Abstract

Knowledge is the result of human sensing, or the result of someone knowing about objects through the senses they have, namely the senses of sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. Covid-19 is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 which infects the respiratory system. The spread of Covid-19 has the potential to trigger anxiety disorders in the community. The problem in this study is that data on the visitation of pediatric patients at the FDS Prapen dental clinic showed a decrease in the number of visits during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parental knowledge about Covid-19 and the level of anxiety in taking their child to a pediatric dentist during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research method was a cross-sectional analytic research study design. The samples in this study were the parents of patients who took their children to the FDS Prapen clinic during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the amount of 40 respondents and the sample calculation used accidental sampling technique. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. Data analysis technique used the Rank Kendall's Tau test. The results showed that the knowledge of respondents about Covid was in (85%) good category and (92,5%) respondents did not experience anxiety when taking their children to a pediatric dentist during the Covid-19 pandemic. Analysed data showed (p=0,361),  it means p values > 0,05 it be conclude that there is no relationship between the level of knowledge about Covid with anxiety Level in Taking care the children dentist during Covid-19 pandemic. This research can be additional information for clinic dentistry especially in the management of patient care during the Covid-19 pandemic and for parents of patients who experience anxiety.

Abstract

Anxiety is a psychological reaction to something unwanted. Dental anxiety is the thought that something scary will happen before someone has a dental visit or treatment. The results of the initial data collection related to anxiety about tooth extraction at SD Islam Maryam Surabaya, it is known that 86% of children experience severe anxiety. The study aims to determine the relationship between parental knowledge and children's anxiety levels in the act of removing teeth in class IV SD Islam Maryam Surabaya. The type of research used was analytic research with a cross-sectional design, with 65 class IV children as research subjects. Data collection method by means of a questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses the Chi Square test. The test results from the study obtained an Asymp.sig.(2-tailed) value of 0.000, which means that the p value (signification) is smaller than α (0.05) so that parental knowledge is related to the level of anxiety in the act of removing teeth in class IV SD Islam Maryam Surabaya. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus causes manifestations in the oral cavity which are usually called oral diabetes which include dental caries, dry mouth, gums that bleed easily (gingivitis), tartar, alveolar bone resorption, and periodontitis. Dental caries is the most common complication in people with diabetes mellitus type 2 with a high prevalence rate of up to 55%. It was found that on average patients suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2 at the Pakong Community Health Center, Pamekasan Regency experienced dental caries of 4.6, which is included in the high category. The problem of dental caries in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2 is still high, and family support in efforts to maintain dental and oral health is still lacking. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between family support in maintaining oral health and dental caries in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2. This type of research is a cross-sectional correlation analytical research by means of examination and filling out questionnaires. The respondents in this study were 56 patients suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2 using the Slovin formula and using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique uses the chi-square test. This research shows that there is a significant relationship between family support in maintaining oral health and dental caries in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2 at the Pakong health center, Pamekasan district.

Abstract

In everyday life, it is very important to maintain health, one of which is regarding dental and oral health. The problem in this research is the influence of Whatsapp videos on pregnant women's knowledge about visits to the dental clinic at the Kwanyar Health Center, Bangkalan Regency, Madura. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of Whatsapp videos on pregnant women's knowledge about visiting the dental clinic at the Kwanyar Health Center, Bangkalan Regency, Madura. The research method is this research approach is a Quantitative approach, the research method used is the Quasi Experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research design, the research population is pregnant women in the working area of ​​the Kwanyar Health Center, Bangkalan Regency, Madura. The sample was taken in the form of accidental sampling, namely pregnant women who visited the Kwanyar Health Center Dental Clinic, totaling 30 respondents within a period of one week. Data collection uses a questionnaire via Google Forms. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique is in the form of the Wilcoxon Statistical Test. Research results based on the Wilcoxon Statistical Test showed a ρ value (0.01) < 0.05, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of WhatsApp videos on pregnant women's knowledge about visits to the Dental Clinic at the Kwanyar Health Center, Bangkalan Regency, Madura.

