Abstract

Menopause is a natural physical transition for every woman as she gets older and is often interpreted as the last menstrual stop in a woman's life, which is a slow process and occurs gradually. Women begin to experience menopausal symptoms in their 40s, the peak occurs at the age of 50 when during menopause women no longer experience menstruation. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge of women when facing menopause. Menopause is the physiological cessation of the menstrual cycle which is related to the elderly level of women. A woman experiencing natural menopause has absolutely no way of knowing whether a particular menstrual period is really her last until a year has passed. Menopause is sometimes referred to as the change of life. This research is descriptive in nature which describes the knowledge of pre-elderly women on menopause in the village of Pantan Lues Kec. White Elephant Kab. Bener Meriah 2017. The sampling technique in this study was based on total sampling with a total of 49 respondents. The results of the study. Knowledge of pre-elderly women about menopause, the majority of elderly people have sufficient knowledge, namely 44 respondents (89%), and a minority with less knowledge, namely as many as 3 respondents (4%) in Pantan Lues Village, Kec. White Elephant Kab. Bener Meriah Year 2017. It is suggested to educational institutions to further improve learning about menopause material so that it can be applied in society later and it is hoped that future researchers can become useful information for future researchers so that they can develop research on knowledge of pre-elderly women on menopause.

Abstract

Elderly is a condition where every human being who has a long life will definitely pass through the elderly phase which occurs naturally. A person is said to be elderly if he is more than 60 years old and starts after retirement, because as he ages he experiences biological, physical, psychological and social changes. As age increases, all organ functions have reached their maximum peak, so what is happening now is a decline in organ function. Many elderly people in Indonesia experience nutritional deficiencies, with 31% experiencing undernutrition (BMI 16.5-18.49%) and 1.8% overnutrition. Malnutrition is often caused by social and economic problems and also due to disease, if calorie consumption is too low than required then body weight is less than normal. This research is a quantitative descriptive study which aims to determine the total BMI value and type of nutritional intake in the elderly. The research was carried out using measurements and observations carried out at one time only with the inclusion criteria being elderly people who could be communicated with. The research results were obtained from 18 samples experiencing malnutrition and 20 samples at risk of experiencing malnutrition, while for measuring the BMI of the elderly, the results obtained were 0=BMI <19; there were 10 people, value 1=BMI 19-21; there are 29 people, value 1=BMI 21-23: there are 6 people and value 3=BMI > 23; there are 5 people.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a disease that continues to grow and becomes a global health problem in both developed and developing countries. The number of cases of HIV/AIDS in adolescents has increased, where adolescents are a group at risk for HIV/AIDS transmission. High social mobility of adolescents causes social, cultural, cultural, and physical and psychological changes. As a result, adolescents have a high vulnerability to transmission of various types of diseases, especially HIV/AIDS. Good knowledge about the disease will help adolescents to make efforts to prevent HIV/AIDS. The purpose of this study was to describe the knowledge of adolescents about HIV/AIDS in SMP Madya Utama Medan. This research method is a research with quantitative approach with descriptive type and cross sectional design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The sample in this study were students of class VIII and IX SMP Madya Utama Medan, as many as 45 respondents. The statistical test used is a univariate test which produces a variable frequency distribution. Data collection by using a knowledge questionnaire. The results showed that from 45 respondents, 34 respondents (53.33%) had less knowledge about HIV/AIDS, 12 respondents (26,67%) had good knowledge and 9 respondents (20,0 %) had sufficient knowledge. Most teenagers have less knowledge about HIV/AIDS, so it is necessary to increase knowledge through the provision of health education related to HIV/AIDS and its prevention.
