Abstract

Increasing marine resources is one of the present government programs. To support this, it is necessary to increase human resources in coastal areas. One of the fundamental and important things is basic knowledge of machine repair and maintenance methods. The high cost of repairing and maintaining outboard engines is one of the major issues to fishermen, their lack of knowledge about engine repair and maintenance has resulted in them having to spend more money on it. This dedication activity was attended by 11 people from the “Sehati” fishing group. From the results of the counseling and guidance that has been carried out, 90% of fishermen are in the good category and plan to implement a schedule and how to maintain the fuel, lubricant and engine cooling water system. The remaining 10% of fishermen still do not understand the importance of the ship's outboard engine maintenance schedule, this is due to the low level of education so they still need time to learn the material that has been given. With many fishermen who are able to implement schedules and how to maintain the fuel, lubricant and engine cooling water system, the productivity and welfare of the fishing community increases, especially in the place where this activity is carried out, namely in Pa'bentengang village, Marusu District, Maros Regency.

Abstract

The “Karya Bersama” Fisherman Group in Galesong Village, Galesong District, Takalar Regency as partners in this activity using an outboard engine as a fiberglass boat propulsion engine in fishing activities. In the initial observation, information was found that the service life of their boat engine was very low, which was about 3 years because the engine was often failure. The causes of engine failure are the lack of fishermen’s knowledge on how to run the engine properly and engine maintenance techniques. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of partners in boat engine maintenance techniques. The expected benefit of this activity is to reduce the number of engine breakdowns and reduce operational costs, especially the cost of repairing boat engines. The method of this service activity is counseling by providing material about the general description of ship propulsion engines, types of engine damage, and periodic maintenance techniques on boat engines. Evaluation of the level of knowledge of participants in receiving the transfer of science and technology is carried out using the pre-test method at the beginning of the activity and the post-test conducted at the end of the activity. The results of the activity showed that 90% of the 10 participants had good knowledge of boat engine periodic maintenance techniques and were able to carry out engine maintenance activities correctly.

Abstract

Lakkang is an island surrounded by rivers and has a regular mode of transportation that is used by the community to meet their daily needs in the city of Makassar. The ferry transportation (boat) used has two hulls (catamaran) with a carrying capacity of 20 passengers and 8 two-wheeled vehicles. The number of boats operating as many as 5 units of ships from the Kera-Kera pier to Kampung Lakkang with an average number of trips 4 trips per unit per day. The principle of shipping safety states that a ship that wants to sail must be in a seaworthy condition. In addition, the ship is worthy of receiving the cargo and its transportation and protecting the safety of the cargo, passengers and crew (ABK). This activity was carried out with a total of 30 participants which included boat transportation service operators, the most common being coastal communities and island communities, as well as transportation user services. Submission of service material is done by means of individual interviews. The interview process was also supported by the procurement of pocket books and pamphlets to facilitate participants' understanding of the safety materials presented. Public awareness and understanding of safety during travel during service. It is hoped that in the future the community will be able to implement shipping safety procedures on these ferry transportation services to reduce the risk of shipping accidents.

Abstract

Technology and communication growing rapidly, without being supported by human resources it becomes a challenge in education especially in higher education. One of the issues facing today is the education process, the world of work, and the need for innovation. New design in curriculum is using the Outcome Based Education (OBE) system approach. This system is one of education system that focuses on learning outcomes with measurable final results or outcomes. Introducing OBE system and assessment method in training workshops is one of the methods to make people knowing briefly. The main output of this activity is the increased level of understanding of BMPTTSSI members regarding OBE system and understanding of program educational objectives of study program performance. Participants who participated in the training enthusiastically and realized that the methods that had been used so far could be modified in such a way that the output targets given to the related courses could be assessed. This training provides benefits for the Department of Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering Universitas Hasanuddin, especially the measurement of Course Learning Outcomes (CLO) and how it is implemented. All participants have been more discussion and sharing about how to collaborate in achieving the CLO assessment according to OBE system.

Abstract

One of the urban farming techniques is hydroponic technique. Hydroponics is a planting technique without using soil media. Hydroponics produces better results than conventional techniques. Planting and growing crops in densely populated areas can be intended for personal consumption or for distribution to others. Especially in the midst of the current COVID-19 condition, where we are faced with the threat of a global food crisis and urban farming is one solution to this. The problem faced by the Bontomarannu community in general is the lack of knowledge about the use of narrow land for hydroponic applications. One of the most efficient and effective types of hydroponics in its use is the NFT (nutrient film technique) hydroponic type. It's just that this type of hydroponics is a type that requires very large operational costs (such as electric pumps) and very complicated maintenance (replacement of nutrients and levels. This is what lies behind the idea of ​​applying science and technology at Bontomarannu in the form of Smart Hydroponics technology as the latest hydroponic technique with an automatic concept based on solar energy. With this, it is hoped that local residents can carry out modern farming activities on a small scale at home with an automatic and energy-free system. The IbM program in the future is expected to continue to be able to provide more education to the surrounding community regarding the development of science and technology, especially implementation of laboratory-based scientific products (LBE) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University.

