Abstract

This study aims to develop a mobile-based learning media to support the implementation of the Project Citizen model and to analyze its effectiveness in civic education within higher education settings. The research utilized a Research and Development (RD) approach, applying the ADDIE model which consists of five phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The development process involved one media expert, one subject matter expert, and 52 university students as participants. Validation from the media expert resulted in a score of 91%, indicating the media is very feasible. Similarly, the material expert gave a validation score of 94%, also categorized as very feasible. Student feedback, collected through questionnaires, yielded an effectiveness score of 83%, classifying the media as very effective. The findings demonstrate that the developed mobile-based Project Citizen learning media is both feasible and effective. It supports active civic engagement and structured learning, aligning well with the objectives of civic education in higher education institutions. The mobile-based Project Citizen media is a viable and effective tool for enhancing civic education. Its integration into the curriculum can facilitate meaningful student participation in democratic practices through project-based learning.

Abstract

The limited variety of learning media in Grade IV Indonesian language lessons, particularly in local content on narrative texts, has led to low student interest and poor reading comprehension. To address this issue, this study developed and evaluated a Pop-Up Book learning medium enhanced with Augmented Reality (AR). This research involved Grade IV teachers, students, and expert reviewers. Data were collected through observations, interviews, tests, and questionnaires. The primary instruments were questionnaire sheets, while data were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. Effectiveness was measured through pretest–posttest comparisons and N-gain analysis on small- and large-scale trials. Feasibility assessments yielded high scores: material experts (96.66%), media experts (98.75%), teacher responses (97.5%), and student responses (97.08%). Pretest–posttest results showed improved knowledge competence, with N-gain scores of 0.79 (small scale) and 0.66 (large scale), indicating the media was “quite effective” in enhancing reading comprehension. The integration of Pop-Up Books with AR technology provided interactive, visually engaging content that stimulated student interest and facilitated comprehension. The consistently high ratings from experts, teachers, and students confirm its quality and relevance to classroom needs. The AR-assisted Pop-Up Book is highly feasible, effective, and suitable for improving narrative text reading comprehension in Grade IV Indonesian language lessons. Its implementation can serve as an innovative approach to enhance learning engagement and outcomes.

Abstract

Teacher performance plays a crucial role in achieving educational success and is significantly influenced by the leadership and management of school principals. This study investigates how principal management practices contribute to improving teacher performance in vocational high schools. This qualitative descriptive study employed a case study approach and was conducted at two vocational high schools in Majalengka. Participants were selected using purposive and snowball sampling methods, involving principals, teachers, and students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The data analysis process included data reduction, data display, and verification, while data validity was ensured through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability measures. Findings reveal that effective principal planning is evident through the development of school vision, mission, goals, strategic and operational plans, and a positive working climate. Organizational efforts include establishing a clear structure, curriculum planning, co-curricular programs, teaching schedules, and job descriptions. Implementation is carried out via activities such as socialization, in-house training (IHT), curriculum workshops, lesson plan (RPP) training, industrial work practice programs, and discipline enforcement. Evaluation of principal leadership is conducted by monitoring teacher attendance, assessing understanding of school policies, and observing classroom practices. Principals play a pivotal role in enhancing teacher performance through strategic planning, structured organization, effective implementation, and continuous evaluation. These efforts collectively contribute to improved teaching quality and educational outcomes in vocational schools.

Abstract

The Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) emphasizes the importance of numeracy literacy among students. In response, this study aims to develop a valid and practical problem-based learning (PBL) model to enhance numeracy skills in junior high school students, offering a reference framework for mathematics educators. A Research and Development (RD) methodology was employed using the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The research involved iterative trials to evaluate and refine the effectiveness of the proposed PBL model. The developed PBL model showed high validity and practicality. Students’ mathematical numeracy achievement reached 87.50% using the classical PBL approach. Additionally, average numeracy scores improved from 2.73 in Trial I to 3.05 in Trial II. Students demonstrated active engagement throughout the learning process, meeting criteria for effective learning as defined in the study. The results confirm that the PBL model effectively enhances students’ numeracy literacy and supports active learning. The novelty of this study lies in the validated and effective instructional device developed through a structured RD process. The final model provides a practical tool for mathematics instruction in junior high schools, concluding the development cycle with promising implications for curriculum design and pedagogical practice.
