Abstract

Students' lack of knowledge regarding local wisdom, especially the process of making palm sugar, can result in the loss of national identity. Students' relatively low scientific thinking skills can cause students to have difficulty filtering relevant information and global issues, this will also have an impact on the fading of local wisdom with modernization and the flow of globalization. Apart from that, the teacher's lack of information regarding scientific knowledge in the process of making palm sugar means that the integration of local wisdom in science learning is not yet optimal and learning is still theoretical. This research aims to: (1) identify scientific knowledge in the process of making palm sugar as local wisdom in Banyumas; and (2) analyzing the potential of scientific knowledge in the process of making palm sugar to empower students' scientific thinking skills. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data sources include informants and relevant journals. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation and documentation methods. The data validity technique uses triangulation techniques. The data analysis technique uses interactive analysis. The results of this research show that the process of making palm sugar contains scientific knowledge consisting of three aspects, namely biology, physics and chemistry. Scientific knowledge in the process of making palm sugar has the potential to empower scientific thinking skills which include 4 aspects, namely inquiry, analysis, inference and argument

Abstract

The lack of teacher information regarding the scientific knowledge contained in the process of making tempeh gembus has an impact on students' low analytical thinking skills. This study aims to: (1) analyze the scientific knowledge in the process of making tempeh gembus; (2) analyze the potential of scientific knowledge in the process of making tempeh gembus towards empowering students' analytical thinking skills; and (3) analyze the correlation of scientific knowledge in the process of making tempeh gembuswith the basic competencies in science learning materials. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with an ethnographic approach. The primary data sources for this research are from observations and interviews with tempeh gembus producers and junior high school science teachers in the Karangpandan District. The sampling technique used is snowball sampling. Data collection is carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The instrument validity test technique uses expert validation (two experts). Data validity test technique uses triangulation of data collection techniques. Data analysis is conducted using Miles and Huberman's interactive model analysis. The results show that the process of making tempeh gembus contains scientific knowledge (aspects of physics, chemistry, and biology). The scientific knowledge in the process of making tempeh gembus has the potential to empower students' analytical thinking skills. The scientific knowledge in the process of making tempeh gembus presented in booklet form is related to the basic competencies in junior high school science learning materials

Abstract

The integration of local wisdom into science learning faces challenges due to the focus on theoretical understanding rather than real-world applications. Teachers often overlook the potential of local wisdom in science education, and the process of incorporating cultural phenomena as scientific learning topics is perceived as complex. This study aims to identify the scientific knowledge embedded in the "Patehan" tradition of the Yogyakarta Palace. The research follows a qualitative ethnographic approach with a sample of five respondents selected via purposive sampling from the Patehan servants. Data collection involved interviews, observations, and documentation, with internal validation for data accuracy. Data analysis was carried out interactively through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the "Patehan" tradition contains scientific knowledge across four main aspects: biology, physics, chemistry, and earth and space sciences. These findings highlight the potential of local wisdom, such as the "Patehan" tradition, to enhance students' understanding of science concepts

Abstract

Students' lack of understanding of local wisdom and teachers' inability to integrate it into science lessons has resulted in students being less trained in problem solving, which in turn has led to underdeveloped analytical thinking skills (ATS). This study aims to: determine the effectiveness of using the local wisdom booklet of tradisi pengunduhan sarang burung walet (TPSBW) in Kebumen with the problem based learning (PBL) model in empowering ATS in seventh grade students in science subjects. The population in this study were all seventh grade students of SMP N 9 Surakarta in the 2024/2025 academic year. This type of research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental method. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling so that class VII H was obtained as the experimental class and class VII G as the control class. The research design used was pretest posttest control group. The data collection technique used a test method in the form of multiple choice questions. The research procedure includes, pretest, giving treatment by applying the local wisdom booklet of TPSBW in Kebumen with the PBL model in the experimental class and the PBL model alone in the control class, and posttest. The test was given to measure students' ATS. The results of this study are the application of the local wisdom booklet of TPSBW in Kebumen with the PBL model is effective in empowering students' ATS with a significance value (0.000 0.05). The average ATS in the experimental class increased by 18.70 points

Abstract

The low knowledge of students' local wisdom, especially jenang kudus, has an impact on Indonesia's identity in the future. In addition, Indonesian students have low logical thinking skills, this also affects the fading of local wisdom in Indonesia, students have difficulty filtering foreign cultures carried by globalization. This study aims to: (1) analyze the scientific knowledge contained in the process of making jenang Kudus; (2) analyze the potential of scientific knowledge contained in the process of making jenang Kudus to empower junior high school students' logical thinking skills; (3) analyze the relationship of scientific knowledge contained in the process of making jenang Kudus to the material in science learning. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with an ernographic approach. The data sources include informants and articles. The sampling technique was done with snowball sampling technique. Data collection was collection using interview, observation, documentation and journal analysis. The data validity test technique was carried out using triangulation techniques. Data analysis techniques using interactive analysis techniques. The results of this study show that the process of making Jenang Kudus contains scientific knowledge of science from three aspects including biology, chemistry and physical. Scientific knowledge in the process of making jenang Kudus has the potential to empower logical thinking skills which include 5 indicators including ordering, comparing, contrasting, evaluating, selecting. Scientific knowledge in the process of making jenang Kudus is related to junior high school science materials including temperature and heat, mixtures, physical and chemical changes, additives, and food substances.
