This research aims to find out how the use of picture storybooks as a learning medium can improve the reading skills of third-grade students at SDN Inpres Sai. The study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews with the principal, classroom teachers, and students, and supported by documentation. The results of this study show that the use of picture storybooks as a learning medium is quite effective and attracts students’ interest in improving their reading skills. The obstacles experienced by teachers include the limited availability of picture storybooks and the lack of variety in existing picture storybooks. The solution to these problems is that teachers reproduce the storybooks themselves or find other stories from the internet. This study recommends that teachers should be more creative in using learning media.