Abstract

The operational activities of wooden ships are classified as very high so that the production of wooden boats still survives today, one of the groups of craftsmen in Takalar Regency is the "TORANI" group which specializes in producing wooden ships of 10 GT to 30 GT. High wooden ship operation activity, must always be improved quality in ensuring the safety of the ship improve the quality of ships in ensuring ship safety, the problems currently faced by partners are ship structure damage due to understanding of connection techniques, selection of ship construction dimensions and the use of bolts and pegs are not yet weak because the construction method is still based on experience. Based on observations in the field, it can be seen that there are many weaknesses made by craftsmen or builders in the connection of structures and also the selection or determination of the dimensions of the structure for example the placement of supports and beams are not fully in accordance with the global load and local loads of the ship structure, another weakness is the selection of the type of connection and the determination of dimensions not in accordance with existing regulations. To be able to provide an understanding, craftsmen need to be given socialization with the target craftsmen being able to recognize the importance of construction strength in ensuring ship safety, being able to use techniques for connecting construction components that meet the criteria and standards, selecting dimensions that match the criteria and standards and the correct bolts and pegs in component connection. wooden boat construction. The results obtained that the level of understanding and skills of the wooden ship craftsmen who received this training was very good. Abstract

Arista mengalami kecelakaan pada tanggal 13 Juni 2018 dan mengakibatkan 13 orang meninggal. Kecelakan tersebut disebabkan oleh kelebihan muatan. Banyaknya korban jiwa diakibatkan kurangnya pemahaman penumpang terkait prosedur keselamatan di atas kapal saat terjadi kecelakan. Untuk meminimalkan korban apabila kecelakaan terjadi maka dibutuhkan sosialisasi terkait bahaya, cara evakuasi, dan cara penggunaan peralatan keselamatan di atas kapal. Sosialisasi tentang bahaya, cara evakuasi, dan cara penggunaan peralatan keselamatan di atas kapal penyeberangan rute Makassar-Pulau Barrang Lompo dilaksanakan pada 28 September - 30 September 2021. Sebelum dilakukan sosialisasi, terlebih dahulu dilakukan survei untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman penumpang terhadap bahaya, cara evakuasi, dan cara penggunaan peralatan di atas kapal melalui pengisian kuesioner. Selanjutnya dilakukan sosialisasi dengan cara peragaan dan penjelasan terkait bahaya, cara evakuasi, dan cara penggunaan peralatan di atas kapal. Untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman penumpang maka dilakukan pengisian kuesioner setelah dilakukan sosialisasi. Berdasarkan hasil sosialisasi yang dilaksanakan, diketahui bahwa sebelum dilakukan sosialisasi terdapat 17,97% responden yang memahami terkait bahaya, cara evakuasi, dan cara penggunaan peralatan di atas kapal. Sedangkan setelah dilaksanakan sosialisasi, diperoleh 82,95% responden yang telah memahami bahaya, cara evakuasi, dan cara penggunaan peralatan di atas kapal atau mengalami peningkatan sebesar 64,98%.

Abstract

Solar energy is a renewable and environmentally friendly energy that can be utilized in various fields. Solar energy can be used to increase production in the agricultural sector by introducing smart and efficient technological interventions with cheap energy sources. One of the problems faced by farmers is the provision of crop irrigation and watering which requires a lot of labor or high electricity costs. With a solar-based irrigation pump with an automation system, it is expected to reduce the need for labor and electricity costs. The method of service is by conducting training on the implementation of solar water pumps for agricultural irrigation systems for HKTI-Gowa Youth. The training was continued by demonstration of the use and working system of a solar water pump machine for an agricultural irrigation system using an automation system based on a timer. This service provides additional knowledge about the use of solar power for agricultural irrigation systems, so that it can be more efficient and effective with this cheap and environmentally friendly energy source. This activity was highly appreciated by the training participants in this service.

Abstract

Open open space is one of the elements of space that has a function as a social binder for the resident community in a certain area, can be accessed from anywhere and anytime so that it has a sustainability function that can improve the quality of life of the community both in social, economic, and even cultural contexts. On an urban scale, the rules regarding open space are directed at efforts to achieve good oxygen conditions which are a requirement in improving the health status of the community. In residential areas, the performance of open space is more emphasized on socio-cultural functions where people can gather in a friendly atmosphere so that the optimization of open space functions in the aspect of joint economic improvement is actually open for development. Open space in a residential area in Romang Lompoa Village has the potential in the form of a large volume. The main problem lies in the lack of facilities to support community activities in developing interactive activities between fellow settlers in a social context. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve the function of the existing open space by providing the design of supporting facilities for interactive activities which can then be realized by the community in the residential environment through participatory activities based on mutual cooperation. The method of carrying out the activities formulated by the Community Service Team of the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University refers to the health protocol rules as part of efforts to break the spread of the Covid-19 Virus. Therefore, the form of activity is mostly carried out in the form of observation and evaluation of existing open spaces as well as limited interviews with stakeholders at locations at community service locations.

Abstract

Children's awareness in disposing of waste in its place is one of the important factors in learning environmental health to be healthy and clean. The basics and concepts of waste management are not merely using advanced technology, but rather require changes and the formation of behavior from each individual. The formation of individual behavior in managing waste properly needs to be instilled from an early age, which is the golden age of forming a person's behavior, which will become easier and the results more visible at a later age. The formation of waste management behavior from an early age can be started from the formation of the habit of sorting and placing waste in its place, which is expected to become a habit in the course of his life. So that togetherness in managing and creating a clean and healthy environment will be more easily realized. Partners involved in this Community Service activity are students and teachers at SDIT Ikhtiar-Makassar. The solution offered is socialization and assistance to students to dispose of waste in the provided trash cans, separate organic waste, inorganic waste, and B3 waste, and minimize waste generation with the 3R concept (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle). During the COVID-19 pandemic, direct socialization activities were replaced by handing over a pocketbook on waste sorting which contains instructions on how to sort waste. This pocketbook will be used as material in thematic learning for SDIT Ikhtiar students and as one of the supports for the school's Adiwiyata program.
