news from accurate news. The quality of information and the lack of knowledge about the Covid-19 virus received is one of the main factors for housewives to determine their attitude to respond to hoax news. Therefore, it is necessary to examine how housewives respond to hoax news about Covid-19 on social media Facebook. Researchers used data collected from all interview documentation that had been conducted on housewives in Dukuh Pakis District who were actively using Facebook social media during the Covid-19 pandemic. The findings in this study are the existence of cognitive, conative, and affective behavior in housewives in Dukuh Pakis Subdistrict resulting from the effect of mass communication on Facebook social media on hoax news related to Covid-19. Therefore, it can be concluded that social media is able to have an effect in responding to hoax news on Facebook social media.
