Al Ishlah Jurnal Pendidikan
This journal focuses on advancing scholarly research and critical discourse in the field of education. It publishes original research articles that address contemporary issues and emerging trends in curriculum development, instructional practices, learning processes, educational policy, and teacher preparation. The journal aims to contribute to the development of educational theory and practice in both national and international contexts. The journal also welcomes submissions related to environmental education and studies that examine learning through psychological, social, cultural, cognitive, and historical perspectives. Research that explores the interrelationships among teaching, knowledge construction, learner development, and educational contexts is particularly encouraged. Furthermore, the journal accepts research and academic discussions across a broad range of subject matter within education, including mathematics education, religious education, language pedagogy and English for Specific Purposes (ESP), natural sciences, social sciences, history, chemistry, and other related educational disciplines. The journal includes the following thematic sections: Learning: Theoretical and empirical investigations concerning learning processes and their development across diverse contexts. Issues and Trends: Analytical and interpretive essays addressing current educational, social, and philosophical issues. Learning in Everyday Life: Studies of learning experiences occurring outside formal academic settings, such as in homes, communities, digital environments, and cultural institutions. Teacher Education: Research on teacher preparation, professional development, and the broader conditions shaping the teaching profession. Education Policy: Critical analyses of educational policies, their principles, implementation, and effects on educational practice. Comments and Criticism: Scholarly dialogue aimed at clarifying, challenging, or expanding upon previously published works. Book Reviews: Reviews of recent publications relevant to the field of education. The Editorial Board invites manuscripts employing rigorous quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approaches that demonstrate academic originality and significant contribution to educational scholarship. All submissions must present a thorough review of relevant literature, articulate a clearly defined research problem or argument, and provide well-grounded conclusions addressing implications and limitations.

<![CDATA[This study aims at investigating what students expect when taking a Creative Writing course. To obtain the required data, an exploratory case study was utilized by distributing a questionnaire to the students and conducting interviews with the writing lecturer and the head of the study program. 60 students, one writing lecturer, and the head of the Indonesian Language Study Program were involved in this study. Findings in this study indicated that students expected to learn by having more practice in writing. Four emergent topics were discussed, namely building creativity and accuracy in writing, effective learning methods, available learning resources, and considering students' ability and interest in writing. They wished to write by following the writing process explained by the lecturer. This study concluded that it is required to design a learning model which facilitated students to learn in Creative Writing courses in a better way. The learning model is expected to provide students with the writing process and grammar.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to determine the concept of the education system in the family through the perspective of Hamka's thought in Al-Azhar interpretation that is relevant to the conditions of the modern era. This research uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method. The data are taken from the letters in the Qur'an which have been interpreted in the interpretation of Al-Azhar from the thought of an educational figure, namely Hamka. The data analysis procedure used in this research is qualitative content analysis. Checking the validity of this research data is done through credibility, transferability, triangulation, dependability, and confirmability. The results of the study found that 1) the purpose of family education is oriented to the happiness of the world and the hereafter, 2) the main educator in the family must have character values that can be imitated, 3) children are students in the family who must be able to grow and develop, both physically, psychological, religious, and social in navigating the life of the world and the hereafter, 4) the educational curriculum in the family is oriented to useful knowledge, 5) educational methods must be in line with the Qur'an and Sunnah, 6) evaluation of family education is built through communication between parents and children who are based on love.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to determine the results of the evaluation of the implementation of video at universities related to online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach with the evaluation method of the Stufflebeam model, namely CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). Data were collected through documentation, observation, and interviews. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and concluding. The results of the study concluded that the use of videos at universities during online learning activities was good. The shortcomings found were in the input aspect to improve the digital competence of lecturers in mastering the latest technology as a learning medium. The learning process must be improved again to stimulate students to be more active during discussions. Meanwhile, the product aspect related to learning outcomes also shows a decrease in student achievement and attitudes in motivating themselves to learn. The results of this study have implications for the understanding of lecturers and universities about the readiness of facilities and technology for online learning activities.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of implementing group discussions on improving Japanese listening skills in oral comprehension courses. This research is experimental research with Quasy Experimental method with Posttest only control group design. The sampling technique used was the non-probability sampling technique. So, the research sample consisted of 2 classes of 60 students. The data collection techniques used were observation and listening tests. Data analysis used a t-test to determine listening skills before and after using group discussions. The results showed that the value of t-Statt-Table (-13,863 2,0009), meaning that group discussions conducted through zoom positively impacted listening skills. Meanwhile, the level of oral understanding found from the listening test components shows a weakness in the evaluation component of the statements given from the information discussed. The ability to understand the questions in dialogue that are practised in group discussions becomes a very good component of oral comprehension. So, the results of this study have implications for the teacher's understanding that discussions improve students' speaking skills and can also affect the level of listening skills.