Abstract

This study aims to develop a PISA-type test set based on real-world contexts integrated with strategies to see its effectiveness on junior high school students' mathematical literacy skills. The background of this study is the low achievement of Indonesian students' mathematical literacy in PISA, especially in Quantity content. The method used is design research with the Tessmer model through preliminary and formative evaluation stages (self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, and small group). The research subjects were students of class VIII.5 of SMP Negeri 11 Palembang. The results showed that the developed test set was very valid (82.9%) and practical (80%), and had very high reliability (α = 0.959). Students' mathematical literacy skills were in the high (33%), medium (50%), and low (17%) categories. The achievement of the Formulate indicator was 80.83%, Employ 76.94%, and Interpret 70.56%. These findings indicate that the problem set can strengthen students' mathematical literacy skills, especially in understanding context and developing problem-solving strategies, although mathematical interpretation and justification skills still need to be improved.   Keyword : Quantity content, Mathematical literacy skills, PISA type questions

Abstract

This study aims to explore the ethnomathematic elements contained in the traditional martial arts movements of Silek Tuo Minangkabau which developed in Bengkulu. The method used is a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, which includes problem formulation, case selection, information gathering from reliable sources, data collection through direct observation at Silek Tuo schools, in-depth interviews with professors and students, as well as visual documentation and in-depth data analysis. The results of the study indicate that several movements such as horse stances, salutes, hand strikes, baling atas, baling bawah, and batuang contain mathematical concepts, especially the concept of angles (acute, obtuse, right) and geometric shapes such as triangles. In conclusion, the movements in Silek Tuo not only represent cultural and martial values, but also have the potential as contextual media in local culture-based mathematics learning.   Keywords : Exploration, Ethnomathematics, Traditional, Silek Tuo, Minangkabau

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the mind mapping learning model in mathematics learning and to measure the critical thinking skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Gondang. This study employed quantitative research. The research method used was a quasi-experimental method. The data sources were 64 students in grades VIII B and VIII C. The results of the data analysis indicate that the mind mapping learning model has an effect on students' critical thinking skills, as indicated by an n-gain score of 83%, which is considered high. Meanwhile, the n-gain score for the make-a-match class was 73%, which can be considered high. Conclusion: There are differences between the mind mapping and make-a-match models, with the mind mapping model having a better effect than the make-a-match model.   Keywords: Mind mapping, Make a match, n-gain score

Abstract

ABSTRACT. This study aims to reveal deeper students’ numeracy literacy skills in solving the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT) questions. This research was conducted at SMAS Cerdas Murni in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research subjects consisted of 25 students of class XII MIPA-3. The research uses qualitative-methods with a descriptive approach. The research instruments used were SNBT test questions and interviews. The results showed that the numeracy literacy skills of class XII MIPA-3 students varied across each question. In question number 1, students' skills were classified as very low, as they still struggled to simplify complex problems despite understanding basic mathematical concepts. For question number 2, students demonstrated good skills, especially in applying formulas related to sequences and series and in drawing conclusions from implicit information. Question number 3 was rated as excellent, as students were able to process data from tables accurately and correctly apply probability concepts. Question number 4 fell into the fair category, as students could read graphs and perform calculations, but their ability to identify patterns or anomalies was still limited. Lastly, in question number 5, students showed good results with adequate skills in interpreting visual data and drawing conclusions from graphs. Overall, students' numeracy literacy skills were categorized as fair in solving SNBT (National Selection Based on Test) questions.   Keywords: Numeracy Literacy, Ability, SNBT Questions.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the use of RME teaching materials on fraction materials to improve mathematical reasoning and numeracy of elementary school students. The method in preparing this article uses the literature review method, this research presents the results of a search for articles on the use of RME teaching materials in elementary schools. The results of this study indicate that ten articles have been reviewed that RME-based teaching materials are a very effective tool for improving mathematics learning, especially in fraction materials in elementary schools. By combining contextual approaches, concrete media, and technology, RME provides a deeper and more meaningful learning experience for students. Conclusion, Through the RME approach, students can relate mathematical concepts to their daily experiences, thus making learning more relevant and interesting.   Keywords: Teaching Materials, RME, Mathematics

Abstract

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of a Virtual Reality (VR)-based educational game developed with an ethnomathematics approach to improving elementary school students' learning motivation. This approach is rooted in R&D following the ADDIE paradigm, with a focus on the implementation and evaluation stages. A one-group pretest-posttest research design was used for this study. The research subjects were 30 fifth-grade students at an elementary school, who participated in learning using SIVIRA: Social Arithmetic Virtual Reality Application media. Data were collected through a learning motivation questionnaire covering intrinsic and extrinsic aspects, and supplemented by learning observations. The analysis results showed a significant increase in students' learning motivation scores from pre-test (M = 2.94) to post-test (M = 3.79), with a t (29) value = 8.54 and p < 0.001. The effectiveness value based on Cohen's d was 1.56 (high category). Improvements occurred in both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation equally. In conclusion, this study shows that students' learning motivation can be significantly improved through the use of VR learning materials that incorporate local culture. Abstract

This study aims to forecast oil palm production using a multiple linear regression model by considering the relationships among several independent variables: rainfall , number of productive trees , harvested area , labor , fertilizer use , and a seasonal variable . Using secondary data from the company’s Daily Work Logs (Lembar Kerja Harian/LKH), the study employs the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimator to obtain the coefficient vector. The results show a coefficient of determination  of 65%, indicating that 65% of the variation in production can be explained by the input variables. The findings indicate that rainfall has a negative coefficient (-0.34305) suggesting a non-linear and inconsistent relationship with production levels. Thus, the study concludes that internal plantation factors—such as the number of productive trees play a more dominant role in increasing yield, whereas higher rainfall tends to negatively affect production.   Keywords: Palm Oil Production, Linear Regression, Forecasting, Agricultural Yield, Climatic Influence, Plantation Management.
