This quasi-experimental research aimed to find out the effectiveness of problem posing learning model in terms of student's understanding of mathematical concepts. The population of this research was all eleven science grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Gedongtataan in academic year of 2016/2017 as many as 228 students that were distributed into seven classes evenly based on the understanding of mathematical concepts. The samples of this research were students of XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 class which were chosen by cluster random sampling. The data of students understanding of mathematical concept were obtained by essay test given before and after the lesson. The data analysis of this research used t-test. Based on the results of this research and discussion, it was concluded that problem posing learning model was effective in terms of understanding of mathematical concepts.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran problem posing ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA semester genap SMA Negeri 1 Gedongtataan tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 sebanyak 228 siswa yang terdistribusi dalam tujuh kelas secara merata berdasarkan pemahaman konsep matematisnya. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 1 dan XI IPA 2 yang dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Desain yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Data pemahaman konsep matematis siswa diperoleh dari soal uraian yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran. Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem posing efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis.Kata kunci: efektivitas, model pembelajaran problem posing, pemahaman konsep matematis