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of machine translation on Japanese writing skills. The ability to write Japanese is also understood through the components of writing. This study uses experimental research using a one-group experimental design. It was conducted at Private University in Jakarta. Data collection techniques are documents and written tests. The participants were 60 students who received the Writing Course. To determine the effect of using machine translation on Japanese writing skills, it was analyzed using the t-test: Paired Two Sample for Means. The results of the study concluded that machine translation had a significant impact on the completion of writing assignments so which led to an increase in writing ability. However, in the study of each component of writing, there are still weaknesses in the aspects of grammar and the development of logical ideas. Therefore, this research has implications for understanding how machine translation works, which has limitations and students must review their writings at the editing stage.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to obtain the results of the analysis of the needs for speaking Arabic teaching materials through the basic values of local wisdom that are relevant to 21st-century skills. The research method used qualitative descriptive phenomena that occur in the field related to the need for teaching materials to speak Arabic. Participants were students and teachers of Arabic speaking courses. Data were collected through observation, documents and questionnaires. Technical analysis of data was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. In addition, the data analysis technique used expert judgment. The findings show that teaching materials for speaking Arabic must be relevant to the cultural values of local wisdom and in harmony with the culture in Arabic so that students still have nationalist character values. So, teaching materials for speaking Arabic must present materials that can develop critical thinking patterns in the communication process, reflect the cultural values of the archipelago or local wisdom values that are in harmony with the culture in Arabic, and meet the demands of 21st-century skills so that students can compete in the era of globalization.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of teachers in the learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic as a factor that describes professional educators. This study used a cross-sectional design. Participants were taken randomly from one of the private universities in Palembang. The participants were 120 people. Data were taken from questionnaires, teaching documents owned by teachers and also a literature review. The data analysis technique used is the percentage technique and cross-tabulation. The results show that the quality of teachers must have several aspects so that the implementation of teaching and learning during the covid-19 pandemic goes well and can achieve educational goals. As for the quality teaching aspect of the findings of this study, the quality of teachers from the findings of this study must carry out professional development, in-service training, pre-service training, teacher leadership, policies and partnerships, teacher curriculum training, and teaching management, and teacher qualifications. The results of the study have implications for the understanding of teachers to improve personal abilities to fulfil the components of quality teachers.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to determine the interest of students in high school in the study program at the university. This study uses a survey research approach. The research was conducted in Buton Regency. There were 292 participants taken from high school. Primary data was collected through questionnaires and secondary data was taken from the literature review. The data analysis technique used is the percentage technique and cross-tabulation. The results of the study found several majors that high school students were interested in if they wanted to continue their education in college. The majors are Information Technology, Accounting, Civil Engineering, Computers, Marine and Fisheries, Management, Development Economics, Forestry and Environment, Fisheries and Marine Affairs. The choice of majors reflects the choice of students according to the resources and needs of Buton Regency. Students know about job opportunities that have great opportunities to absorb labour. The results of the study also have implications for the understanding that universities wishing to develop and establish new study programs must be based on regional development needs]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to find out the work of students as young social entrepreneurs who are supported by curriculum instruments, understand the process of students consolidating themselves as young social entrepreneurs as well as thinkers, and the emergence of new awareness among students as young social entrepreneurs figure. This research is descriptive qualitative research. Informants in the study numbered 70 students who had businesses such as culinary, service providers, fashion, and others. However, the participants who were willing to be interviewed were only 9 students. Data collection is done through interviews, then the data is analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that there was a change in student self-orientation as an agent of change characterized by the process of consolidation into a young social entrepreneur who has the ability to find loopholes and opportunities outside of their academic tasks. The ability to do this cracking zone, actually students want to get out of their comfort zone while trying to realize new awareness to become young social entrepreneurs in the midst of uncertain social, economic, and political conditions.]]>

<![CDATA[The Pandemic Covid-19 necessitates all activities to be network-based, including the collegiate learning process. Prior to the epidemic, instructors were mechanically or face-to-face evaluated for their learning. Monitoring and evaluation, on the other hand, are carried out online during the e-learning learning process. However, in the learning process through e-learning, monitoring and evaluation are carried out online. To facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of online learning by lecturers, it is necessary to build a web-based information system. The purpose of the research is the creation of an information system for monitoring and evaluating learning evaluation through blended learning. The research methodology used is a research and development research design using waterfall analysis with the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, integration and testing, operation and maintenance. The object-oriented research target is the monitoring and evaluation assessment information system. The result of the research is the development of an application for monitoring and evaluating learning assessments there are: (1) Using the system, the monitoring and evaluation of learning carried out by the monitoring and evaluation team can be easily carried out during the evaluation process. (2) The system can display a description of the results of the evaluation of learning monitoring and evaluation, (3) The system developed is used at the college for monitoring and evaluating learning activities through blended learning.]]>
