Abstract

Komunikasi merupakan cara manusia untuk menyampaikan sesuatu kepada orang lain. Lazimnya, komunikasi disampaikan dengan cara berbicara melalui suara dan didengar oleh telinga lawan bicara. Namun, cara ini menjadi tidak sesuai manakala pembicara atau lawan bicara adalah penyandang disabilitas pendengaran. Penyandang disabilitas pendengaran pada umumnya tidak dapat mendengar dan tidak dapat berbicara seperti orang lain (tanpa disabilitas pendengaran), sehingga penyandang disabilitas pendengaran memiliki cara berkomunikasi sendiri yaitu melalui gerakan tubuh atau lebih dikenal dengan bahasa isyarat. Masalah muncul ketika penyandang disabilitas pendengaran berkomunikasi dengan orang lain, di mana orang tanpa disabilitas pendengaran tidak mengerti akan bahasa isyarat, sedangkan penyandang disabilitas pendengaran tidak dapat mendengar orang lain berbicara. Untuk itu perlu dibuat sebuah aplikasi yang dapat mengubah suara ke bahasa isyarat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk merancang sebuah aplikasi pengenalan suara (speech recognition) dan mengubah informasi digital dari suara tersebut ke dalam gambar. Sebagaimana halnya peran teknologi informasi yang telah banyak membantu mempermudah jalannya komunikasi, aplikasi ini diharapkan dapat membantu terciptanya komunikasi yang lancar antara penyandang disabilitas pendengaran dengan orang lain (tanpa disabilitas pendengaran)

Abstract

Tidak dapat kita pungkiri lagi bahwa perkembangan teknologi sangat banyak membatu aktifitas pekerjaan manusia dimana dengan perkembangan teknologi ini dapat membatu pekerjaan manusia dengan cepat dan tepat serta tidak memakai tenaga yang banyak. Peran aktif teknologi ini dapat kita lihat banyaknya permasalahan-permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat maupun pemerintahan dan perusahaan dapat teratasii dengan adanya sistem informasi yang relevan dengan hadirnya solusi yang mutakhir dan sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman sekarang. Dalam hal mendorong roda perekonomian di Indonesia PT. PLN di tuntut untuk selalu meningkatkan pelayanan yang baik bagi seluruh pelanggannya di Indonesia. Salah satu bentuk pelayanan yang paling menonjol adalah menjaga keakuratan data pemakaian listrik di customer sehingga tercipta suatu bisnis yang transparan antara pihak PLN dengan seluruh customernya. Salah satu tindakan bisnis yang transparan ini adalah proses stand meter setiap bulan di setiap customernya. Pada dasarnya pencatatan stand meter dengan menggunakan metode lama PLN melakukan proses stand meter dengan cara manual yaitu dengan cara mencatat meter dengan kertas dan pulpen dari satu customer ke customer yang lain. Hal ini sering sekali merugikan PT. PLN dimana pencatatan ini mengakibatkan memakan waktu yang lama, kesalahan penulisan data stand meter yang tidak sesuai karena faktor Sumber Daya Manusia bahkan sampai aksi pencurian daya listrik dimana kesemua ini sangat merugikan pihak PT. PLN. Untuk mengatasi itu semua PT. PLN melakukan stand meter dengan cara online ke komputer. Dengan melihat permasalahan diatas maka peneliti berusaha untuk membuat suatu aplikasi yang dapat dipakai untuk catat stand meter PLN bagi costumer pasca bayar sehingga di harapkan customer dapat melakukan catat stand meter dengan waktu yang telah di tentukan antara PLN dengan costemer sehingga untuk kedepannya tercipta suatu proses bisnis yang transparan antara costumer dan PT. PLN yang berdasarkan atas dasar saling percaya dan saling menghormati tanpa adanya kecurangan-kecurangan yang merugikan PT. PLN

Abstract

Motivation is a support or a fundamental reason for one's fighting spirit to do something. While the performance is the measure, and or quality of work of people or groups within the organization in carrying out the main tasks. Functions which guided by norms, standard operating rules, criteria and measurements that set or applicable in the organization. This study aims to decide work enthusiasm on employee performance at PT. XYZ in Medan. Data obtained from questionnaires distributed to respondents numbered 14 people using saturated sampling. The research method used is quantitative descriptive. The results of this study note the regression equation of Y = 73,580 + 353X with a positive value that work enthusiasm has a positive effect on employee performance. While the results of the T test can be seen the results of the T table for df = 12 with a level of 10% while the T count obtained from this study showed a value of 4.346. Due to T count> T table = 4.346> 0.1, then Ha accepted and Ho rejected. Thus, the determination test results obtained with the number R2 (R Square) of 0.36 x 100% = 0.36%. Therefore, it can say that the independent variable influences the dependent variable by 0.36% and the remaining 99.64% is influenced by other variables or indicators not examined in this study.

Abstract

In this optical fiber communication system the initial signal in the form of an electrical signal at the transmitter will be changed by the transducer into a light wave which is then transmitted through a fiber optic cable to the receiver located at the end of the cable. At the receiver the optical signal will be reproduced again by the transducer into an electrical signal. This study aims to analyze the performance due to the influence of optical fiber attenuation, connector damping attenuation resulting in a decrease in power in the optical fiber cable and analyze the results of calculations using the link power budget that aims to find the value of the Transsiver to the Receiver. The area or region observed is the Medan-Tebing Tinggi area with two measuring track areas namely the Range Range which has a range of 89.99 km and the Siantar line which has a range of 99.99 km. The method used is the measurement of power, measurement of attenuation and calculations using the link power budget. Comparison of the results of the two measuring devices used, the results of the two measuring devices do not differ greatly between the power meter with the OTDR. So it can be stated that to see the amount of attenuation, the results will be more accurate by using a power meter. Based on comparison of measurement results using oTDR with the results of calculations using the link power budget method it can be seen the level of performance of an optical fiber communication system. For Core 1 range, the comparison is 0.063% and 0.073% for core 2. while for Tebing Tinggi 1 core, the comparison result is 0.032% and 0.005% is obtained for core 2. it can be stated that the performance of the optical fiber communication system is normal and can be used to operate. So that when connecting the optical cable, if it is broken, it must be connected using the same cable and connecting the optical fiber when the core is sterile so that the connection is perfect.

