Abstract

This research aims to develop a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model specifically designed for vocational agribusiness education to address the issue of conventional and less contextual learning approaches that hinder students' engagement and competence development. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method, adopting a modified Borg and Gall model consisting of seven stages: preliminary study, model planning, initial product development, limited trial, product revision, field testing, and final product refinement. The research was conducted at SMK Karya Bhakti Pringsewu, involving students of the agribusiness expertise program. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation sheets, student learning outcome tests (pre-test and post-test), and perception questionnaires. The results indicate that the developed model is both feasible and effective. Expert validation showed that the model met content and design standards with a "good" category, The implementation of the model significantly improved student learning outcomes, increased active participation, and enhanced vocational competencies, particularly in entrepreneurial attitudes and real-world problem-solving. Furthermore, students and teachers gave positive responses regarding the practicality and meaningfulness of the learning experience. The study concludes that Project-Based Learning is a suitable and impactful model for improving the quality of vocational education in agribusiness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of agribusiness entrepreneurship training on the development of small-scale farming enterprises in Teluk Betung, Bandar Lampung City. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the research involved 30 smallholder farmers who participated in an entrepreneurship training program in 2021. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial motivation after the training. Notable improvements were observed in business planning, simple financial recording, market opportunity identification, and innovation in agricultural product processing. The training also fostered a more independent and market-oriented entrepreneurial mindset among participants. However, some challenges remained in post-training implementation, such as limited access to facilities and markets, as well as the lack of continuous mentoring. The study concludes that entrepreneurship training plays a vital role in strengthening smallholder farmers’ capacity and should be complemented by sustainable support systems to enhance its long-term impact.

Abstract

The This study aims to examine the role of vocational education in promoting the adoption of modern agricultural technologies in remote areas, with a specific focus on the Lampung region. The rapid development of agricultural technologies requires farmers to possess strong technical competencies in order to enhance both productivity and the sustainability of farming practices. Vocational education serves as an alternative educational model that emphasizes practical and applicable skills, making it highly relevant to the real-world needs of farmers. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection methods such as surveys, in-depth interviews, and direct observations. The findings are expected to inform the development of vocational education policies that are responsive to local needs. Moreover, the study aims to formulate strategies to optimize the role of vocational education in supporting the digital transformation of agriculture. This research is crucial for strengthening food security and promoting sustainable rural development in the era of modernization. This study contributes to the academic and policy discourse by highlighting the pivotal role of vocational education in bridging the gap between technological advancement and practical implementation in rural farming communities. It offers a contextualized framework for integrating vocational training into agricultural development strategies and provides actionable insights for policymakers, educators, and development practitioners working to modernize agriculture in remote areas.