Abstract

The average debris index in pregnant women at the Buduran Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency is in the bad category. The high debris index is caused by several factors from the way brushing teeth. During pregnancy, pregnant women are encouraged to always maintain oral hygiene, namely by brushing their teeth regularly and the right way to maintain the health of their personal teeth and mouth, so as to avoid oral diseases that can affect pregnancy. The purpose of this study is to find out relationship between brushing teeth and debris index in pregnant women at the Buduran Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency. This type of research is an analytical research with a cross sectional method with a sample of pregnant women at the Buduran Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency which totals 44 pregnant women. The data collection instruments used are examination sheets to measure the debris index and observation sheets to assess how to brush teeth. The analysis technique uses the Chi-Square test. The results of the research on how to brush the teeth of the pregnant women at the Buduran Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency are the medium category, which is 54.5%. The debris index of pregnant women at the Buduran Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency is included in the moderate category of 56.8%. The results from the study obtained a p value of 0.023 or a P score of significance below α (0.05). There is relationship between brushing teeth and debris index in pregnant women at the Buduran Healt Center, Sidoarjo Regency.

Abstract

Efforts to overcome dental and oral health problems and improve oral hygiene can be done by preventing and eliminating plaque accumulation. Efforts to prevent the appearance of plaque are called plaque control. The results of examining the PHP index in class 11 of SMA Negeri 1 Porong showed that 5 out of 10 respondents had a bad plaque index with a prevalence of 50% with an average PHP index of 3.54. High PHP index. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of gargling using lemon solution with levels of 10% and 15% in reducing the dental plaque index in class 11 students of SMA Negeri 1 Porong in 2024. This type of research is Pre-Experimental research with One Group Pretest Posttest with a sample of students Class 11 of SMA Negeri 1 Porong, totaling 52 students. The data collection instrument used was an examination sheet to measure the PHP index. The analysis technique uses an unpaired T test (Independent T-Test). The test results from the research obtained a ρ value of 0.108 or a significant ρ score above α (0.05). The conclusion from this study is that there is no difference in the effectiveness of gargling using lemon solution with levels of 10% and 15%.

Abstract

Background: Elderly people are expected to have a minimum of 20 functioning teeth so that mastication, speech, and aesthetic functions are assumed to be normal. However, in reality, tooth loss still occurs in some elderly people, so they only have less than 20 functioning teeth. Problem: Low percentage of functioning teeth in the elderly. Research Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes about dental and oral health with the number of functioning teeth in the elderly at Integrated Service Post Melati VI, Karanglo Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency. Method: This type of research is cross-sectional analytical research. The sample of respondents was 52 elderly people. The research instrument to measure knowledge and attitudes about dental and oral health in the elderly uses a questionnaire sheet and a dental examination sheet to identify the number of functioning teeth. The data obtained were analyzed using non-parametric tests with chi square. Results: There was no relationship between knowledge about dental and oral health and the number of functioning teeth. There is a relationship between attitudes about dental and oral health and the number of functioning teeth (study at the Melati VI Integrated Service Post for the Elderly, Karanglo Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency, 2024)

Abstract

According to WHO, 12 year old children are Global Monitoring of Dental Caries, because all permanent teeth of 12 year old children have grown except for the third molars. The problem in this study is the DMF-T figure in class VI A students at SDN Wonokromo 1 Surabaya in 2022, the DMF-T results were 3.7, which is included in the moderate category. The study aims to determine the knowledge of class VI A students of SDN Wonokromo 1 about dental caries in Wonokromo District, Surabaya City. The type of research used is descriptive research, with 30 students as respondents. The data collection method uses a questionnaire method. Data analysis techniques by calculating the average answer from respondents. The results of this study show that students' knowledge about the definition and causes of dental caries is included in the good criteria, knowledge about the effects of dental caries is included in the good criteria, knowledge about how to prevent dental caries is included in the good criteria, and knowledge about dental caries treatment is included in the moderate criteria, so it can be concluded that the knowledge of class VI A students of SDN Wonokromo 1 Surabaya is included in the good criteria.