Abstract

Determination of outstanding lecturers is useful to improve the quality of knowledge for a lecturer, the selection of lecturers who are competent in the results obtained can improve the quality of learning. The lack of knowledge of a lecturer is caused by the lack of care from a lecturer in developing a career so that the lecturer does not have competence in his career. The absence of selection of lecturers who excel at the national or university level makes lecturers minimal in developing their knowledge. The selection of lecturers who have achievements is very useful to improve the ability of lecturers to develop knowledge in achievement. The existence of criteria in the selection of outstanding lecturers can be applied by utilizing the electre method in producing criteria in determining outstanding lecturers. Based on the selection of outstanding lecturers that have been done from the many lecturers who participated in only one lecturer who was entitled to receive an award as an outstanding lecturer.

Abstract

This research is very important to be carried out considering the crucial role of English for students of Politeknik LP3I Medan. Yet, in this study later, researchers will investigate the model of English teaching lecturers by analyzing the utterances they say to students while teaching. Here the researcher will analyze the utterance by using FIACS (Accept feelings, Praises or encourages, Accepts or uses ideas, Ask questions, Lecturing, Giving direction, Criticizing or justifying authority) to see the types of lecturers' speeches and student responses (students talk response, students talk initiation, Silence or confusion) in teaching and learning activities. Then the researcher will analyze the teaching model applied by the lecturer with other supporting theories. The research method used in this study is a qualitative analysis of the content in which all data will be displayed and analyzed according to the contents of the interaction of students and lecturers when the English learning process takes place and the results of this study will be explained qualitatively. Data will be collected through transcripts from video recordings containing lecturers' teaching dialogues for 1 month and closed interviews. The sample of this study was two English lecturers at the Lp3i Medan Polytechnic Directorate level I & II. Then, the data that has been collected will be analyzed in several stages, such as: transcribing, data displaying, classifying, analyzing, comparing and concluding. The results of this study found that the two lecturers used as samples in this study used all kinds of speech contained in the theory of Flanders 2010 with different portions, but lecturer A was more dominant using the type of questioning, while lecturer B was more dominant giving direction with the same goal namely stimulating students to actively participate in interacting in class using English. Then the researchers found that both in lecture class A and lecture B, students actively interacted both in responding to lecturers and communicating among their peers. It can be concluded that the lecturers use students-centered learning methods to create a communicative classroom atmosphere and familiarize students more with interacting using English and this study also found that computer engineering students whose predominantly male students had kinesthetic characters active so that they are more active when the lecturer stimulates movement and practice. Abstract

Sambungan las umumnya diterapkan dalam industri, metode pelacakan HAZ pada sambungan las MIG adalah kewajiban untuk mengetahui pengaruh panas pada daerah pengelasan menggunakan metode pelacakan urutan gambar menggunakan termografi inframerah yang diperoleh selama proses pengelasan. Metode yang dilakukan ini dapat berguna untuk mendeteksi dan melacak ketidakstabilan dalam proses pengelasan dan cacat pada sambungan las. Dari percobaan data pertama, kedua dan ketiga dengan hasil batas HAZ rata-rata 17 mm berdasarkan data pengukuran langsung pada hasil pengelasan. Adapun temperatur pada saat pengelasan tertinggi pada waktu detik ke-80 pada pengujian pertama yaitu 280°C. Kata kunci: Sambungan las, pelacakan HAZ, termografi inframerah

Abstract

The heat exchangers is an equipment used to change the temperature and phase of a type of fluid. The process occurs by utilizing the process of heat transfer from high temperature fluids to low temperature fluids. The shell and tube heat exchanger consists of a bundle of pipes connected in parallel and placed in a pipe (shell). One fluid flows in a pipe bundle, while the other fluid flows outside the pipe in the same direction, opposite, or crossing. To improve the efficiency of heat exchange, shell and tube heat exchanger are usually installed with baffles. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the heat exchanger by using the LMTD (Log Mean Temperature Deferences) method. The results of the study are the highest LMTD values located in experiment 6 with a value of 6.75oC and the lowest in experiment 1 is 3.31oC. By using the LMTD method it was found that the greatest effectiveness value was in the first experiment of 0.9773 (97.73%), while the smallest effectiveness value was in experiment 10 with a value of 0.87069 (87.07%).

Abstract

Because electricity is supplied by the National Electric Company, sometimes there is a power outage which results in obstruction of community activities, especially in the household sector at night which is very unfortunate when there is a blackout. This research was conducted to build an electrical power storage system design for lighting that can be used as a power supply when an unexpected power outage occurs. Then after making the circuit is complete then testing is carried out with the aim of knowing the working principle of the circuit and knowing batteries resistance as a means of storing electric power. The components used in this series are one batteries 12 Volt / 3.5 Ah as an electric power storage device, two relays as automatic switches in the circuit, three LED lights in the form of LED modules with a power value of 0.96 Watt each (as many as two) and 0.8 Watts, one CT transformer as batteries charging circuit, one ampere meter to monitor the current value when batteries is charging, and two MCB with a value of 6 Ampere as safety circuit. The result of the research that has been done is that batteries as an electric power storage device can last up to 14 hours 50 minutes with the largest load value of 2.72 Watts.
